I don't want a menu

The only thing that I want to save and play is the slideshow. I don't want a menu page at all. I want the slideshow to start automatically when I open up the saved file. Does anyone know if this can be done? If so, how would I do this?

So I have imported my iPhoto slideshow into iDVD but there is a menu that then has the link to the slideshow. I do not want there to be any menu at all and for the slideshow to begin playing, and then loop, as soon as I put the DVD into a player. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!

You'll have to find the movie that iPhoto creates when you "Send to iDVD." It is usually in the Movies folder.
Then start a new iDVD project and follow the "kiosk" instructions above.

Some menu entries in the main menu bar are hidden if you use the mouse and only appear if you use the keyboard to open the menu (Bug 626825).
You can see the difference if you use Alt+F to open the File menu or other menus like the Edit menu (Alt+E) and Bookmarks menu (Alt+B) and compare that to what you see if you use the mouse to open the menu after you have made the menu bar visible by tapping Alt or by pressing F10.
* "Bookmark All Tabs" (Shift+Ctrl+D) no longer shows in the Bookmarks menu unless you open the Bookmarks menu via the keyboard (Alt + B).
* "Bookmark All Tabs" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of a tab on the tab bar.

Idvd menu - don't want one!

I've been looking for an answer all day without any luck. Maybe someone can help me..pleeeze. I'm trying to burn a dvd of several short videos without a menu. I just want the dvd to stop after each video and then advance to the next one when I press play on the player. Is this possible on idvd? I don't want a silly theme or menu. If not, what software out there can help me. Someone told me Toast, but that only burns and copies. if you can please help me.

Welcome to apple discussions. Just so you are aware, Toast does much more than what you pointed out above.
But if you wish to stay with iDvd as an Autostart Dvd then consider using a manual advance slideshow w/in iDvd (btw, the slideshow feature works great for both photos and movies; and especially shorter movies).
Once you've completed your manual advance slideshow (which also contains all your short movies) then go to Map View and drag and drop said slideshow to the very first/top box. Don't forget to use the loop feature as shown below so that you are not confronted later with a menu at the end of your presentation. Essentially the menu is hidden from your audience and your dvd will now play in Kiosk Mode w/o returning to a menu.

Short answer: They are not resizing, there is no quality lost. The dpi is only set when you decide what size you're printing at
Longer answer: Dpi means nothing in the digital world of your computer. There are no "inches" to have "dots per..." Size is measured in pixels. That's the same on your camera. It doesn't take 10 x 8 or 6 x 4 shots. It takes shots measured in megapixels. For instance 4,000 x 3,000 is a 12 megapixel camera.
Using that example, that shot from that camera has 12 million pixels. So that's how many "Dots" there are. To decide the ratio of dots per inch, you now need to decide the "inches" part. And that's printing. Print at 10 x 8 and the dpi will be 4,000/10 or about 400 dpi. At 6 x 4 then it's 4,000/6 or 660 dpi. Work the other way: Print at 300 dpi and the resulting image will be about 13 inches on the longer side.
So, your photo as a fixed number of pixels. Changing the dimensions of the print will vary the dpi, changing the dpi will vary the dimensions of the print.

Don't Want Menu @ Start - How To Delete?

I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum...my iDVD is 7.0.4.
Anyway, I'm trying to get a movie ready to burn onto DVD. I don't want any kind of theme or menu at the beginning. I have tried several times to delete the menu and can't. I have also looked up how to get rid of the menu on apple.com in the iDVD tutorials. That says to set the DVD for autoplay and loop the movie. I did this, but when it's rendering, I can see in the little preview box that it's adding on the default menu at the beginning. Any ideas on how to simply burn the movie I created in iMovie without all the extra themes and menus?

Welcome to apple discussions.

True. This is the best way to make a no theme dvd that is virtually invisible to the end user / when the dvd is first inserted into most set top dvd players. However one can still see a menu if the menu function/key on the remote control were to be selected. Keep in mind themes and menus do add playback stability (especially upon initial playback / when the dvd is first inserted into the dvd player).
If you truly wish to make a dvd that is completely menu free, then the only way I am aware is to make a One Step directly from the camcorder or from a QT movie /file on the mac's desktop like this:

In Safari menu, under preferences, under privacy, in the window appears the statement: cookies and other website data. A multitude of names appear in the info window, some with extensions, some without, some in cache, some in storage. I don't want 'em.

I don't want all those cookies being stored either in cache or storage, as reported in Safari menu under Preferences, under Privacy. I tell the system to delete them and they come right back. I want to know how to keep those things from peeking in on my traffic. Thank you.

Sorry if this comes to late, I just now came across this thread. I have rtorrent and rutorrent sunning successfully on my x64 Arch Linux install.
Try putting the "SCGIMount /RPC2 127.0.0.1:5000" line in your httpd.conf file right after the LoadModule lines (it's line 124 for me).
I seem to recall it not working when I put it at the end of the file.

Premiere Elements 10: Disc Menu when I don't want one ...?

Somehow when working on the current project, I accidentally got a Disc Menu. I don't actually want one for the first time out, this is not the final version, I just wanted an auto-play video for now. I will eventually want a menu, but ... is there a way to turn that off?

