I don't see an Apps tab in iTunes, when syncing my iPod touch (first generation).

Hi. On my Ipod touch (Running Version 1.1.5) The Apps tab does not show up on the ipod. The ItuneU tab is new and does exist but there is no apps tab. What do I need to do to get the apps tab to show up?
I am running Windows 7 and the most up to date itunes.

You have a 1G iPod. You need at least iOS 2.0 to get apps. The last update for the 1G is 3.1.3 that you get here:

all of my apps are in iTunes AND on my iPod Touch. in iTunes, under my iPod, the checkbox next to 'sync apps' (in the Apps page under my iPod) is Unchecked. if I check it, all my apps will be all over the place and I will waste hours trying to get it back to the way it was. I don't really have a reason to check the box but I don't know. should I check the box and have to reorganize all my apps or leave it "un-synced"?
by "un-synced" I mean how it is on my iPod and iTunes at the same time but its not synced
this happened b/c I had to make a new user acct on my only [Windows 7] computer and when i clicked transfer purchases, this happened.
any help would be greatly appreciated
And as you can see ( besides my problem here) i am out of dropbox space. it would be nice if you can click http://db.tt/TQiPs59V to make an acct to give me and you more space

You should ALWAYS make sure that everything is on your computer and backed up, most especially before any update. The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer regularly.
If you have failed to do this, then you need to redownload:

What's the origin of this external drive? It sounds very much like it's a Windows-formatted (NTFS) drive which Macs can't write to. If you can, copy the files off the drive, reformat it as Mac format (using Disk Utility) and copy the files back. If you need to continue writing to it from a Windows PC, you should format it ExFAT in Disk Utility.

After I updated to iTunes 9.0.3.15 I tried to sync my iPod Touch. All went well until this error message popped up; "Some of the items in the iTunes Library, including "headstrong", were not copied to the iPod "Sam's iPod" because you are not authorized to play them on this computer." ok so I go and authorize it type in my PW and Apple ID correctly and get this error message!; "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The file or directory is corrupt and unreadable. There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please Try Again later."
I run diagnostics and this is what I got and pass all the tests except for the CD in the drive, could anyone please help? It won't allow me to sync any apps to my iTouch and half of my purchased music.

Are you on a Mac? I found this [Type -36 error (I/O Errors (bummers)|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2433]
This file is having difficulty while either reading from the drive or writing to the drive. The file
may have been improperly written data to the drive or the hard drive or disk may be damaged.
This is almost always indicative of a media error (hard error on the disk). Sometimes (rarely) it is transient.
Solutions: Try copying the file to another drive. Use a disk recovery software, such as Disk First Aid to examine the disk. You can try rebooting with all extensions off. Once in a while this will allow you to read the data. The file in question should be restored from a backup that was stored on a different disk. Regular backups can reduce the time to recover from this error.
    Hope that helps.

  • I don't see my iPad2 on my iTunes when recharging

My iMac and devices are all in the iCloud and when recharging, I can see my iPhone on my iTunes under devices but not my iPad 2, I thought after the updaate to iOS 5 and iCloud your devices would appear on my iTunes when charging (backing up).

  • I don't seem to have the genius playlist option on my iPod touch 5th generation-what to I do???

I didn't jailbreak my ipod or download any pirated stuff. I actually only found out that my ipod should have the genius playlist option after reading a review on it. But when I checked under playlists in my music app, only the 'purchased' playlist is showing. What do I do to get the genius playlist?????

I have a first generation iPod, when I try to upload apps it won't allow me to. It says "this app is incompatible with this iPod touch". I have updated my ipod to try and fix this problem but the update didn't make a difference. It says the software on my ipod is ios 4.2.1

  • App store and Itunes store working on ipod touch.

I have and ipod touch (4g) and like in the united states. All of a sudden, randomly when i attempted to download a podcast on the itunes store on my ipod, a message popped up and said something along the line of "this item is currently not available in the Zimbaebwa store" now there is virtually no content what so ever that usually would be on my app store and itunes store. It seems like my ipod thinks its in Zimbaebwa. I have already restored settings on ipod. Should i do a factory reset on the computer or what?
    Thank you.

