I don't receive attachments on Mail 6.5

Hi All,
I set up my Mail account on Mail 6.5, I can receive and send mails... but have problems receiving attachements... The thing is that I can view the files on my iPhone but when I open the mail on the Mac, I can't see them, I have to forward me the mail from my phone and then I can see the attachment on the laptop.
I don't have any problems when I open the same mail from my internet provider site... do you have any idea???????
I'll appreciate your help!!!!
Thank you in advance

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Quit and relaunch Mail, and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
If there's no change, continue as follows.
Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Triple-click the text on the line below to select it:
~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Problems with receiving attachments in Mail

Hi. Can somebody help me. I work in Mail but keep on having problems receiving attachments from my clients (most of whom use Microsoft). I seem to receive their attachments in a 'dat' format - which does not open. Is can this be fixed? As always thank you all!

  • Send mail so CC recepients don't receive attachments

    Hello,
I'm a graphic designer and often send attachments that weigh up to 10mb via e-mail. Many times I need to send files to a service bureau and need to CC or BCC the client. The clients often can't or don't want to receive the attachments but need confirmation that the mail (with the attachments) was sent.
Is there any way send an e-mail containing cumbersome attachments so the CC or BCC recipient does not have to download the attachments?

To my knowledge, it's not possible to do what you want to do.
All recipients of the message (To: CC: and BCC:) will all receive an identical version of the message with attachments if there are any.
The only way around this is to send two versions of the message to different recipients. One version with the attachment, and one version without.

  • Receiving attachments in Mail

When I receive e-mail(Mail) with an attachment, many times the attachment doesn't show in its entirety. If I hit forward or reply, the full attachment shows up, so I know it's there. I just can't see it in the original e-mail. How can I correct this? It's a nuisance

    Steve,
Thanks for your help. You sent me looking back. It happens randomly with both e-mails that show the paperclip and ones that don't. I'm sure it has "something" to do with "PCs" LoL. The view as plain text works on the text but if there are graphics/photos involved, that won't show them at all. If I "reply" or "forward", everything is there in brilliant living color. It's sort of puzzling to me and I wonder if it has to do with the Mail application. I never had this when I used other e-mail programs and it really just started about the time I upgraded to OS 10.3 (or whatever it was before 10.4.7). I had hoped 10.4.7 would correct it but it did not.

  • I don't receive an E-Mail from Apple to confirm my Apple-ID

I tried to get my own Apple-ID but when i should confirm my E-Mail adress by an E-Mail Apple should have sent to me i can't receive one. Even in Junk file there is no E-Mail. I tried this procedure several times.

You need to contact Apple to get the questions reset. Click here, phone them, and ask for the Account Security team, or fill out and submit this form.

  • Trouble receiving attachments in Mail.app

    Hello,
I work at a university that just started using Cisco Unified Messaging and mail.app is having a little trouble dealing with the .wav attachments that are used to transport voice mails. Basically what happens is that I will setup Mail with an IMAP account attached to the Exchange server, everything is left as default for the account settings, and Mail will download the message properly except for the attachment, which it turns into a file called 'mime-attachment'. I have tried expanding this attachment with Stuffit, renaming the file to .wav -- which is the file type that Unity uses -- and finally, telling Mail to not download attachments for offline viewing, all to no avail. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks so much for any help anyone could provide,
    Ted

This same exact thing happens to me as well. Does anyone know how to correct this?

  • I DON'T want attachments to show in the text of the Mail email

I DON'T want attachments to show in the text of the email.
My company just switched over to Mail today. Every time we send an email with a .pdf attachment, it shows the attachment in the text body of the email. We don't want that to happen. How do I prevent this from happening?
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Mail 2.1.1

    You can't.
The Mail.app displays all image/photo and single page PDF attachments inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default - sending and receiving.
You can control-click on a viewed in place attachment and select View as Icon but the icon for the attached file will remain in the body of the message. Regardless, depending on the recipient's email client and available preference settings, such attachments may appear inline or viewed in place when the message is opened by the recipient (as with the Mail.app when receiving such attachments) or as attached files only which must be opened separately to be viewed for which the sender has no control over.
This was a minor adjustment for me at first but I now prefer such attachments being displayed inline since I have confirmation that I selected the correct file or file names as attachments before the message is sent.

