I don't understand how people can use AppleTV after v2.0

Ever since version 2.0 came out, I've found the AppleTV completely unusable. For one, a minor annoyance is that when I switch to the AppleTV in the source list on my TV, there is a five second lag where the AppleTV is doing something before it becomes available.
The problem that makes it unusable is when I scroll down the My Movies section it will go down the list until I pause for a second, then it will jump back up to the top of the list. This makes the AppleTV under version 2.3 unusable. I can't play any movie other than the one on the top of the list.
I switched back to v1.0 a while ago after having a bunch of other problems I can't recall. I just updated to version 2.3 just to see if there were any improvements but there hasn't been. I don't see how other people aren't complaining about this. Anything over v2.0 is unusable. The problems of .Mac have shifted from MobileMe to AppleTV. Does anyone use this at Apple?

Apart from the 2.0+ top level interface being butt ugly and confusing to navigate, it simply isn't as responsive as 1.0/1.1 and I think most of this is to do with displaying a combined sync/stream menu. if you sync stuff try setting 'show only synced items' in the AppleTv device tabs in iTunes and see if it makes the issue go away - easy to revert back.
Huge libraries (number of files not actual size of the files) can also be problematic given AppleTV's modest hardware specs but that's more exception than the rule.
With streaming/syncing combined I also think any network deficiencies show up more than they used to.

Can someone help me understand how I can use cable cards with external digital tuners?
Here's my situation. I currently have a PC with an internal TV tuner card. I connect the internal TV tuner card to a standard QIP2500-2 Set Top Box. I've never been very happy with this setup, although it mostly works. But, I can only record or watch one channel at a time. In addition, changing channels requires a silly IR blaster so changing channels from Windows Media Center uses the IR remote signals to change channels on the set top box.
I was thinking I could use a product like this together with a cable card from Verizon, eliminating the set top box. I read the FAQ here but I am still unclear about how cablecards work and what capabilities they enable. My questions are:
1) The FAQ says using a cablecard eliminates the use of the online TV guide. How then does one schedule recordings in windows media center? It would seem silly to have to still have a STB just to get the program guide. What do others do about this?
2) Are the cable cards provided by Verizon compatible with the above product shown in the link? The Verizon FAQ says the device must be marked "DCR" to be compatible, but looking at all the digital tuner products at NewEgg, none of them seem to be marked with "DCR". They say, "m-CARD".
3) What are others out there doing to utilize FIOS TV with a computer and not have a set top box?
Thanks for any insight!I haven't used the SiliconDust product, but I have been using a similar product by Ceton, for nearly five years.
By inserting a CableCARD into the tuner, you would have access to the same channels as a set-top box. You rent a cableCARD from Verizon, just like you'd rent a set-top box from them. I have an m-card, which just allows multiple channels to be tuned at once, unlike the older s-card.
You do, however, lose Pay Per View and on-demand programming. For me, it's not a great loss.
The program guide is handled through Windows Media Center, which holds programming data for the next 14 days. You schedule your recordings there. It's also smart enough to reschedule shows, if there's a recording conflict (too many scheduled shows, not enough tuners)
Although you can contunue to use an IR blaster (I use one), you can also get a Media Center companion app from Ceton. It doesn't require a Ceton tuner...it will still control Media Center. The app costs a few bucks, but it's worth it. They make it for Android and Apple, and maybe Windows Phone. It will let you manage your schedules, and use your phone/tablet as a remote control over WiFi.
Buy a big hard drive to hold your scheduled recordings. Expect to use an average of 10-15 gigabytes per hour of HD recording. The beauty of this system, is that you can just add another hard drive whenever you need more space, sonething the STB's won't let you do.
For service in other rooms, use an Xbox360 if you have one. Or, buy a Ceton Echo extender (again, doesn't require a Ceton tuner). Don't use Wi-Fi for your extenders. Wired Ethernet is a must...most wireless won't be able to keep up.

What kind of attachment you are trying to download? After downloading, it should appear with the icon of the program that mostly likely will open it.

If you have no backups, and data has been lost, then it's lost forever. The rest of your data will inevitably follow if you don't back up.

MartinOK and when I run desktop manager then what do I do? There are no instructions after this setup with my mobile carrier, they just leave me hanging. Also, is my phone going to be wiped or will it just update the OS? I don't want to lose all my settings that took me hours to setup on this thing and have to redo everything all over again. Backup? I don't understand how to do that either (again all of this is new to me). I don't have a second phone where I can call T-Mobile on the phone and have them walk me through it, I only have my cell that's it. They refuse to give me instructions unless I'm on another phone when I call them, why they won't let me write them down is beyond me...these carriers are getting mighty picky these days on customer service/technical support.

