I don't stay logged into webpages

When I close the browser, I get logged off all my sites. What I mean is, for example, facebook. When I log in, i check the box to "stay logged in". however when i close my firefox browser, the next time i open up firefox and go to facebook, i need to log in again! I've never had this problem before and its not just with facebook, its gmail and any other site i use.

* Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
* You must allow that cookie (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions), especially for secure websites and if you let cookies expire when Firefox closes
* Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"

  • Safari... can't stay logged into sites after navigating away, or switching to/from other applications.

Ok so I have a Macbook Pro(2009) with Safari Version 5.1.2 and I can't stay logged into websites. For example.... If I'm logged into facebook, I then navigate to google and then back to facebook, I will then be logged out. Now before you say it, yes, I check the keep me logged in buttons on sites and this is not even close to being exclusive to facebook, just merely an example. This also occurs if I stay on the web page I'm signed in on then open up, lets say, itunes. When I then go back to the webpage, I'm signed out again. This is rediculously frustrating. It makes safari completely unusable with any application or with multiple webpages. I usually love safari and never wanted to switch to any other browser but I don't think I can hold out much longer with this. Also, I'm not sure if theres any other info that someone would need to help diagnose this bug but let me know and I'll post it. Thanks for any help in advance.
    -frustrated safari user

I, too, have this problem. I have used Macs for years and have never had this problem before. It has just started and I'm not sure if I did a Safari update recently which might have created the issue. From reading on-line posts, this apparently has existed for years and now it is just my turn.
Firefox works fine; I stay logged in on Firefox 'forever' but I prefer Safari. If it continues, I'll be using Firefox.

  • Won't stay logged into google

My iPhone five won't stay logged into my google account in safari. I've checked the stay logged in box but I only get about two
Visits before it kicks me off. My company uses google calendar so I need to check it throughout the day to see what's going on.
    Ay ideas?

    Hello,
I'm going to take a shot at this. I suspect Tiger is remembering the old settings that were initially entered when you had no password. I'm running Leopard, and the Internet settings are in a different location from Tiger. I believe you go to Applications->Internet Connect. Set up your connection manually, matching your router's settings. If this doesn't work, or the settings still don't stick, then I'd suggest deleting the settings for your router, and then re-adding it with the correct info.

  • Trouble staying logged into websites

It seems that after updating to Yosemite and Safari 8, I'm having trouble staying logged into some sites such as Facebook and Netflix. I have the "keep me logged in" button checked too. After a couple minutes or so of browsing or watching an episode, it automatically logs me out. I even tried clearing the Cache on Safari but that didn't help.
PS. Trying to post this thread, it told me that I was logged out. :/

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Safari will not stay logged into Facebook/Pinterest/Fitocracy/etc. after Mavericks upgrade. How to fix?

After upgrading to Mavericks, Safari now will not stay logged into any site that requires a username/password, such as Facebook, Pinterest, Fitocracy, etc.  I can log in and browse for a minute or so, then all of a sudden it is as if I am not logged in.  As an example, Facebook will require me to log in again, remember browser, and then I get the security warning email since I have that feature activated with Facebook.  It is as if Safari completely forgets everything.  I believe it has to do with the new iCloud username/password sync function...  How does this get fixed?

    Try deleting the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
    Quit and relaunch Safari.
If you still have problems, try troubleshooting Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. I
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

  • Safari will NOT allow me to stay logged into Yahoo.

What gives? Yahoo has a feature that allows a user to stay logged in for 2 weeks, but every time I shut off safari I am logged out.
If I use firefox I stay logged in, but I really would prefer to use safari.
Any one else having this problem?

Since none of the usual fixes seem to resolve this issue, it looks as though it's something at the system level, but I don't know what that would be.
The only suggestion I have at this point is to apply the 10.5.4 Combo Update (even if you've already done it before) and that may fix this problem. Just be sure you have a backup of all your critical files and programs before you do this, just in case the unthinkable happens.

  • Since downloading the update for Firefox 3.6.10 all websites that I previously stayed logged into must be logged into everytime I open them. Why? And can this be fixed?