  • Windows users are not receiving attachments sent out of Mail

I am a consultant. I use Mail in Snow Leopard. Software is up to date.
Our business uses Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. All other consultants in the company are using Windows. In Mail I connect via IMAP. It has worked flawlessly until recently.
Recently, my corporate clients (various clients not related to one another nor using the same email server) have complained that they are not receiving my email attachments. It is not universal. It is inconsistent, even with the same client. Sometimes the attachments are there and sometimes not.
I have verified two things. 1) That the attachments are present in the emails in my outbox. 2) That the emails leave our server with the attachment (I accomplished this by contacting our Microsoft Exchange service provider and giving them examples, which they tracked down and verified that the emails left them with the attachments.).
Our service provider suggested that Mail is adding something to the email that is causing Outlook (the common denominator is that the clients receiving the emails are all on Outlook) to strip the attachment. Or, the antivirus is stripping it. Something about the Mail email is causing Outlook or some antivirus software to strip the attachments.
Has anyone else encountered this? Is there something that can be done?
Right now I've had to go to Thunderbird in order for my attachments to be received. I'd rather stay with Mac all the way, but I cannot trust that my clients will receive attachments.
I'm hoping that when our company changes to MS Exchange Server 2007, that the problem will go away, since Mail can interface with the 2007 version directly. But, until then, I would really like to stick with Mail, if I can find a work around.
    Thanks.
    Matt

I am now having exactly the same problem.  But here is a new wrinkle.  ALL the persons having the problem you describe - that attachments are stripped off - are using cox.net as their e-mail provider.   I am not saying that all cox.net mail users are having the problem, but those having the problem are among the cox.net e-mail users.  None of my recipients using aol.com, yahoo.com, gmail.com, verizon.net, zona.net, etc. are having any problems.  Only some of the cox.net e-mail users.
I suspect but have not checked that they are all PC users (I use a Mac with Mail) and, now that I have become aware of this thread, I will check if they use Outlook.
It started a few months ago.  I had no problems before and now this, with the same people.  Obviously something must have changed but what?
Please let me know if you have found anything more about this - or even a solution?  :-)

I forgot my iCloud password, and i can not reset it with email authentication, when i do it, i don't receive any mail from Apple

If you don't know your password, don't know your security questions and don't have a rescue address or don't receive a reset email, you should contact AppleCare who will initially try to assist you with a reset email or if unsuccessful will pass you to the security team to reset your security questions for you.

  • I receive e-mail attachments " win mail.dat" from iPhones and iPads. All I can find is that Outlook users send these e-mails. I found "letter opener" and it helps but I'd rather receive jpeg in stead from my Apple friends

Last week I suddenly started receiving all e-mails with photo attachments from other iPad and iPhone users (on my iMac, iPhone as well as iPad!)  as " winmail.dat" files. It says everywhere that that is caused by Outlook users sending RTF e-mails. Obviousely that is not the case here. I found an app to open the attachments, but of course that is no real solution. I asked Android and MS Outlook users to send me e-mails with JPEG attachments and the arrive aas they should.
Does anyone know the answer to this?
    Jos Korver

By the way, some non-delivery receipts (NDRs) are themselves spam messages with malicious attachments designed to infect your computer, so be cautious about opening any of those.

Someone who receives my mail sent from Apple Mail cannot receive attachments or read my email even though they are on a Mac using Safari.  How could they be using Safari to receive or read my mail?

You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink.  This person receiving my email,  while on a Mac with Safari is reading their mail through Safari using Horde--our recent discovery.  Why they chose to do that in unclear. The last email we sent, however, was miraculously read and received and  the attachment was viewed with no problem after we told them our mail was coming from a Mac thriugh Apple Mail.  It seems that telling them that our emails were coming from a Mac and using Apple Mail was enough to make them think that perhaps THEY were doing something not quite right. Thank you both, Level 7 and Level 5.
But thank you especially for the meteorologists in the UK for putting forth the correct routes for Sandy these last days, you probably saved a lot of lives.
