I don't see my color correction filters?

Hello again,
I'm working with a subclip that I created from a capture that I made from my video camera and I am having trouble finding the color correction tools that were available when I went through the Color Correction tutorial. I opened up my video in the viewer and switched to the Color Correction window layout. In my viewer I have the following tabs, Video, Mono (a1), Mono (a2), Filters, and Motion where I can't find any of the settings for brightness or RGB control. How do I find these controls?
Thanks

Have you added the 3 way color correction filter to the clip?

Is it possible to turn off the fluid grid function in dreamweaver during the process of building your site by mistake? It was working fine and simply stopped and I don't see how to correct what is wrong.

There is no specific function that turns FGL on or off.
When you say that it has stopped, do you mean that the handles no longer show?
If that is the case, then I think you may have modified the CSS to such an extent that Dreamweaver no longer recognises it as belonging to FGL.
There are a couple of avenues for you
Redo the site and make sure not to touch the FGL CSS
paste the code here so that we can see what has gone wrong.

  • Can't see secondary color correction in the viewer! Help...

Hello, fairly new at FCPro but I am trying to isolate reds in a clip and change them to purple & orange. I am using the Color Corrector Filter and when isolating the reds and making adjustments I do not see any changes in the viewer.
The eyeball icon on the top left of the window is checked but I can't visually see any changes happening. Can someone please tell me what is going on?
    Thanks,
    Dan G

One other simple gotcha is to be color correcting but the viewer is not showing the current clip (the one you are working on...)
Thanks for posting back. Good to have closure on questions.

  • Color correction filters do not APPEAR to work

    Hi All,
I have been working FCS as long as it has been around and have just come across a strange issue:
I apply a Color Correction filter (does not matter which one)
-In the Viewer screen the filter appears and i can move the adjustments
-The render Bar changes color in the timeline
-No color correction appears to take place in either the Canvas window or the scopes.
    Here are my sequence settings:
    Compressor: Apple Prores 422 (HQ)
    Quality 100%
Render all YUV material in high-precision YUV
Process Maximum White as Super White
    Motion Filtering Quality Best
    Render Frame rate 100%
    Resolution 100%
    Codec same as Sequence Codec
My Computer setup is listed in my Profile.
    Latest FCS, latest OS
    Any clues?
    Thanks!

Studio X is exactly right. I've tried the Bunnahabhain solution and it works. Why? I have NO idea. How an inanimate object (Mac computer and FCP software) can "heal thyself" overnight is beyond my comprehension. Anyway, in the end, I'm sure only Steve Jobs knows the answer and he put a block on my calls. So the only thing I can add is that the key is the Bunnahabhain. Under NO circumstances should you substitute the Bunnahabhain. I did and was beaten soundly by a couple of undercover "Geniuses" from the Apple store.
Another helpful thing is to NEVER sit down in the presence of your Mac with a negative attitude toward it or Steve Jobs. I promise you it can sense it and it will punish you. Clear your mind of negativity and become one with the universe BEFORE you begin to edit on a Mac. This is imperative. No one asked you to join the cult. Like it or not, you're in it now and there is NO escape.

  • How do I load color corrected RMD (RED) files in CS5.

I have edited RED footage in cs5.
I now have received color corrected RMD files - however I don't see the color correction on any clips in the timeline.
What do I need to do to make sure edited footage (R3D files) on the timeline reflect color correction.
I tried replacing footage, it didn't work - if I import the R3D again, apply the cuts and place on timeline I see color correction but I am sure there's a better way to do this. Any pointers will be great.
    Thanks.

The following text from Adobe seems to indicate that there is "more" with CS5.5:
    (taken from: http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/extend.displayTab2.html#REDSupport)
The RED R3D Source Settings dialog box in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 offers extensive control over the look of RED raw footage. In conjunction with the ability to change color settings per clip, you can save combinations of adjustments as custom presets, which can be applied to individual or multiple clips. The controls in the Source Settings dialog box include:
Debayer Detail — Vary the level of detail extracted from the image sensor.
Chroma — Denoise the red/blue channels.
OLPF Compensation — Eliminate color Moire fringes by controlling the optical low-pass filter (OLPF) that refines edge detail.
Maximum Bit Depth — Use this global setting to choose between 32-bit float and 8-bit.
White Balance — Manipulate Kelvin, Tint, and Saturation levels.
Timecode — Select the timecode track to use from the R3D file.
Color Settings — Adjust the ISO setting, exposure, red, green, blue, brightness, contrast, and highlight levels.
Color Space — Select the desired color space from among Camera RGB For RAW; Rec 709, the standard color space for HD; and REDspace, which is a more saturated variation of Camera RGB.
Gamma Curve — Override the gamma curve selection using several preset gamma curves.
User Curve — Use a custom curve created by the camera operator.

  • Filters put on in final cut don't work in color

I put magic bullet color correction filters on my clips in fcp and I wanted to send them to color to tweak them a little but after I send them they revert to their original color. How do I make sure that the clips that I send to color keep the filters I put on them in fcp?

As Floridajo mentioned, the only filter that Color recognizes is the 3-way Color Corrector. And that only applies as a Primary In correction.
However, because of XML, when you return your rendered clips back to Final Cut Pro, the original filters will still be applied to your clips.

  • Color correction questions

I have a few questions about the color correction tools in Premiere CS4.
    1. Suppose that the colors in my shot are basically correct, but the blacks have a tint to them.  Which is the best color correction filter to use to correct for this?
    2. Do any of the color correction filters desaturate secondary colors?  I have a shot that would probably look fine if I could just desaturate the yellows.
I know that this can be done in Photoshop.
    3. Is there a good technique in Premiere for matching colors between two scenes or cameras?  I know Avid's color correction has a specific setting for this.
    Thanks in adance!
    J. D.

