There is a way to go back 6.1.3 if you do it fast. It's been done by some people on these boards already despite people telling you there's no way to do it but I don't know exactly where the posts were at. Apple is still signing for 6.1.3 as of now but it can stop fast so you have to act quick. It's an ISWP thing you have to install. Try searching the comments on the right hand side to see if you can find it. Try Googling it up and make sure you back up all data before doing it. I don't know if it voids your warranty or not. Apple doesn't support it. Also keep in mind that if you stay on iOS7 you will have to install iTunes 11.2 in order for it to sync.

On your MIL's device go to Settings>Messages> Send and Receive and delete the email address you are calling. Add her own email address if she wants to use Messages and here own is not listed.

My contacts are receiving spam from my email, how can I stop?

What is the best way to scan for virus on my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.5.8). Yesterday at 10am I started receiving numerous bounced emails in my inbox from random contacts in my address book-some that are very old and I haven't used for years (hence the bounce-back). Also had a few friends email me back saying they were getting spam from me. Shut down my computer and it seemed to stop, however this morning at 10am it started all over again! Yikes! I have three mail accounts including yahoo mail which is where some of the contacts came from originally, although I have since added them to my Mac address book. What is my best course of action? Yahoo email is famous for beiing hacked and has nothing to do with your computer. Most of the time.
That is not to say it is your Mac that is doing this.
If you really think it is something on your Mac then turn it off for a day and see if these contacts are still gettig emailsfrom you on that day. If they are and you did not use your computer that day then it is your Yahoo email system that has been hacked.
Also what you could do right now is log on to your Yahoo email and change the password. If the emails stop then again it is your Yahoo email acount that has been hacked and not your Mac.

First look at the mail it will tell you the community sending the email
Now go to the header page of that comunity
and click the Stop notifications
Now from your profile page clcik

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Note: Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

This is determined by your carrier. SMS/MMS is a poor man's email and by that I mean SMS/MMS has major restrictions and limitations compared to email but is a cash cow for cell phone carriers.
Upload the video to YouTube when connected via wifi and send the YouTube link via text.

You have to understand the difference between an Update and an Upgrade.
An Update is a free change to add to the base code or as a bug fix within an existing Operating System. Such as the .8 added to OSX 10.5 or the .11 added to OSX 10.4..
An Upgrade is a complete new Operating System that must be purchased. Such as 10.5 Leopard to 10.6 Snow Leopard.
10.5 Leopard was written for Power PC Macs with code added to force it to run on Intel processors.
10.6 Snow Leopard has completely rewritten code and only runs on Intel Macs.
10.7 Lion ($19.99) used some 32 bit which allows it to run on Late 2006 through Early 2008 MacBooks and a lot of 64 bit code.
10.8 Mountain Lion ($19.99) is pure 64 bit, which excludes more systems than Lion did. It can only run on the Late 2008 through Mid 2010 MacBooks. It's not something you can add memory to, for example, as it involves the base architecture.
10.9 Mavericks is pure 64 bit and is a free download from the App store.
The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store. Hey there tjbliven,
It sounds like you are not able to use the dictation feature of iOS 8, becuase the microphone icon is missing. It seems to me like Siri may be turned off, which would cause the icon to not be there:
Siri settings - iPhone
To set options for Siri, go to Settings > General > Siri. Options include:
Turning Siri on or off
That should get the dictation feature back for you.

Also the 1st gen device was discontinued awhile ago, since it runs on a different OS compared to the newer models it hasn't received any updates for 3 or 4 years now. There would be no update to check for.

This is a tedious solution, which is stupid! And some users report an inability to reauthorize a computer after an "en masse” deauthorization. I can’t believe Apple doesn’t provide a list or menu to find out which computers you’ve authorized! Obviously, APPLE knows (or else they couldn’t tell us how many computers we have authorized)--so why can’t they give us access to that information about our own computers??!!!
And for an already-authorized computer with a hard drive that’s since been replaced and upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite, would it be recognized as a “new computer” and require authorization? Would its previous incarnation (i.e., with the old hard drive and OS) be considered a separate computer? Some users report they can’t authorize a computer after an OS upgrade because of that. Can’t believe we have to do such a bass-ackwards kludge!

Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to perform unauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.
