I don't want firefox to save web addresses in the adress bar drop down box and I want to delete what is there now?

On the top of the screen is the box where you type a web address. The old ones are being saved in the drop down box accessed by clicking on the little arrow on the right. How do I delete the existing addresses retained there and tell it to never save addresses at any time.

  • When I type a web address into the main bar, it takes me to search results rather than to the website as in Firefox 3. What can I do here?

As stated above, when I would enter a web address in the main bar at the top of Firefox, the browser would go directly to that website (e.g., nytimes, or pcmag, etc...).
Now it goes to a search results page, where I have to click on NY Times, or PC Mag, to get to the website. It is a two-step process instead of one!

hello, enter '''about:config''' into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''browser.urlbar.trimURLs'''. double-click it and change its value to '''false''' in order to display the full url with the http://-prefix in the address bar...

  • I would like to create a web that gives users choices from drop down menu and it then calculates the results back to them and copy to me

Hello I am a wedding planner and have decided to create new website.   I would like to have the user make choices of different items and have it calculate so that they can print it off.  Like an estimate of what costs would be to plan a wedding .  I will be giving them different selections to choose from  in drop down or radio selections .
I was thinking much like a shopping cart but that seems too involved is there a simpler way.   Thank you for any help.

Just based on your question I can tell that you're probably not experienced enough to develop something like a shopping cart. Hiring a web developer is the way to go, as previously said.

  • Hi I am typing a web address into the navagation bar and nothing is happening any suggestions

I can click on a bookmark and I can navigate to a website, however when I type in an address nothing happens. This just started. Please help!

Hi cowtan, <br/>Sorry you are having problems with the awesome bar.
I imagine the new behaviour may be reversed by changing some pref but I have not looked that up.
Regardless of the new behaviour you seem to have some fault as my awesomebar still gives bookmarked items.
As a troubleshooting step try adding an asterisk in the awesomebar (as first character or anywhere) that should then filter the results in the dropdown list to bookmarked only items, does that work ?
    * see [[Search your bookmarks, history and tabs with the Awesome Bar#w_changing-results-on-the-fly]]_changing-results-on-the-fly
You possibly have some extension interfering with the awesome bar, try Firefox in safe mode (but do NOT* at this stage try the Reset Firefox option)
<nowiki>*</nowiki>'''edit''' - personal opinion, if a user; such as you; is knowledgeable enough to use ''about.config'' the easy solution of ''FirefoxReset ''is probably not the best route, as it can have unwanted side effects that are avoidable.

Do your bookmarked items appear in safe mode ?
<u>Try a new Profile.</u><br/>The best method for troubleshooting this will be to set up a new Firefox profile, you can then: experiment, troubleshoot, alter settings or extensions installed in that profile without changing and potentially damaging your current profile.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager#Creating_a_new_profile
I suggest to prevent unexpected problems you
    * use a sensible name such as test 2012 for the profile name
    * ensure an empty folder is used & do not then rename or delete the new profile (instead add or delete shortcuts to it)

  • Website logos are not appearing to the left of the web address in the URL bar of my colleagues Firefox but they do appear on mine?

Is it possible to turn this off and on? At the side of the address, where I get an icon for the web site we are looking at, she just sees a blank page

You can also check the settings of the browser.chrome.* prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.

  • I got a new computer and I don't know how to bring up the previous library.    I don't want to delete what is now on my iPhone 3.

I got a new computer a while ago and tried to sync my iPhone 3.  I thought my library was housed at iTunes, but when I sync, it does not sync the previous library.  I can see my apps, but they are "grayed" out and I cannot maneuver them on my computer.  When I click to sync the apps currently on my iPhone, I get a message saying that by doing so will erase what is on the phone and replace it with what is in the library.  Please help!

You need to copy everything from the old computer or your backup copy of your old computer to the new one.
The iphone will sync itunes content and pics with one and only one computer at a time.  If you sync to another, then it will erase the current content from the iphone and replace with content from the new computer.
The music sync is one - way -computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
If you sync contacts and calendars to a blank computer, then they will be erased as well.
Copy everything from the old computer.

  • Why Firefox 4 can not plug in the NoDoFollow from SEO Rapid Profit Formula It said Not Compatible, what to do now ?

I am installing new program of Rapid Profit Formula called the SEO Quake but Firefox rejected it because it is not compatible with Firefox 4 (I have installed Firefox 4 currently). how to continue installed the "NoDoFollow" from Rapid Profit Formula ?