  • Error in recognizing the "photo" tab in Itunes when syncing to Ipad

    Hi guys,
I am not able to sync the photos with my Ipad anymore. When the IPad is connected to the Mac and ITunes is running, the Ipad is detected but the the last tab "Photos" in the upper right side if ITunes cannot show me the options to check the boxes of which photos I would like to sync. I've already restored the IPad, changed the computer, updated the iTunes version, but the problem remains. It seems not to be a problem with the ITunes since this event does not occur with my IPhone. My ITunes version is 11.2.2 (3), my Iphoto version in 8.1.2 (424) and my OS X version is 10.9.2. The device is an IPad 2 MC980GP/A.
I attached a printed screen image to give you an example.
And when a try to transfer photos by dragging files from iPhoto to Itunes, an error message indicates that the files could not be copied since the file type is not compatible with my iPad. As you can see, I am transferring .jpg, .png and .bmp photo files.... so
I could transfer some photos with the TunesGo for Mac but I really wanna fix this problem and continue transferring my photos from iPhoto using the iTunes.
    Thank y'll for the help.
    Bruno

my Iphoto version in 8.1.2 (424) and my OS X version is 10.9.2.
Your iPhoto version is not compatible with Mavericks, even if it is working. In the long run, consider to upgrade to iPhoto 9.5.1 and MacOS X 10.9.4.
You seem to have covered most of the trouble shooting already. Perhaps it is problem with broken preferences files.
Open your Home/Library/Preferences folder and move these files to the Desktop, if they exist:
    com.apple.iApps.plist
    com.apple.iApps.lockfile
Then reboot and try syncing the photos again.
Your User library is hidden by default since MacOS X 10.7.  Lion.
Select the "Home" folder icon (the little house)  in the Finder's sidebar and press the key combination ⌘J to open the "view options".
    Enable "Show Library Folder".
Then open the "Library" folder in your home folder, locate the "Preferences" folder and remove the  files
    mentioned above.

  • Twelve of my third-party apps essentially uninstall themselves when I sync my iPod Touch.

Here's the kicker: in NO WAY did I uncheck their boxes, yet iTunes keeps thinking I want to remove them. I am at a loss what to do, as the support articles on Apple's site aren't helpful. This has not occurred before today.
I suspect this has its roots in something I possibly did this afternoon when I sat down to sync my iPod Touch (3rd generation) to my computer (PowerBook G4).
When I plugged the sync cord into the iTouch, I realized I forgot to turn off WiFi before beginning this, as push notifications halt the syncing. Just before the Sync in Progress screen, I touched the Settings icon when I realized I'd forgotten the WiFi. Since then, despite my attempts, the apps, when selected and dragged over to the desired screens, do not "stick" as the syncing progresses.
As you can imagine, it is frustrating, because I use these apps to varying degrees. For the record, they are: Best Buy, Converter, eBay Classifieds, eBay Mobile, Flashlight, Flicker, Free Wi-Fi-Finder, HBO, PayPal, Target, TextFree, Walmart, and Wikipedia Mobile. Attempts to download them from the App Store via the device result in a message saying that I need to have iOS 4.x, The problem, however, is that I am presently unable due to financial issues to upgrade my PowerBook's OS from Tiger to Leopard, so I can upgrade iTunes from 9.1.1 to 10.x, and ultimately the iOS to 4.x from 3.1.3.
Given my situation, what can I do by myself to remedy this? If push comes to shove, I'll see an Apple Genius, something for which I'll make an appointment anyway.
    Sincerely,
    Dieter Zakas

Well this won't work for me...
I had all of my apps and music stored in iTunes, I updated to the newest 9.2 iTunes and did a 4.0 update to my iPhone 3G all the while not noticing that EVERYTHING IN iTUNES was GONE. When I got done updating my iPhone it was late so i went to bed... Next day came back to sync everything and thats when I saw it was all gone...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
did what the link said and NOW I have all my 6K+ MUSIC back but not ONE APP. The App's are completely gone from when you nav. to the location the link says... There isn't a mobile sync folder there...
NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT... Very Frustrated and MAD. I don't want to redownload all my apps manually. TO many to do it that way.

  • I cannot download Adobe Reader app using my IPod Touch 4th Generation due to iOS upgrade.

I have an IPod Touch 4th Generation (the older model) and the highest operating system stops at iOS 6.1.6. Unfortunately, when I tried to download Adobe Reader app, it only works for the newer IPod Touch 5th Generation with an operating system of iOS 7.0 or higher. My question is that since I cannot download Adobe Reader app, is there a way for me to open PDF files on my IPod Touch by using Safari? There is no way I can find an Adobe Reader app that works for my operating system or an operating system that works for iOS 6.0 or lower. Is there another program similar to Adobe Reader where I can open PDF files that works for iOS 6.0 or lower?
    Thanks.

    Krispy2010,
Please note that my instructions are intended for Adobe Reader for iOS, not for all iOS apps in general.
Adobe Reader for iOS does offer earlier compatible versions for iOS 5 and 6 via the App Store.  Because the supported iOS version for Adobe Reader for iOS is 5 or later.
Tech specs | Adobe Reader mobile app
However, I cannot speak for other apps, such as Costco app and NFL app that you have mentioned.  It is up to each individual app developer/company to decide whether to take advantage of Apple's App Store's features to offer earlier versions.
Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support
If a compatible version isn't available, you can try contacting the app developer. Look for contact information on the app's product page in the App Store or Mac App Store.
