I don't see a jack for an external microphone - hp notebook Pavilion m6

I have a headset I'd like to plug in, it has a better microphone but I don't see a jack for microphones, just for headsets. Is there a jack or how can I use my external microfphone

Ah - I have just run into this problem with a HP Pavilion m6. I have been trying to digitally record some precious archival material from tape cassettes over forty years old, and I thought to use a cassette deck as an external microphone, and connect the RCA jacks on the deck to a mini 3½mm phono jack plugged into the HP.
It won't work!! Bother!
In the first place, the mini jack has to have four poles, not the usual three.
One way around this to use an external microphone is to acquire an external sound card with the usual mini ports to plug into one of the USB ports in the HP. Such an external sound card is easily got, and they are inexpensive. However, whether or not one can get a good quality external sound card is another matter.
One other solution seems to partially work: I acquired from a television shop an interconnector with a 4-pole 3½ mini jack at one end and RCA plugs at the other, including a video plug. Using the one video plug in one of the cassette deck stereo plugs works, but converts the stereo of the cassette to mono when recorded by the HP m6.

Aperture has the ability to work with files in their existing location. They are called "referenced masters." When you import images, you should select the "In their current location" in the "Store Files:" drop down box. Have a read of the documentation for full specifics. Unsure how you can resolve your duplication; might be some work but next time have a read of the manual first
Information for versions is stored in the Aperture database (library file). The masters can be inside the library file itself, or they can be somewhere else.

No, not on the File menu. Click on the Device that shows up when connected:

If you do not use the Sidebar, when the iPod is connected to iTunes, you should see this icon appear to the left of the iTunes Store button:
Click on the ringed icon (but not on the "eject" part of it!).
Or
If you use the Sidebar, you will see the Device appear, as shown below:
Click on it.
Once you have clicked on the Device, you should see this (Summary) pane, with the word Summary darkened:
Click on Photos (as ringed above)...
Now you are on the Photos pane (notice Photos is now darkened), where there is a drop-down menu. It's that box that says "My Pictures", where you will find "Choose Folder". That option allows you to choose (as I did) "My Pictures".
Notice in the last screenshot that a message at the very top of the image states that the "iPod Sync is complete". Choosing the folder after the Sync has completed (or passed the "sync photos" section) simply means that it requires another Sync for that change to take effect.
That's it.
Now, whatever pictures you place in the chosen folder will be added to your iPod at the following Sync. Likewise, any pictures you remove from that folder will be removed from the iPod at the following Sync.
You only need to look on the Photos pane if you wish to change the folder option.

Don't see the button for vanishing point - what gives?

I just upgraded from Photoshop CS2 to Photoshop CS4, I also have a trial version of After Affects CS4 that I am using. I was trying to create a vanishing point in photoshop to send it to After Effects, and i know I'm supposed to use the little triangle button in the vanishing point screen but the weird thing is that I don't see this button. Do I have to do something to see it?

then the mountain lion download is ready , opens the installer ...close them and then make a copy of the osx-installer.app ( in /Applications ) on an external drive or similar ...then re-execute the installer.app...so you do not download the installer twice
it take some time to appear in purchases (Mountain Lion )...if the download not appear then rebuild the appstore cache
in Finder the Menu Go to ----> Go to Folder ----> /Users/username/Library/Caches .... there is the folder com.apple.appstore delete this folder , this should be rebuild the cache if you next time start the appstore
an other solution is the terminal ( Applications/Utilities)

I would like to be able to have any cookie I choose to accept on a given website be deleated as soon as I leave or close that website so that my surfing does not get tracked from site to site. I don't see an option for that. Is any one working on that?

Some sites require cookies be turned on in order to access the data I want or to perform a transaction.
Right now, I have Firefox set to not accept cookies until I run into a site that requires cookies be accepted.
Once I need to turn cookies on, I return to "Options" and select accept cookies but not 3rd party cookies.
I will then be surfing along and occasionally check what cookies have been placed. There may be several placed I did not know were placed. I assume my surfing has been being tracked and I don't like that as a point of privacy.
Is there a privacy setting I am missing, an application or extension I can download, or is the Mozilla team working on this as a feature?

In 4.0, I don't see the icon for Home anymore. Why not?

I just installed 4.0 but I cannot see the Home icon at the top anymore because it quickly allowed me to do so with earlier versions. All I see now is the address line and the webpage that is open. If I want to go to my home page, I either have to type in google.ca or click on it under Bookmarks. Your earlier version of Firefox allowed me to see a Home page icon at the top left and simply click on it. Any help, thanks.

The iPhone 3G can't be upgraded beyond 4.2.1. The over the air update requires iOS 5 or higher, thus you won't see it.

10.9 don't see my files from my external hard drive

I just did the update to get 10.9 and when I plug my external hard drive, all my files are gone ;(
when I restart with the original CD Rom, with Disk Utility, I can see that my files are there
any idea is happenning with this update ?