This has happened with previous Firefox updates but only after the initial update. Once I logged into websites such as facebook, yahoo, hotmail etc. I stayed logged in and was able to access these sites without having to log in each and every time. I have checked all boxes on these and all other sites to remember passwords and to keep me logged in and I still have to log in on each new visit. I rebooted my computer and this did not help. I made sure that Remember Passwords was checked on the Security tab under Options in the Tools for Firefox.

How can Mozilla be contacted to report this problem directly to them instead of posting to a forum?

  • Why do I stay logged into Gmail even though browser.sessionstore.privacy_level is set to 1?

When I close my browser I expect not to still be logged in to secure sites (e.g. Gmail) when I reopen it. I know FF stopped this behaviour by default in FF4, so I have set browser.sessionstore.privacy_level to 1 which I believe should enforce this behaviour. However of late Gmail is still logged in when I reopen FF even after a complete shutdown of the computer for a day or so.
I've checked the browser.sessionstore.privacy_level setting and it's still set to 1.
This is definitely happening in in FF 25.0.1 on Ubuntu 13.10. I think it's also happening on my Windows (XP and 7) machines, but don't have them to hand to check.
Any ideas what else I should check?

I think there is some confusion about how Google's cookies work and what browser.sessionstore.privacy_level does.
You can allow Google to set two different kinds of cookies:
    (1) ''Persistent'' cookies ("Keep until: they expire")
These expire on a future date. These cookies are not at all affected by the session restore settings.
    (2) ''Session'' cookies ("Keep until: I close Firefox")
These cookies expire from the cookie database when you exit Firefox but may be restored if you restore your previous session.
With the default setting of browser.sessionstore.privacy_level=0, these session cookies are kept in your previous session data so that you can return to your prior Google session without logging in again.
With browser.sessionstore.privacy_level=1, session cookies from secure sites are NOT kept in your previous session data. When you restore the Google tab, you should be logged out in that tab (for example, you may get the login screen instead of your inbox).
Rather than flush ''all'' your cookies at shutdown, another approach is to set your cookies to be session cookies by default, and then make exceptions for sites where you want to stay logged in from session to session (e.g., forums or other sites that aren't sensitive).
The general setting is on the Privacy tab of the Options/Preferences dialog. [[Enable and disable cookies that websites use to track your preferences]].
To set site-specific exceptions, you can use the Exceptions button on the Privacy tab, or use the Page Info dialog while viewing a page on the site. Either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Permissions
    * Tools menu > Page Info > Permissions
    * right the padlock icon in the address bar > More Information > Permissions

  • How do I stay logged into my service provider home page.

I have an ATT Account and use the classic home page with the Firefox Browser. I want to stay logged in for at least 2 weeks or more, but each time I enter the Firefox browser, it requires me to re-insert my full ID and Password. How do I change this so I will remain signed in for a period of at least two weeks before having to enter the email ID and password again. I've added an exception for this site in the Tools section and it still doesn't work.

My sign in box no longer has the 2 week check box, how do I get it back?

  • IPhone email stays logged into pop3 server, never logging out

I have an iPhone 4 with the latest firmware/software.
My email provider is SureWest. They have a pop3 server I use to retrieve my email from their server. This works fine.
I also use Outlook Express on my Windows machine at home to download this same email.
I have the iPhone set to check for new email every 15 minutes. It leaves a copy on the pop3 server, so I can download the same emails when I get to my home computer.
The problem is that the iPhone appears to stay "logged in" to the pop3 server, so when I get home, and try to check my email, I get an error message from SureWest, saying that I am already logged in. But I'm not!
To solve the problem, I have to power off my iPhone, wait a minute or two, then check my email from the home computer.
Seems silly that the iPhone just stays "logged in" to the pop3 server.
    Any fixes/updates for this problem?

  • Is there a way to stay logged into f/b on my ipod?

Every time I stop using my iPod it goes off after 1 minute and I have to enter both my name and my p/w to get back into f/b. Is there a way I can keep it on until I decide to sign out of it?  Also I downloaded f/b and then it said download f/b for ipod so I did it again.  Is there any difference.  I don't see it.  Can I delete one?  Also one icon shows my name under it and the other just says Welcome to Facebook.

Sorry, no. If you quit your browser or shut down your machine, you'll have to log back in on the next visit. Best thing to do is bookmark the Sign-In page....
    Good luck.
