I don't know what to even call this type of problem
I have no idea what to even name what has happened to my MacBook Pro in the last two days, so I don't quite know where to begin to look for help.
As best I can describe it--a constant, VERY rapid opening of files--to the point that I thought the whole computer drive would fill up. These files were all of the same type--saying something about an alias being resolved.
I did whatever I could think of to stop the process.
Both instances involved attempts to use downloaded drawing-to-a-mac programs. Don't know yet if this was just a coincidence, or not.
In any event, if anyone knows what to term this type of event, I sure would appreciate learning even that; because then, if it reoccurs, I might be able to seek help more directly.

Thanks, OrangeMarlin. The second program was MacPaint. Sorry, but am not sure about the first one. I did delete both programs. And it may have even been WordPress, which I'm still quite new at using. (I was trying to make a WordPress customized header, by way of a kind of artsy program.) I've also been using Comic Life, but I don't believe that is the problem.
In all these years, I've never seen anything like this before.

Don't know what it's called, but I want to turn it off.
Don't know why I have let myself suffer with this "feature" for so long. Don't know what it's called. Don't even know how to activate it if I wanted--which I don't.
Anyway, sometimes when using my trackpad and two fingers to move up and down a page, say when surfing, a semi-cirlce (I think its a semi-circle) appears on one side of the page or the other. Then, if I accidentally move my fingers too close to the side the page, it's like I've hit the back or forward arrow. I really want to turn this "feature" off. Anyone know how to do so.@Barney-15E
Thanks much. Nope don't have any sort of gesture modification package. Incidentally, it is driving my wife crazy too--under Mt. Lion. FYI, the "feature" is very annoying especially in cases like now. That is, if I accidentally inovked it and went back a page, then, upon returning here, what I had typed to this point would be gone. When doing long posts, I have had to get used to copying what I have typed periodically to not lose everything if I accidentally invoke the "monster." Wife too. FWIW, we used different downloads of Mt. Lion to Install.
Incidentally, have you seen this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/message/21888143#21888143. I am surprised no one has replied. Seems like what I am asking about would be common knowledge at this point. But, I have not found anything particularly useful via googling. I have seen a few claims apparently supporting what I am interested in, but nothing overly concrete.

How do I put shortcuts to web sites in a (?) tool bar/browser bar...don't know what it is called. With IE, I can just drag the tab for the site to the area I want
Near the right-end of the address bar is a white star which can be difficult to see, but look closely. When you wish to bookmark a shortcut to the toolbar, double click the star. A window will open with the name of the webpage. Under that is the folder box which will probably read 'Unsorted Bookmarks'. Click the drop down arrow and change it to 'Bookmarks Toolbar' then click done.
I have several folders on my toolbar such as Music, Mail, etc. in which I add multiple websites. If you wish to add a folder, click the second drop down arrow next to 'Bookmark Toolbar' and click 'New Folder' and give it a name.
To add a bookmark to a folder, again double click the star, make sure you are in Bookmark Toolbar and click one of the two drop down arrows to find the name of the folder.
For other bookmarks use Bookmark Menu. Whatever is added here can be accessed by Bookmarks on the Menu Bar. If your Menu Bar with Bookmark, File, View, etc. is not visible, click the Alt key and they will become visible. To keep the Menu Bar, click View, Toolbars and check Menu Bar. -

I tried to restart my ipad. Instead of the apple logo coming up, the wheel has circled for hours. I don't know what to do about this. Can anyone help? Thankis.
Hard Reset.
- Hold down the Home Button (Circle button with White Square in it)
- Wait for the 'Slide to Unlock' screen pops up
- Test to see if the issue is resolved. -
I purchased Angry Birds Rio thinking I was buying Angry Birds. Are there any directions on what to do with this game? Also my track pad does not respond so I really can't use this game. Can anyone shed some light on this--first it crashed, now it doesn't respond so--can I get my money back??

I don't know what to do in this situation.. I'm in the rural area
currently I own 2 iphones, iphone 4 and iphone 5 and both are destroyed unexpectedly.
our family is not a rich family but my father tried his best to give those phones to me as a present,
so those are really precious and I really took care of it.
my iphone 4 had a battery problem and the button problems as well, idk why this is always happening...
however, sad things happend for both phones. there was sudden lcd problems like there was a line in the bottom part of the phone and it got bigger.
and one day, it just shut down unexpectedly. I was just holding a phone, but the screen got blurred and it shut down. and I can't even open it until now.
I tried my best to repair the phone, that since I'm living in a rural area, I asked my friend who goes to urbane area for the repair, and they said
it can't be repair cause this phone is from hongkong. (it happened in the philippines and I was disappointed much ) and they just sent it back.
but I had to fix this phone. maybe for others it's just an Iphone, but because this is such a meaningful gift from my father from his hard working.
I asked my another friend who goes to korea to give this phone to apple center again cause I thought they are way better than the philippines center.
however, their answer was shocking. apple center in korea said that, some part of the phone is removed so they can't repair it anymore.
definitely, it had to be gotten from the philippines apple center. I was so terrified who could they do that to the customer..
and I wanted to send an email to apple about this situation, and sadly it has to be approved to send an email I guess form the phone, but how can I do that with the destroyed phone? so I really have no idea what to do with this situation. iPhones do not have international warranties. The only place in which you can get Apple service on your phones would be Hong Kong. Unless you have AppleCare, neither of these phones is under warranty. It is likely that the best Apple could offer you is an out-of-warranty replacement. -
I'm using Firefox 11 on an Intel iMac OS 10.6.8. This problem has just presented itself. First noticed it after intalling the latest Flash plug in 11.2.
Then realised that in fact I wasn't able to read a pdf on a web site or watch videos that need Microsoft Silverlight. Tried cleaning temp files and cookies, and
restoring permissions which were corrupted for Flash and Java script but to no avail. Anyone with any ideas please?Firefox does not support most plug-ins.
But there is a workaround!
Open Firefox and type in the address bar: about:config (no spaces) and click return. This gives you a warning that it might harm the application. Ignore that and click on 'I'll be careful, I promise' and you get the config file that you can edit - with great care.
Look/search (scroll down) for: firefox.plugins.enabled
Set it to true. (Double click it to toggle it)
Now close Firefox, open it again, and Flash etc will now work, as it now uses the plug-ins that Safari has stored. -
Don't Know What to Do with This!
Finally got my TC to work to a degree, but not in the set up I wanted, but couldn't be bothered with the thing anymore after so many frustrating hours of trying.
My question is, the thing is so much hassle, why not just hook up an external HD and backup wirelessly to that through your computer, in the same way I Acronis the Windows pc's in our house? Seems much easier....

