I don't remember my admin (login) password and can't reset it

I'm trying to reset my "admin"/user password but can't figure it out??

If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, boot into Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. In the window that opens, type this:
res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select
 ▹ Restart
from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.
*Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions.

  • How can I get ICloud to stop trying to verify my account and stop the upgrade process? Also, I don't know my iCloud password and can't reset it.  Help!

    Since
the latest iOS download iCloud keeps trying to verify my account as well as keeps trying to upgrade. I can't figure out how to stop it as I also don't know my password And can't reset the iCloud PW. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
You will need to show patience with the procedure and be prepared to demonstrate without question that the account belongs to you. Don’t expect access to be restored immediately and if you aren’t the owner of the Apple ID registered to the device the account won’t be reset.

  • HT2623 how do i delete icloud account on my ipad when my apple ID is non active email and i don't know the password and can't reset password without active email

how do i delete icloud account on my ipad when my apple ID is non active email and i don't know the password and can't reset password without active email

If the iCloud account you are trying to delete is old ID that was later updated to change it to your current ID, you can go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now, if desired, you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • I purchased an used macbook and I don't know the old owners password, how can I reset it?

I purchased an used macbook and I don't know the old owners password, how can I reset it?

Well, it is part of the Mac. So you were shortchanged.
Call AppleCare and ask them to send you a replacement set. They will ask for the serial number and model number to sure they are give you the correct set. They will charge you a nomibnal fee for shipping and handling.

  • I can't remember my mac mini password and can only log in under test, please help

I can't remeber my Mac mini password and can only log in under Test.  Please help me as I would like to access my photos and personal information.  Thanks

    Forgot Your Account Password
    For Snow Leopard and earlier
Mac OS X 10.6- If you forget your administrator password
    For Lion/Mountain Lion
        Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu.
Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow
instructions in the dialog window that will appear.
Or see Reset a Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Password and
OS X Lion- Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
If you cannot do the above then try this:
      1. Boot to Safe Mode by restarting and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-S keys until a black screen with white type appears.
      2. At the prompt, type the following commands pressing return after each command line:
         /sbin/fsck -yf
If you do not receive a "Filesystem OK" message then repeat this command until
you do.  If after seven tries you still do not receive a "Filesystem OK" message,
then the system is corrupted and needs to be reinstalled.
         mount -uw /
         cd /private/var/db/netinfo
         mv local.nidb local.old
         rm ../.AppleSetupDone
         shutdown -r now
The second-to-last command above will cause OS X to think that the operating system is newly installed, and when the new owner starts up the computer it will send him/her to the startup wizard where he/she can start a new user without reinstalling.
This last method does not actually change a password. It simply removes the user accounts and lets you create an initial admin account as if the computer were new out of the box.
How to reset the OS X password without a startup CD:
Reboot into Single-user Mode. Enter the following and press RETURN after each command line
       1. Type fsck -fy
       2. Type mount -uw /
       3. Type passwd <username>
I have never tried this method myself.

  • DMM SuperUser URL :8080/dmsadmin/admin/login redirects and can't access

For some reason I can no longer access the superuser admin for the DMM. When we connected the DMM to LDAP we had to start using
    http://SERVERADDRESS:8080/dmsadmin/admin/login
Where I go there it redirects to
    https://SERVERADDRESS.com:8443/dmsadmin/login/loginView.jsp?goto=http%3A%2F%2FSERVERADDRESS.com%3A8080%2Fdmsadmin%2Fj_spring_dms_security_check
    Any ideas?

Do a search for the wdbsvr.app file and make sure there is a DAD entry for both the portal and login server and that they are correct.

  • Changed Apple ID email Ok,however old email still linked to iCloud lost that login password and can't retrieve or change it because that old email address is not active anymore.

    Hi all,
I had to change ISP and therefore I had to change my email address.
Did that easily for my Apple ID for both iTunes, iPhone and iPad.
However the email address for the iCloud somehow stayed attached to my old dead email account.
I can't delete the account off the iPad for some reason it still comes up with the old email address for the Apple ID.
I can't get an email sent to rectify it as it's dead! I can't reset it as my current Apple ID password is incorrect for that old email address.
Any ideas on how to rectify the issue?
    Thanks.

If the old ID is yours, and if it is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I am sorry for you, because you will need access to your old account, otherwise you won't be able to delete your old account. If you remembered your old ID, then you can at least reset your password here: https://appleid.apple.com/

  • When i try to reset my new ipod nano, my nano disappears from itunes.  I can't remember my keychain login password and it cuts me off. help

I have a new ipod nano.
i can't sync it or use it.  I tried to reset it.
Safari asks for my keychain password which I cannot remember so when I hit "cancel" my nano disappears from itunes.
    help.

My new 80GB iPod is doing the same thing. I can't click on anything other than the summary, or iTunes crashes. This happens most of the time, but not quite every time, which makes things even more mysterious. When I do manage to click on something other than the summary, all of the songs under the iPod are grayed out, and it won't let me manually manage them, even though I have that option selected. This has been happening on an eMac running 10.4 with iTunes 7.0.2. When I tried with my dad's powerbook, it didn't happen (also 10.4 with iTunes 7.0.2), but I only tried it once.

I have an icloud account linked to an email address that is no longer in service.  I do not have the password for the account and am trying to retrieve the songs and data from the cloud to use on new apple device.  Any way to get a new password, able to open the expired account, without having that email account active?

  • I am making a purchase on my iPhone for the first time and I set my account up a long time ago I don't remember my security questions what ways can I reset them?

Anything that anyone knows of will help! Thank you

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) on your account then the steps half-way down this page will give you a reset link on your account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions) then you will need to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 link above to add a rescue email address for potential future use

  • I forgot my Itunes Password and can not reset it

I have two Apple ID's and I forgot one of the passwords...when I go to reset it, I choose the email verification, but the email never comes.  I then choose security answer and it will not accept my answers or birthdate.  Any suggestions?

Follow the instructions on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 - they should let you reset your iPad and you can then restore/resync your content to it

  • My admin login password was recently changed but I forgot it. I didn't get to shut off my mac, it entered sleep so now I cannot enter recovery mode.

I know it's a bad idea to change passwords when you're stressed but I changed my admin login password and promptly forgot it after 5 minutes (there was a big commotion in the background). The problem is that now I cannot enter recovery mode, I'm stuck with the user login screen. I can log in as a guest just fine, but I need access to my files on the Admin account.
Lastly, I also haven't linked my Apple ID to my AirBook, so that is out of the question too. What can I do to gain back control over my admin account, without wiping all my data? - Currently running OSX 10.9.4

Once I get into recovery mode, do I go through the migration set up process? Should I be logged out of my account on the old macbook before I set up the new one? I really thought I knew what I was doing but am seriously confused now.
    Thank you.
