I don't want Firefox 7 installed. How do I turn the updater off?
I am a student at Highline Community College here in Washington. The online tool that I interface with for classes from the college is called Angel. Email on Angel does not work with Firefox 7. The IT department is working on a fix currently, but until they get that done I need to know how to turn off the automatic updater that wants to install version 7. I'll switch to the newer version when the fix is completed.
I would like to go back to my original v3 that had NO issues!
PDF's worked, eMail worked, everything worked!
But since the glorious Win Vista then Win 7 things have changed for the worse. Even Apple now has Intel Inside...
I finally found the automatic update switch and turned it OFF!
Damn menus have changed in the 'NEW' FireFox; some better others worse. But as with the 'NEW' Micro$oft products changing the menu so you can no longer use the APP seems to be the 'NEW'!

I just purchased Adobe's CS5.5 Design Premium (Student and Teacher Edition) for Mac. Upon installing Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver, an icon for Adobe's updater appeared in the Menu Bar just to the left of the Bluetooth and volumne icons.
This appears to indicate that the updater runs a check every so often in the background. I don't mind Adobe checking on the veracity of my programs (i.e. that it's a legal copy for which I paid), but my system noticeably slows down when it it running.
Two things I would like to resolve:
1 - How do I keep the updater from running in the background?
2 - Can I remove the Icon from the Menu Bar? (Admittedly not as important as #1, but I just don't like the look of it.)
Here are all the details of my machine:
MacBook Pro
OS: 10.5.8
Processor: 2.26 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

How do I turn the Dock off and on as I want? I don't mean Hide.... I mean off. It's using to much Free RAM and I need to occasionally turn it off to test RAM usage.
Try resetting the dock using Terminal in the Applications/Utility folder to see if this will solve the problem.

I've been using a trial of FCP x 10.1.4, went to buy it and it's trying to sell me 10.2 - I don't want 10.2 because I'm not running the updated OS and don't want to. I have cameras that run off of OS 10.9.5. so need to keep that OS. Is there a way I can just buy the version I used in the 30 day trial (10.1.4)? It runs fine on my current OS.
I'm on latest version of OS X, FCPX, LPX and FCPXML export ingests into LPX just fine.

iCloud is probably being used to store your Contacts so perhaps you really just want to turn off iCloud backups. Use the Settings app.
Settings > iCloud > Turn off Backup
After you turn off iCloud backup be sure to initiate some other backup strategy. Backing up to iTunes is a good alternative. -

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

I just updated to ios 7 on my iPhone 4 how do you turn the apps off when your not using them? The old way of double clicking and then pressing the app until a red minus button comes doesn't work it opens it back up!?

On the left side of the music playing screen under the scrubber bar is the shuffle control icon. It is the arrowed racetrack. Tap the icon until it is white. See chapter 4 of the users guide;

Thanks!It might be the pixel grid if your zoomed in greater than something like 500% to 700%.
Go under View>Show and uncheck Pixel Grid.
Or maybe you have a layer style set in the tool options bar for shape layers. -