You can connect a USB hard drive to the Time Capsule's USB port and/or one to your computer and back up that way using either Time Machine or a backup program of your choice. -

To download/install an app directly to the iPod you need available storage equal to about three times the file download size. Syncing the app to the iPod requires a lot less. Thus you either have to free up more storage or sync the app from your computer.

I messed up my links and don't know what I did.
Hello All
On my home page I created all my links by going through the "page properties" to set the color and the no underline thing. I tested it in my browser and they all work out fine, So I realize doing it that was would take to long so when I got to the "About us" page i decided to try and do the CSS thing. When I tested it in my browser, none of my links work (ie, no rollover or color changes). what did i do wrong? My home page links all work, I even tried to apply links to another page (in my site) and they too are not working in my browser.

When you test a page in browser and click on a link what happens? Do you get an error message?
Have all site pages been saved to your local site folder in Dreamweaver? If you don't know what that means, Read this tutorial:

If none of those things, Copy & Paste your HTML and CSS code into a reply. Use the Double Blue Arrow icon >> Syntax Highlighting > Plain.

Help! PLEASE read this post!!! Don't know what to do next?
Hi. When I'm asked to select a destination volume to intall the Mac OSX software, there is NO visible Hard Drive icon to select. I don't know what to do from this point??
But, let me back up a little... I stepped away from using my computer this morning and about an hour later started to hear an odd "repetitive motored clicking sound" coming from my home office. When I satiated my curiosity, I discovered the unknown noise coming from my G4 tower. Uh oh!?! Not good. When I went to use the mouse, everything was frozen. So I tried to manually reboot my computer. Not only did the odd noise not go away, but I was greeted by that wonderful "flashing file with the question mark" in the middle of a solid grey background on my monitor. I tried doing a soft boot while holding down the shift key, but NOTHING? I tried disconnecting the ethernet cable...NOTHING? Finally I tried inserting the Mac OSX Panther version 10.3 Install Disc while holding down the C key and opened the disc utility to try repairing the hard drive, but there is no visible Hard Drive icon on the left where there should be... shouldn't it be there?? Plus, when the install disc asks me to "Select a destination volume to install the Mac OSX software" there is nothing for me to chooses from. Shouldn't there be an icon of my Hard Drive here for me to choose? If this question has been asked before, please post the link if you know where to find it.
I don't want to reinstall the OSX if I absolutely don't have to. I just want that annoying clicking motor sound to go away and my computer back to normal working order.

Unfortunately, that happened to me today... but, I bought an external hard drive a few months back and had backed up the majority of my important files at that time (THANK GOD!!). I had a ton of music on my iTunes, photos in my iPhoto, and TONS of favorite bookmarks organized in my Safari that I'm pretty sure were not backed up on my external harddrive (but at least all my graphic design files were saved on my external). I think I'll chalk this one up to the lesser of two evils and count my blessings. It could've been much worse than it is. Thanks again though for your assistance.

When you buy an iPhone in the U.S. it's locked to that country with the carrier you bought it for.
If you bought the device unlocked in the U.S. it's unlocked, you can use it on any carrier. Even one's outside the country.
If you want to do a repair on a device you bought in the U.S. and your using it in another country, you must send it back to the U.S. Why? That's where you bought it from.
AppleCare Protection Plans and AppleCare Limited Warranties are registered to your hardware.
Your hardware is your iPhone.
Wherever hardware that was bought then that's the country it was designed to be used in and that's where it was manufactured.
Apple is very localized - if you call U.S. tech support, you'll speak to somone in your country.
So, what does all this mean?
In order to do a repair, you need to send it back to the country you got it from.
And we're all customers like you. We understand that you're upset, but Apple isn't gonna bend the rules to one individual.
Policy is policy. Get over it. -
When I go to buy an app that isn't free it asks for my security question but I don't know what my security question is so I go to change it and it said it will send the info to this email that I don't even have. What do I do?
