I don't use Internet Explorer only Firefox why am I seeing things about Internet Explorer ???

I deleted Internet Explorer from my programs due to only using Firefox and Aol for my mail and email address but I am still seeing things that pertain to Internet explorer like my mail box shows outlook express when it should be and show aol. And I have 2 adobe players showing on my add-ons one is adobe player 11 active-x and adobe player 11 plugin, should I have both ???

A version of IE is included with Windows, and although you can make it hard to find, you can't actually remove it completely, or much of Windows would stop working correctly. I suggest not trying to root it out completely.
You might not need the ActiveX version of Flash if you do not use IE. But consider this: Some third party programs display HTML content (e.g., help and tutorials) using the hidden components of IE, and if those programs want to display Flash media, they will need the ActiveX version of Flash. So as long as it keeps itself up-to-date, I don't think there is much harm in keeping it around.
As for your mail program, the free mail program included with Windows XP was Outlook Express. It can retrieve mail from a wide variety of service providers and is pretty widely understood and supported. I'm not sure you want to lock yourself in to one particular provider's email program that might be harder to migrate to your next computer...

The setting you set in IE also affects Firefox. For example, if you set the following, then when Firefox makes a connection request to Windows, Windows is supposed to dial the connection:
Windows Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections or <br>
Internet Explorer Tools menu > Internet Options > Connections

Many thanks diesel. I cannot remember ever having an administrator password. Looks like I shall have to do a restore on my PC and not bother with the updates. Or maybe I could find my password from somewhere ? When I went into control panel I found a box with administrator and my name and it said password protected so I must have had one at some time. Sometimes I turn off my internet router intentionally & Firefox puts up an alert window about it being off. How do I disable this alert window?

When I'm out or go to bed at night, I turn off my wireless internet router. Sometimes I turn it off when I'm just going to be doing something that doesn't require me to be online. Whenever I do this, Firefox keeps putting up an alert window every two minutes telling me I have no connection (which I know). You need to do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Why is Safari shutting down my other internet programs like Firefox and Internet Explorer?

I just got an ipod not too long ago and when I plugged it into my computer, it installed not only itunes but safari as well. Everything was fine until about two weeks ago. The program Internet Explorer stopped working one morning. I didn't think Safari had anything to do with it. A few days later, Firefox shut down. Both said they could not connect to the internet. I was looking at my bookmarks in Safari yesterday, and I realized that Safari had moved over all bookmarks from Internet Explorer. How can I keep Safari from interfering with Internet Explorer and Firefox? And how can I bring Internet Explorer and Firefox back to life?

If you get a pop-up message asking to update Firefox or plugins or scanning for malware then such a message is likely a scam and you should never respond to such an alert to avoid getting infected with malware.

*Plugins should only be updated via the plugin itself or by visiting the home page of the plugin.

Can scroll through aol email only on internet explorer not firefox

When using firefox i cannot scroll through my aol email. I can only read the most recent 12 messages and deleting does not help. If i use internet explorer i am able to scroll down and read all. HELP!

I don't use a proxy server to connect to the internet, but Firefox automatically configures itself to use the loopback address.

I have a direct connection to the internet and don't use a proxy server. Every few weeks, Firefox automatically resets itself to be configured to use a proxy server at the loopback address (127.0.0.1). Manually changing it back to "No proxy" works, but I have to do so each time I open the browser or even a new tab. The only fix I can find is to create a new profile which gives me a new, clean install of FF, but then I lose all my add-ons. This has happened repeatedly now and it's extremely frustrating. I have scanned for malware but have not found any problems.

You can change the address bar drop-down so it only suggest bookmarked sites instead of everything in your history. Firefox has prevented an outdated plugin 'adobe flash' from running. This didn't start until the latest Firefox release, and I don't use M$Winblows. Linux only

I just started started seeing this after the latest firefox release. I see it on M$Winblows at work, Linux and Mac at home, so it isn't activex related for me. I can't upgrade Flash for Linux since Adobe stopped supporting it, but I haven't had any issues up until the last week. And as far as Mac and Windows, they are up to date in patches. Once again engineers just love to make things better. If there was a better alternitive to Firefox I'd use it.

The outdated Flash plugins is not due to any Firefox version or updates but due to a blocklist of vulnerable Flash plugins made on Dec 11/12. The Firefox 31.3.0esr and 34 were released on December 1st and the updated Flash came out on Dec 9.