It asks you to pick a foreground color, use the pen tool and make a traingle with the points, completing your last point by clicking on the first and completing the loop.
Then it wants you to go to Ctrl+Click on the path, add a few new points, and drag them around to warp the path but I cannot warp it like in the tutorial. I just get some random shapes and inversion of foreground color and white.
How do I do step 2?
Thanks.Those are basic path adjustments. With the pen tool selected, you Ctrl+click on the path to make sure it's selected and then click on the path a couple of times with the Pen tool to add some anchor points which you then modify

When I use Photoshop CS 6 to edit video, I don't know how to change video speed after I converted the clip to smart object? The clip color turns purple and it only allows me to add motion but not change the clip duration and speed anymore.
Thanks for the reply and as a work around method I used the Photoshop to do all the adjustments then export the video to iMovie to finish the final cut. I also have a problem to paint or clone on a blank video layer created in Photoshop. It tells me the time is beyond the target frame time, I don't understand the message. how I can use an image in my Java Application when I create the jar bundle with Jar Bundler? Which is the path of the file? I don't know if I got it across...By image, do you mean an icon for your program?
If so, then you need to create the image you want using any graphical drawing program, then use a utility such as Img2icns to put the image into the correct format (.icns). Once you have this, you can drag it into Jar Bundler and IIRC it just works.

My system consists of differents vi´s.Some of them are used to read analogic inputs and digital inputs, using the serial port.
The values that I read, go through differents vi to be proccesed, and at the end, these values are written in a file, all the values in the same file.
My problems of synchronization are:
1. I have one vi per input, and all of them use the same serial port. How can I synchronize them to avoid serial port conflicts? (using queues??) And how can I do, to get differents number of samples/sg with every vi? I have to introduce them in differents loops?
2. The other problem is that, for example, I want to read 8 samples/ s but I only want
to write two samples every second. How can I do to avoid stoping the data flow?
Maybe, my problem is that I want to see the system like
one block, and I am ignoring that, although all the system works like a block, every part works using a different "speed". I don´t know how tools can I use to combine two ideas, working like an only system( data dependence, some vis need the data of others vi to be able to work) and working getting differents numbers of samples/s.
I have seen that there are synchronization vis. I am going to glance at them, maybe I find something interesting but I amsure that your help will be very useful?

GraciI think you are pretty much on the right track with Queues. I have implemented a very similar system myself using queues. I have even different systems connected to the serial interface, but I can synchronise them all easily using the following method:
1) Make a VI for opening the serial port and reading the data. The data (parsed to extract the numbers required) are then stored in an array (Shift register). If the pre-determined time delay is reached (say 5 seconds) the values are averaged and written to a Queue with a defined data type. Save the VI as a VI template.
2) Make a VI which starts an instance of this template VI for every channel you require. You can use VI Server to set values on the new front panel before you set it's property to "running". Setting a timer value for all can help ensure that the X-Axis of your timing values (if you require) are synchronised. The clue here is to define and initiate a QUEUE per channel. (RS-232_1, RS-232_2 and so on). The QUEUE name needs to be passed to the VI Template before running so that each VI running in the background has an individual link to the main program.
The second part of this VI simply uses an array of QUEUES, polling them one after another with a timeout of, say 5 ms. If data is found, append accordingly to an XY-Graph.
I also add in some "Auto termination" in the VI template (MAx number of values allowed in the QUEUE for example) to allow for the background processes to find out if the front-VI is still running or not. There are many different ways to do this, shoose the best for your application.
With this approach, it's not even important what instrument is connected as long as data is written in a specified format into a known QUEUE. I have also developed systems where I can transparently (almost) drop in VI Templates for instruments with similar functionality (output data) from different suppliers.
I would post an example, but the time it would take me to clean it up is too large. Sorry. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask further questions.

The files are on a windows laptop and a hard drive hooked up to the windows laptop. The windows share server is pants, so I'd need some sort of third party server running. Maybe you weren't suggesting to use Samba to connect to the windows share though?
I'm glad that you've all understood my ramblings and taken and interest, thanks The way I see it, I can't be the only netbook user these days looking for this kind of convenience, and I certainly won't be once chrome and moblin hit the market.

Contact Apple through iTunes Store Support, and explain that you have forgotten your 3 security questions, that you can reset your password, but doing so doesn't reset your security questions.
Remember, support will receive hundreds, if not thousands of requests per day, some from people trying it on, others with little explanation and others that are written extremely poorly. Take the time to explain your situation properly, be precise and concise, brief but comprehensive. -
What about upgrading apps on your IPhone? I can't do that from where I live w/o connecting directly to my laptop. With Apple's new Itunes page, I don't see how I can navigate successfully now to acheive the same result as before. Hmmm. I would appreciate some quick guidance. Thanks.
With iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar that used to show on previous versions of iTunes via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC. You can then select the Apps part of your iTunes library on that sidebar and on the right-hand side of iTunes click the Check For Updates button at the bottom to see if any of your apps have updates available. Then connect your phone and select it on the sidebar, and on the Apps tab on the right-hand side click the Sync button at the bottom of it to copy the updates over