    1) tint in black probably means white balance was off a bit ( not matched to your light source).
Can try to correct WB overall and get rid of black tint ( use eye dropper and choose the black area that's supposed to be black and make it black...see what happens to the rest of your image colors )
    2) maybe broadcast colors...which has some tendency to imitate "selective color" in photoshop, as you adjust stuff ...
    3) no ...except maybe ( again ) broadcast colors ...  but probably you have to do by eye or LUT...but basically no
I'm kinda new at this so dont take my word as gospel...someone else may have cool ideas ( they usually do )

  • RED Color Correction Confusion

I'm re-editing a short shot on the RED.  There's definitely some color correction applied to it.  However, there are no video filters applied.  I'm trying to figure out what was done to achieve the color correction.  When I copy the clip to a different sequence, the color correction disappears.  I don't want to ask the filmmakers that gave it to me because I don't want to sound baffled, which I am.  Does anyone have any idea how footage can be corrected within FCP without filters?

No number or release date for that version is yet available. What was being accessed, how it was being connected, rendered... proxy or not, was sort of sketchy -- logical output from a "Mysterium" sensor, I guess. They keep on telling us that we'll be working with the 4K files.... More will be revealed, I assume in the next few months. I just hope the Emperor is fully clothed.

  • Magic Bullet Colorista & Color correction w/o it

I can't seem to make Magic Bullet Colorista to install on my system and I've given up with it. I'm just curious, is there any way to do what it does with the AE supplied effects? Maybe some tutorial on it? Sorry, I haven't done much of the color correction before.
    Thank you!

The 64 bit version of Colorista for CS4 and CS5 has only been out for a few days, I think.  So unless you tried this brand new version, your test was not an accurate representation of what the software can do on your system.
The key about these types of after market plugins is that they claim to do things faster than you can do otherwise.  You can certainly do great color correction with the included tools right in AE.  But which is "easiest" and how often to do you need to do this is the question that one should consider to determine the worthyness of an external plug-in like this one.
I agree that Red Giant was a bit late to the game with their 64 bit compatible plug-ins.  They should have seen this coming and got them working long before CS5 came out.  They act like they are doing their customers a favor by releasing 64 bit system compatible plug-ins and charging for the upgrade in the process.  I can see where they are loosing a lot of potential clients due to this.

  • CS5.5 Can't see Pantone Color Bridge libraries!

    Hello there!
I am using Creative Suite CS5.5 Trial version for now on Windows 7 platform. For some reason I don't see Pantone Color Bridge libraries, only the old ones, but none of the Plus Series. I was able to see these colors on version 5, but not here. Can't see them on Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign. I wonder if CS5.5 supports these colors. I even downloaded a plugin from Pantone and Pantone Color Manager, but with no luck. I contacted Pantone, but still waiting for a response. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

  • Color Correction in Encore from Premiere

When I open my Encore project which consists of a Master show from Premiere (composed of multiple timelines), it doesn't see the color correction used in Premiere.
Curiously, Encore 5.1 does (although this was fraught with transcoding issues, hence my jump to 6).

No. Original was created in premiere 5.5 and dynamically linked to encore
5.1 via timelines containing the various sequences from premiere. The
burned dual layered dvd would freeze at 7:24 in the 5th chapter and return
to the main menu.  I opened that encore project in encore 6 and burned a
fully-functional did with the exception of the encore 6 project wouldn't
see the color correction effects from the premiere5.5 project to which it
    was directed.

  • Color correcting in Premiere or Photoshop?

I'm new to Premiere and want to color correct some footage. I'm also new to color correcting. Am I better off learning to color correct my footage in Premiere or should I bring it into Photoshop to do it there?
    Thanks.

A dedicated color correction app is on its way, maybe CS6. However, we find using the fast color corrector and the three way color corrector in PP quite effective for the basic primary/secondary color correction we do. Gotta watch your scopes though (waveform/vectorscope at the very least). Creative Cow has some tutorials on basic color correction. Here's one, but you'll have to dig around for the others by Andrew Devis. Again, don't do any color correction without checking your scopes.

  • Color correcting in Color or Final Cut after cutting footage?

    Hello all,
I'm about to begin cutting a multi-cam sequence in final cut pro with 2-3 camera angles. Is there a way to color correct in either Color or Final Cut Pro, all of the video used in a specific multi-cam angle?
In other words, if I'm cutting between Cam A and Cam B and finish my cutting, can I then go back and color correct all of the Cam A shots without having to manually click on every shot that used Cam A?
    Thanks so much

  • FCP to Color - what happens to color corrections?

I usually just strip the color correction filters out of FCP clips before sending to Color.
Just wondering what happens if one leaves them in?
    B

    The Book says this:
Filters: Final Cut Pro FXScript or FxPlug filters are neither previewed nor rendered by Color. However, their presence in your project is maintained, and they show up again once the project is sent back to Final Cut Pro.

  • Color corrections Premier CS3 !

    Dear friends !!
Last night i was browsing through this forums and few other pages on the net and found a place ,like a tutorial about CS3 color corrections
I very much believe that was somewhere in this forums , where it shows step by step how to do color correction, I remember there was a picture of some kind of wooden cabin with a picture of drop and it was showing the graphs as well .
    Any idea ? please
    very much preciated .

I do not have the tutorial in question, but I can at least get you started with the effects you probably will be using.  The two main CC's I will use are either the Fast Color Correction or the Three Way Color Correction filters.  You can also get something out of this tutorial.