The author has not yet updated NoDoFollow, and I do not see any note here about when it might be updated:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nodofollow/
If you trust '''unofficial''' versions, you can get an updated version from this blog. I don't think anyone has verified it, but you can read comments to see whether you trust it:
    '''unofficial''': http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/03/22/download-nodofollow-1-3-add-on-for-firefox-4/
I also saw a recommendation on a different site to use a Greasemonkey userscript instead. If you have the Greasemonkey add-on, you can install the script here:
    http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/26418
    I haven't tried it myself.

  • How do I delete web site addresses that appear in the navigation window drop-down menu?

In Explorer you can quickly delete any web address in the navigation window drop-down list. Also, only addresses that I actually type into the navigation window appear in the drop-down. I like this system.
But in Firefox, I cannot discern the rules at work. Web addresses appear and disappear in the drop-down list seemingly at random, and no way to delete addresses.

Selecting "Never Remember History" will make you enter [[Private Browsing]] mode, so be careful with selecting that.

    Sudhakar

    hi,
    try
    - drag dropdown box web item to your web template
    - do setting for properties for the dropdown box in 'specific' section
characteristic/structure : your characteristic to filter
    read mode : posted values
take a look 'affected data providers', make sure data provider you want controlled by the dropdown box marked.

  • I want to delete all browser history in URL drop down box, I can't seem to remove them

When I type a web address in the main url box, a drop down appears as I type each letter. Many of these sites are old or I want them deleted. I've deleted all other histories but these seem to have a determination to stay! How do I delete them?

    See:
    * [[Clearing Location bar history]]
    * [[Cannot clear Location bar history]]
Entries in the location bar drop down list with a yellow (blue on Mac) star at the right end are bookmarks.<br />
You can remove such a bookmarked item that shows in the list if you open that url in a tab and click the yellow star in the location bar.<br />
This will open the Edit This Bookmark dialog and you can click the Remove button to remove the bookmark if you want to remove such a bookmarked entry.<br />

  • Same web address autopopulates in location bar regardless of history, bookmarks.

When I type the first "w" of a web address in the location bar, a web address autopopulates that is not in the pull down list, browsing history or bookmarks. The same address populates every time and only with one "w" of the first "www" of the address. I have tried clearing all history and cookies, resetting Firefox and reinstalling but the problem persists. The only way I have found to stop it is to set the privacy preferences for location bar suggestions to suggest Nothing, but that eliminates a feature I find useful. The only thing I haven't tried is deleting my Firefox profile. I am using a Mac running OS 10.8.4.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • My Firefox drop down box located in the upper left hand corner is no longer there. How do I get it back

The only thing that appears above is the URL and the tabs that have been open. I have no other bars across the top of the screen. I especially need the Firefox Box in the left hand corner which includes commands to print, commands to bookmark a page, commands to clear History.

    Hi,
Enabling / disabling the '''Menu Bar''' via '''View''' ('''Alt '''+ '''V''') > '''Toolbars''' alternates between the Firefox drop down box and the menu bar. To temporarily view the menu bar after the Firefox drop down box is activated, press '''Alt''' or '''F10'''.

  • In FF4, how do I change the orange color of the drop down box that says 'firefox'?

  • Do you want Firefox to save your tabs for the next time it starts?

FF 27.0.1 on Linux Mint 16 XFCE, up to date.
I have my Preferences set to 'Show my home page'.
Every time I close FF with the X in the top left corner, it comes up and asks me "Do you want Firefox to save your tabs for the next time it starts?". I check the box not to be asked next time, and have tried both Save and Quit, and just Quit. When I open the browser again it seems to randomly decide whether to open all the tabs I had last time, or sometimes (rarely) just my home page tabs.
I don't want it to open all the tabs I had open, and I don't want the question every time I quit FF. I've used FF for years with XP, but I am new to Mint.

  • How do I turn-off that annoying drop-down box with the gold key that asks me if I want Firefox to save the password?

You know what drop-down box I'm talking about. When I sign-in to an existing account, that box drops down, covering links I want to click on, asking me AGAIN if I want to save the password for 'this' [whatever site I'm on] site. NO, I DON'T! If I wanted to save the darn password, I would have clicked 'yes' about 1,000 sign-ins ago! Stop already with the asking me.! This 'gold key' feature just doesn't get it. It is a huge nusiance. Why isn't there a box to click that says "DON'T ASK ME AGAIN"?

Do not use Clear Recent History to clear the "Site Preferences".
