Go into Finder on the menu bar. In General check which items you want to appear on the desk top. If you choose *CDs,DVDs, and iPods* it will appear when one of these is connected.

Installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo) will reinstall the App Store for you.
Restart your Mac after the combo is installed then try purchasing Aperture.

I haven't updated yet. Apple's download servers have been too busy. Did you know you can update via wifi instead of connection to your computer?

Please always state your operating system when you have a question. Lion 10.7.2 minimum is required for iCloud; the Preference pane does not appear in earlier systems.

Don't see LR in the CC desktop app that I just purchased.

I just purchased the creative cloud with photoshop and lightroom. I had previously installed the cc as a trial and had also used a trial of LR months ago. PS cc is fine, but now that I purchased the monthly membership, I am unable to download LR. LR is not even an option on the desktop app. I read other member's questions and tried uninstalling the trial of LR and rebooted, still don't see LR in the CC desktop app. Not sure what to do next. thx don. was somewhat aware of finder pref access. however, seems as I am burning various DVD's the DVD icon disapears completely. WIll try PRAm per a freind although not sure if memory addresses issue.

I'm trying to mirror my iPad 2 or my iPhone 4S to my Apple TV but I don't see the Airplay icon on either device.

I have an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4S. I bought Apple TV recently and I've gotten bored of just using it to stream Netflix. I've been trying all morning to get Airplay to work on either my iPad or my iPhone, but I don't even see the Airplay icon when I doubleclick the Home button and swipe right. For a while when I first bought my Apple TV, I was able to play movies from my MacBook to my AppleTV, but now I don't see that option on my MacBook either. What is going on?!? At this point, I'm feeling like AppleTV might have been a waste of $99 if it's so difficult to get to work properly, but there has to be something that is wrong. I haven't changed any security settings or anything recently, and all my devices are running off the same wifi network. I tried everything that Apple says to do if Airplay doesn't work, but nothing is helping.

You have to swipe in a left to right motion. If the airplay icon isn't showing up it's likely something within your network that is blocking it. You can also try rebooting devices and router.

You don't see it as a separate app/icon, it only appears as Settings > iCloud

Hold down the Power button until the computer shuts down (save your open files first)
Wait a few seconds and hold down the d key, now tap the power button to boot the computer
keep holding the d key and run the hardware test, write down any errors it finds and then take your machine to Apple.
click Shutdown and the disk will eject.
You likely need a SMC reset

Can't see hard drive icon on desktop

Just got my daughter a new MA 13" 2011...installing some software via the external superdrive when I realized that I can't see the HD icon on the desktop...am I missing something to make it visible? Other than that if functions properly...I can "see" it when installing software as it lets me choose it as an install destination....

Activate the Finder, select Preferences from the Finder menu, click on the General icon in the toolbar, check the boxes for what you want displayed on the Desktop. You can do the same thing for the sidebar by clicking on the Sidebar icon in the toolbar.

The lock appears in the Status Bar at the bottom of your Firefox window when you are on a secure site. To turn Status Bar on: click View, if no check mark next to Status Bar, click on Status Bar to place a check mark. See:
