I don't want background music

I need to copy video recordings from my iPad/iPhone to iDVD or iMovie without having any music. I don't know where to turn off the default music. Please help. Thank you.

Create a slideshow in iDVD with the "+" button at the bottom
and place the video cliips in it. Set the slideshow volume to zero.
That will let you play the movie clips without sound regardless of what the volume on the DVD player is set to. It essentially removes the audio from the video recordings.
Do not set iDVD to Scale Photos to TV safe area in iDVD's Slideshow preference pane.
If you put more than one video clip in a slideshow do not use any transition.
If you want the multiple clips to play one after another in an iDVD slideshow select any slide duration except manual.
Also I suggest you follow this workflow in the creation of your iDVD project and disk:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

• I have 2 Apple IDs. I also have a new laptop. I have tons of music on my old laptop. I want to transfer the music from my old laptop to my new laptop, but I don't want the music actually on my new computer. Is there a way to have the music in iCloud?

I am wanting to have my music available to me, but not actually on the new laptop (like my iPhone is set up to do). I suppose I am wanting to know if I can transfer, or authorize my new laptop to have all of my music in iCloud, but not actually in iTunes on the laptop? I want it available to me, but I have over 7000 songs and I don't want to use all the room on my new laptop. Can someone please help?

• HT2688 I don't want duplicate music from my husbands account when we homeshare

My husband and I used to have an option at the bottom of itunes in home sharing where we could choose to see either all of each others music or songs we didn't have in our personal libraries. It made it so much easier because we didn't need to search through each others music for songs that each of us already had. How come this feature is no longer available? I don't want duplicate songs in my iTunes but we each have music the other wants. Does anyone know if this option is gone for good or if something is wrong with our itunes accounts?

The feature still exists, but you need to be logged in with the same Apple-ID on both computers.
So as an example:
Computer 1 logged in with Apple-ID [email protected]
Computer 2 logged in with Apple-ID [email protected]
If not, home sharing does not work

• Don't want auto music download on iPad

When I buy music from the iTunes store on my iPad, it downloads automatically. I don't want that to happen. I am quite content to leave the music in iTunes in the Cloud untiI I really want it downloaded. I do have automatic downloads turned off in iTunes & App Store settings, but the auto downloads keep happening. Is this normal? What can I do to actually keep unwanted downloads from happening?

OK, but it makes no sense to me. Given the ease of playing music directly from the cloud, it would seem that the default option would be not to download music automatically, especially when auto downloads is set to off! The way it is now, I have a lot of extra work to do to delete all the songs manually.

• Don't want kids' music on my iPhone!

I have two iMacs—#1 is just for my work and #2 is for my kids but I also have an account on it. I only sync my iPhone to #1. Somehow my iPhone has all the songs that my kids have downloaded to their own iTunes, with the little iCloud icon next to them. I can't figure out what settings I need to change in order to not have their music automatically sync to my device. Thanks.

The cloud symbols are links to music that was purchased with your iTunes ID that are not currently on your phone, allowing you to download them from the iTunes store if you ever want to. If you don't want to see these on your phone, go to Settings>Music and turn Show All Music off.

• I share an apple id with my family right now but I just got a MacBook Pro and want my own apple id. I don't want any music, etc to be lost for me or my family. How does this work?

Thanks for any help with my apple id delima.

You can set up an iCloud account which makes the iCloud email address you choose the Apple ID and thus the login for it:
https://discussions.apple.com/message/22283348#22283348
though I have to say I think it's more sensible if the ID is another address, both for security reasons (so people don't know what the login is) and as a contact address from Apple if the account were to stop working and they needed to contact you. So personally I would to to System Preferences, enter the GMail address which is an ID, and then choose a nerw @icloud.com address.
If she has her own iCloud account she will need either her own computer or her own user account on your Mac to be able to make use of it. You should note that under Apple's terms of use Apple IDs are only available to children of 13 and over.
As to purchasing apps, this is nothing to do with iCloud: it's iTunes, and the login can be different. So you can all sign into the same iTunes account but have different iCloud accounts. Or she can have her own iTunes account if she is of suitable age (credit card needed for purchasing apps).
If you have other children you should be aware that any one Mac or device can create only three iCloud accounts - this is tied to the serial number, not the user account, and once reached cannot be bypassed. You can of course sign into an iCloud account created on another device.

• I don't want my music on my iPad as it takes up too much space, but I do want it on my iPhone and iPod touch. How do it prevent it from going to iPad?

How do I get my music only on my IPhone and iPod touch, but keep it off my iPad.

If you're talking about stopping music purchased from the iTunes store automatically downloading to your iPad, go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores and under Automatic Downloads and turn Music to Off. If your talking about syncing with iTunes, just uncheck Sync Music on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings before syncing your iPad.

• Don't want Background Work Item as run as a tRFC

I have a purchase requisition approval workflow. My problem is that the purchase requisition is showing WF-BATCH as the user-id that did the release of the PR.
My workflow has a sync dialog user-decision step for the approve or reject. If the user approves the PR then it calls a background synchronous release step. I have the "Advance with dialog" check box on the background task.
When I look at the workflow log the background task starts with the dialog user-id, however it then creates a tRFC entry so the work item actually finishes under the WF-BATCH user-id.
What setting(s) do I have to change so that the background work item doesn't execute as a tRFC?
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
I presume you are using the custom workflow and not the std one.
If so, in your workflow, is the user who is approving the PR is supposed to release he PR or it is different authority who will release PR ?
If it the same authority who acts on user decision and who should release the PR, I could not get the purpose of not using the step Overall Release similar to std PR release workflow as against using the decision and background release step.
Because, in this step of std workflow, user will have to act and release the PR and then you will have his name under workflow log.
As Glauco indicated, for background steps, you will always have name of WF-BATCH.

It can and it will. You will have to sync with iTunes again but this time you will want to uncheck the radio button for Autofill and then select the playlist, albums, artists or whatever you use in iTunes and the sync again.
Connect the iPad, launch iTunes, select your iPad on the left side, click on the Music Tab on the right at the top, uncheck the Autofill button, select your music, and then click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.

• How do I get music out of "icloud" and turn it off? Didn't/don't want it.

How do I get my music out of icloud and turn it off? Didn't/don't want my music in the clouds, I want it in my ipod where I can listen to it.
Thank you.

You can go into your settings and turn icloud off. It will remove what is there. Your music is on your ipod and you should be able to listen to it. icloud stores the music to share/update your other devices - ipad, iphone etc. so you only need to make a chage on one device. The cloud changes it in all other devices.

That's the way it works. If you don't want to be bothered with calls while you're listening to music, put it in airplane mode.

• TS3297 Is it possible for itunes on my MacBook Pro to play songs off my networked WD external hard drive and sync to my iPhone? I prefer to not keep all my music on my laptop and I don't want to pay $25 a year to access my songs if I don't have to.

Is it possible for itunes on my MacBook Pro to play songs off my networked Western Drive external hard drive so I can sync to my Mac to my iPhone? I do not want to keep any music on my laptop and I don't want to pay $25 to itunes match a year to access my songs if I don't have to.

Hi turingtest2,
Thank you for replying. I've been looking at your posts about setting up iTunes using an external drive. A bit of background info. My old computer broke down, so I got a new one from work. I've always kept my music files on my external drive (I have around 170GB of music). I didn't follow the suggestions in the "migrate iTunes library" post because my old computer died on me. However, I've looked at your posts about lay out of the iTunes folders. Before connecting to iTunes on the new computer, I had reorganized my iTunes folder on my E: external drive, and created an iTunes folder which contains an iTunes Media subfolder. The music files are in a Music folder, which is in the iTunes Media folder. I've also put the following files in my iTunes folder: iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, iTunes Music Library.xml, as well as sentinel. I then followed the advice you gave bmw99 on 2 Nov 2013 at 9.58 (sorry, can't copy the exact answer).
Just to clarify: I'd like to keep all my music media on the E: external hard drive (the computer hard drive is too small), and I'm aware i might never have my playlists back, and that all the songs in my library might be ticked. However, I don't want my library to be duplicated.
I'm at work at the moment, but will be back home in about 10 hours, so I can be more specific about folders / files names.
I'm glad you picked up my message and greatly appreciate your help.
Patrice

• I need to make my own apple id because I'm older and don't want to share everything with my family but if I do, how do I get all the music and everything I bought?

I don't want to share my apple id with my family anymore but I own over 2000 songs and a few other things I bought so would I be able to get them if I got a new apple id?

You don't. Everythng downloaded with one Apple ID can not be transfered to another Apple ID. So you would need to buy it a second time. This is one of the Pit Falls of the whole Download only model.
That is why I refuse to buy things like music or movies that are tied to a specific User Name, ID.
