I don't need one, but...

Hi everyone!
I'm outrageously tempted to get an iMac G5 even though I don't need one. lol But I really, really want one! However I have something holding me back - Intel. If you wanted a new computer now, not NEED, but you wanted a new computer, would you wait for the Intel switch, or buy one now??
Stu

Ditto with what ismile said,
I for one am very leery about buying anything new from Apple anymore, which will probably get my post deleted.
Dont get me wrong, I love Apple and all the products, it's just that they always make surprise releases which leads the consumer into making purchases without any way of knowing what the future product line will be.
Great for Apple, bad for consumer.
Look at the track record of the iMac G5's and iPod. (iPod especially)
For me, I buy when I need it for a purpose.
Because of the volatile nature of electronics, what you buy today will be nearly obsolete in a very short time at alot lower price.
Macs do hold they're value for sure so anything bought today is a pretty sound investment anyway.
If you have the money to burn, buy it and enjoy life, that's what I would do

There is no such thing as a "pay once, use forever CC". It's strictly a subscription model that you can use as long as you pay for it. Your CS5 will give you a discount for the first year.

If you are getting a voicemail password prompt, that usually means you have a voicemail.  In order to hear it you will need to enter the passcode, it only needs to be entered once.
To reset your passcode, call your service provider.

I Have NI Configuraor 3.2, it is activated for the configurator OK.

I cant use the Configurator because I cant open it, Its always asking for the extra license code,
How Can I tell the Software that it does not need the extra license?
    PLEASE HELP!!!
    Neil

    Hi Neil,
Configurator should be activated while Communication Manager does not need activation.
Could you please send the Serial Number of the NI-FBUS to [email protected] ? It can be found on the certificate paper included in the product package. I will check the activation for you.
    Thanks.

  • How do I uninstall anything running in background that I don't need?

I am having problems (iMac OSX 10.6.8) with my searches being intercepted.
Could this be caused by applications running in the background?
If so, how do I uninstall anything running in background that I don't need?

But whatever I search on Google, within moments my email box is crammed with spam on a related topic.
If that's true, then it would seem you have put your email addrress out on the Internet somewhere.
At the same time, it's possible that you have inadvertently got some malware on your system and that it is what is intercepting your web searching and then sending you email on that or related topics. I'm not suggestng this is likely, only that it's a possibility, however small.
Who is your Internet provider? Some of them actively intercept searches and foist ads on you, especially when you try to go to a web site that doesn't exist or one that isn't cached in their DNS servers.

  • Hi, I forgot my user password mac 10.9.4 I don't need it to log in but i need it to make changes, etc. It says a password hasn't been set for this account but it still asks for one when i click on the lock icon. can anyone help me? thx!

This is a little confusing since you say you have forgotten your password and then the system says you have not entered a password.  Even with an Admin account you must have a password to install software.
If you are using Mac OS X 10.7 or above, you can change the admin password by restarting holding the Command and R keys, from the menu bar select Utilities, then Terminal.  When the Terminal window opens, at the cursor type exactly:
    resetpassword
and press Enter.  When the Reset Password window opens, select the internal hard drive, and then the user account.  Type a new password twice, leave the Hint blank, and then Save.  Accept the next dialog that opens, and at the bottom of the Reset Password window agree to resetting the home directory permissions.
Quit the Reset Password window, go to the apple left side of the menu bar, Restart.
And you have a new password for your account.

  • I am an exchange student for the year and I would like to by an iphone that i can use in France also, so I need an unlocked one but i don't want to pay to much for it... What should I do?

I am an exchange student for the year and I would like to by an iphone that i can use in France also, so I need an unlocked one but i don't want to pay to much for it... What should I do?

What do you mean what should you do?  Just because you don't want to pay too much for a phone, doesn't make the price any cheaper.  If you can't afford the price of an unlocked phone, then you don't, or can't, buy one.

You can get your Security Questions reset by contacting iTunes Support at either of the two links below. Select the best options for your issue, or provide specific information. Let them know you are contacting them concerning Forgotten Security Questions. They will get back to you via your primary email address, usually within 24 hours. Once your Security Questions have been reset, you will be able to go in and reset your Rescue email address on your account:

    or by email:

  • Hp 2000 did factory reset, won't boot up, need disc but don't have one!!!! What can I do.....???????

I had to do a factory restore on my hp 2000. It said it completed to then click finish to restart so I did, but now it won't boot back up says I need the windows disc, but I don't have one. Called tech support my warranty is out so I had to pay (ok I get that but at the moment im flat broke, no joke!). Ok so what can I do to recover this without a disc??? I was told there are steps but I don't know them!! My kid uses that laptop for school, so I really kinda need to figure this out. If anyone could be so kind as into help me out that would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you for taking the time to read this!!

If you are in US or Canada there is an option to order Recovery Disks on your support page in the 'drivers & software' list  for around $16. You can find your support page using the link at top of this page titled "Support and Drivers". To find the correct page you will need full Model number or Product number as listed on the Service Tag attached to bottom of laptop. If you need more help locating the support page please post your Model number and Product number.
    A free alternative to consider>>
If the laptop came with Windows 7 AND you can read the 25 character Microsoft Windows 7
license key attached to bottom of laptop , you can download a Windows 7 ISO file to burn to a DVD The version must match the one listed on the Microsoft COA sticker, such as Windows 7 Home Premium.
Link to the Windows 7 ISO file downloads:
    http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/14709-Windows-7-Digital-River-direct-links-Multiple-Languag...
Use the Windows 7 USB/DVD  tool to convert the ISO file to a Windows installation on DVD or USB flash drive.
     http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool#installation
Boot from the newly created DVD or flash drive, install. Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
Next go to your support and driver page to install the drivers you need.

  • I have OS X 10.8.5 trying to upgrade. Have downloaded latest OS X Maverick but to install I am prompted for the Admin Password. I don't believe one was ever set up. I have tried my Apple Id Password but not accepted, Advice appreciated.

My system is Mac HD OX S 10.8.5. I want to upgrade 10.9.1 and have downloaded it. However, to install it I am prompted for the Admin Password. I don't believe one was ever set up. I have tried my Apple Id Password but not accepted, Advice appreciated?

If you have 10.8.5 you don't have a PowerPC Mac (PPC).  PPC is for pre-2006 Macs.   Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to make sure you have an Intel Mac and that you didn't flip the 5 and 8 in your operating system indication.  If you actually have 10.5.8 but you have Intel it gets a lot more complicated to install 10.9.
10.5.8 is the maximum for PowerPC.
10.6 can be upgraded on Intel with this tip:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2455
And it also help you get up to 10.6.6 or 10.6.8 as needed.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6271
will help someone with 10.5.8 determine if they are ready to jump to 10.7 or later.
If you have 10.8.5, you must install 10.9.0 first (free from the Mac App Store) to get to 10.9.1.
    Backup your data:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1992
and check http://www.roaringapps.com/ and your printer, scanner, and peripheral  drivers are compatible with third party vendors before upgrading to 10.9.

  • HT204053 My security question don't match ones that I used so it won't allow me in but I have access to everything because I have my password.

My security question don't match ones that I used so it won't allow me in but I have access to everything because I have my password.

If you can't correctly guess that address, you need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
