I don't like firefox 7

I was happy with firefox 3, it was simple to use and looked clean. I tried firefox 4 at a friend and didn't like it so I never updated. But then you didn't give me a choice anymore and now I have firefox 7 and I don't like it all at, to the point where I've already deleted it. Why isn't there support for google toolbar? All the small stuff that was just there in firefox 3 and that you now have to go searching for is to much hazzle.
My question is, I want firefox 3 back, is there a way?

Firefox 3.6.23 is available here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
The Google Toolbar "will not be supported on Firefox 5 and future versions." <br />

  • I don't like Firefox 4, and I want to downgrade to the previous version. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

I don't like Firefox 4 because I can't tag things on delicious, AND I can't save multiple sessions. The "Restore Previous Session" button isn't helpful because sometimes a new session launches from an email link, and then the previous session I wanted to save is lost. If I can't downgrade, I'll switch to Google Chrome. I am not interested in hearing about workarounds. Thanks.

  • I don't like Firefox 4.0 and want to go back to the last version.. how do i get rid of this version?

the other version let me access my email on the homepage now i have to go to bookmarks...how do i get rid of this version???!!!

That sounds like the difference between the new Firefox home page '''about:home''' and the previous Google Search page which has '''GMail''' at the top if you used GMail.
You can change your home page so that it points to what you had before, which It would be something like:
    * http://www.google.com/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official
    Note on Google pages
    * They won't show GMail at the top until you have gone to GMail
Directions to '''reset your home page''':
    * http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How to set the home page
More on Search and on Keyword Shortcuts
    * [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/search.htm Search and Substitution Shortcuts especially for Firefox users]
    * [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/kws.htm Firefox Keyword Shortcuts]
But I don't really understand why you or anyone else would want to use such a page for a home page, it is redundant. You have as many search engines as you want in the search bar, the default search is Google.
You can invoke '''GMail''', any search, any bookmark, any bookmarklet with a [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/kws.htm keyword shortcut] .
'''You're not stuck with how the toolbars have been changed''' in Firefox 4.0, '''this is Firefox''', you can '''customize''' it. That is why Firefox became so popular, you can customize it how you want it with Customize Toolbars, Extensions, Themes, Styles.
You can make '''Firefox 4.0.1''' look like '''Firefox 3.6.17''', see numbered items '''1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 look like 3.6)]

  • I don't like firefox 4. Where can I download 3.5?

Is it still possible to download a previous version, as I don't seem to have my original install file?

Firefox is highly customizable and you may be able to customize it to meet your needs.
If you do not like the new UI, you can make Firefox 4 look and behave more like Firefox 3.6, for details see http://www.computertechtips.net/64/make-firefox-4-look-like-ff-3-6
I would not use Firefox 3.5, that has now reached its end-of-life and will not be supported with any more updates. To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

  • I don't like Firefox 4!! How do I get back the older version???!!!

I've lost features that I had and used frequently. I tried to get info and found suggestion that customizing toolbar by dragging buttons/icons to toolbar would work. I did that for Refresh. Stop, Print, and Home, but the Stop and Refresh don't work. I've lost the down-arrow that was next to the Forward and Back buttons; the down-arrow at right side of URL bar does not take the place of the arrow I've lost.
I've found statements from others who do not like the new version and want to go back to previous version, BUT THERE WAS NO INFO ON HOW TO RETURN TO 3.6.?

  • I don't like Firefox 7, how do I revert to the previous version? System restore doesn't work.

With Firefox 7 my computer is slower to boot up and shut down. When typing the website I want in the address bar the old firefox took me straight to the site now it takes me to Google. I'd like to revert to the previous version of Firefox. I have tried using system restore but it doesn't work. I'm using windows XP. Can anyone help?

Starting with the release of Firefox 7, the previous versions of Firefox (4.0.x, 5.0.x and 6.0.x) are no longer maintained with Security and Stability updates. Firefox 3.6 is the last previous Firefox version that is still being maintained.
Firefox versions 4.0.x 5.0.x 6.0.x contain Security vulnerabilities that are known and could be exploited by some websites to gain unauthorized access to information or to disrupt critical processing. Only the Latest version 7.0.1 and an Older version 3.6.23 of Firefox are secure against these known vulnerabilities.

  • I want to know how to restore Safari as my home default browser, not Firefox. I don't like Firefox,

Please help me undo making Firefox my default browser..,I much prefer Safari....how do I switch back to Safari as my default browser?

The fastest way is to go to Safari=>Preferences=>General. The first line allows you to select your default browser.

  • I don't like firefox 4 I have lost everything from before and am having to constantly look

I cannot access all the information that I had on the version of firefox after I installed firefox 4 I thought it was just some sort of update I did not expect for it to be completely different and erase all my setups now I have to "hunt" and waste a lot of time trying to access everything and most of it is gone , I can't even refresh a page.
Also, I can't get my e=books to download and read thru firefox

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.

  • I really would like to know how to totally remove Yahoo toolbar from my Firefox browser as well as my computer. I don't like those special toolbars at all.

I really would like to know how to totally remove Yahoo toolbar from my Firefox browser as well as my computer. I don't like special toolbars at all. I find it irritating that you included one in the newest version of your browser. In the future I would hope you would leave this or any other out. Firefox used to be my favorite browser to use, now I am not going to want to use it because of the extra toolbar. Please tell me there is a way to remove this, not just hide it.

You can't move the Yahoo Toolbar from IE to Firefox, they are totally different "behind the scenes". However you can install it, [http://us.toolbar.yahoo.com/ http://us.toolbar.yahoo.com/] and I believe if you log in with your Yahoo account it will sync your data.

  • How do I stop firefox from attaching to and using resouces from my external hard drives. Why is it doing this. I don't like it.

I cannot disconnect from external hard drives because firefox is using the drive. I really don't like this. Aside from being intrusive and inconvenient it seems spywarish or just plain data mining.

Try the solution here: [[/questions/768100]] Why does firefox want to use different fonts on mounted hard drives
Move all User fonts in Font Book to Computer fonts.
    # Launch Font Book (/Applications/Utilities/)
    # Open Font Book > Preferences
    # Deselect: "Automatic Font Activation"
    # Set the "Default Install Location" for fonts to "Computer"
    # Select all User fonts
    # Move the selected User fonts to Computer fonts
    # Remove all duplicate fonts in Computer fonts

  • How do I go back to my old version of Firefox. 4 does not allow me to use two finger mousepad control to expand or contract my screen. Also I don't like the lack of a drop-down arrow next to the back/forward buttons.

I don't like to have to click and drag to see the drop down history of the back/forward buttons - this requires two fingers or a double tap and hold finger motion. MUCH easier to click and release and take my time to pick the screen I want to go back to, then click on that link with a separate motion.
I especially don't like that I can no longer expand and contract the screen with two finger motion on my mousepad!!!
Generally, I don't see any advantage to the new layout - and I have a slight preference to having my tabs closer to the screen rather than above the address bar, since I more frequently click on tabs than on the address bar. If you want to improve the view I would recommend combining the very topmost bar which is part of the window surround with the File Edit etc bar (and please keep File, Edit, View History, etc separated instead of putting them into a dropdown). This will allow the viewer one more line of text on a given webpage, and eliminate the wasted space which is only used to identify the window as FF and provide the close window buttons
PLEASE help me go back to the old version. It was perfect.