After you work with the AutoPlay option awhile, if you have any questions about it or the disc menus, please do not hesitate to ask.

I can't change ff start page. i edited options menu. i changed about:config /browser.starter.homepage but ff still opens with start page. i don't want this.

everytime i start firefox it opens on firefox start page. i don't want this. i want my own home page. i have changed it several times in 'options-general-when firefox starts...' but alas to no avail..it still starts up with the firefox start page. i have also gone to 'about:config' and changed the value of 'browser.startup.homepage' to my homepage. i restarted firefox and it worked...but just the once. the next time i opened firefox it started up once again with the firefox homepage. i have done scans, i have tried to remove the hometab with various anti virus/anti malware programms.. i have sieved through my registry..it doesn't matter what i do.. firefox starts up with it's own homepage which i do not want. please can you help?.. it's driving me nuts. i don't really want to have to reinstall firefox. thanks in advance x ps. firefox also keeps crashing on me :(

ohhh right!! i have been educating myself as i didn't understand what this user.agent.override.pref meant .. now i get it.. yes i will keep an eye on that when firefox next updates...at the moment everything is running smoothly so i'm going to leave it as it is for now. but at least now i know what it all means.. ahh you learn something new every day :-) thanks everyone x

Now that I've downloaded Firefox 4 I have a Yahoo toolbar which I don't want. I can't get rid of it and when I try to find my menu toolbar it isn't there, even when I hit ALT. I am extremly frustrated. Can anyone help, please?

I lost my Google toolbar but finally retrieved it, and cannot display my menu bar, which I need in order to print, etc.

In Firefox 4, you don't have the menu bar by default. You can view the menu bar by right click on the bar near the TAB's, you'll get a menu with choices, among the choices is "Menu bar" check that and you have your menu bar back.

Please, I don't want any suggestions from the awesome bar! Using the tools menu does not stop it...

This is a tedious solution, which is stupid! And some users report an inability to reauthorize a computer after an "en masse” deauthorization. I can’t believe Apple doesn’t provide a list or menu to find out which computers you’ve authorized! Obviously, APPLE knows (or else they couldn’t tell us how many computers we have authorized)--so why can’t they give us access to that information about our own computers??!!!
And for an already-authorized computer with a hard drive that’s since been replaced and upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite, would it be recognized as a “new computer” and require authorization? Would its previous incarnation (i.e., with the old hard drive and OS) be considered a separate computer? Some users report they can’t authorize a computer after an OS upgrade because of that. Can’t believe we have to do such a bass-ackwards kludge!

You may have an unwanted extension that is modifying sites (or the toolbar area). Try this:
Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that flush the tab?
Please report back on anything suspicious you find so others can learn about its bad behavior.

Don't Want To Use Apple Config, Device Enroll Program

I have been reading a lot on how to implement profiles onto devices like the iPhone, this functionality is what I am looking for, mainly with iPhone for some businesses and schools I work with. I have red that with the new technology you don't have to us Apple Configurator, and I have red about the Device Enroll Program... for my purposes I don't want to use any Apple method (nor would the situation I have even qualify for the Device Enroll Program) I really would like to deploy custom configuration profiles, with restrictions specified by my customers.
I have been scanning the developer guides and and slowly grasping what I need to do...it sounds like I don't need to use Apple methods if I don't want CORRECT??? If I can implement custom profiles and in some cases it might just be three iPhones... I was hoping to find the proper guidance for implementing those custom profiles, thru the webpage method or e-mail message is more suitable for my needs.
I found the Apple play by play on how to do that, but sometimes for myself finding another perspective helps me learn... Any places anyone has found that can give that play by play on how to deliver those custom profiles thru web page or e-mail?
I have looked at the Over the Air Profile Delivery and Configuration Developer Pages... I'm just looking for that alternate information source to help me out. Appreciate all the help

Using Get Info to change all documents to open with Pages 4.3 doesn't work. The Mac OS will always default to the newest installed version & has for as long as I can remember. It will work on individual files, but that could be a lot of files to reset.
This is what worked for me. After I installed the new iWork updates I created a folder on an external drive & named it "Applications." I then moved the new iWork apps to this folder & renamed the applications Keynote 6, Pages 5 & Numbers 3. I have icons for two versions of Pages & Numbers (I rarely use Keynote) in my Dock. Even with two versions of Pages & Numbers running, double-clicking an existing file opens in Pages 4.3 or Numbers 2.3. This should also keep the Mac App Store from nagging you to update.
Since the last update I've used the solution Peter Breis posted (4th post in that thread) in iWork Tips 'n' Tricks with a little "tweak."
Making Numbers '09 the default whilst keeping Pages 5
1. Move any new iWork apps in another clearly labelled folder (I created a new folder in Applications & named it iWork 13)
2. Menu > Apple > System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy > drag the above folder into the list
2) Move the new iWork folder into the trash (temporarily)
3) Select any Numbers file in Finder > Menu > Info (cmd+i) > Open with: > Pages '09 > Change all
4) Re the new iWork folder from the trash (right-click > Put back)
Pages 5 should no longer appear as a default App, and you won't have to keep a copy in a separate drive or dmg.
IMPORTANT: Make a note of where and how Pages was installed for the next App Store update and temporarily move it back there before putting it away again in the folder concealed from Spotlight.
