I don't want images resized

Why does Safari resize images (jpegs) when I change the text size? it's been like this for years, but I remember when it wasn't. I am a photographer and I painstakingly prepare my images for web presentation. They are sharpened properly for the size I save them. If I'm viewing an image that is 500 x 700 pixels, it should always show up at that size regardless of the text. When I view photographs within Safari, and I need to change the text size, I do not want the image size to change. How do I do that?

Hi Jeffrey,
From your Safari menu bar click View / Zoom Text Only.
Then press Command + or - to change text size.

I gotta wonder, what exactly are you recording that you don't want [anyone else] to see while you're recording?

  • Please Help!  I don't want images to "stick" to the outside of CS3!  I want them to float!

I have CS3 and I like having my images float without "sticking" to anything over the whole screen.  As it is now, they like to grab onto the edge of the application when I move them outside its boundaries.  I did this all the time in CS2 and I like it a lot.  This new thing is very annoying and I want desperately to TURN IT OFF.  Please!  I am asking could someone please tell me how to turn the image stickiness to the edge of the app OFF?  Thanks so much in advance!
Nothing I've tried thus far has worked and I've lost three days trying to figure it out.  Why is this not a clickable option to turn off in preferences???

    You can't.
The Mail.app displays all image/photo and single page PDF attachments inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default - sending and receiving.
You can control-click on a viewed in place attachment and select View as Icon but the icon for the attached file will remain in the body of the message. Regardless, depending on the recipient's email client and available preference settings, such attachments may appear inline or viewed in place when the message is opened by the recipient (as with the Mail.app when receiving such attachments) or as attached files only which must be opened separately to be viewed for which the sender has no control over.
This was a minor adjustment for me at first but I now prefer such attachments being displayed inline since I have confirmation that I selected the correct file or file names as attachments before the message is sent.

  • I have linked images that I want to resize horz & vert to (96.6% x 97.8%)

I have linked images that I want to resize horz & vert to (96.6% x 97.8%) and then center within the frame.
I'd like to have an applescript to do them all, so I don't have to manually do them each, each time.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • How do I resize a pic? I don't want to crop it, just make it smaller.

How do I resize a pic? I don't want to crop it, just make it smaller.

    Why?
There is a reason to ask.  Aperture gives you superb tools dedicated to two things: storing and organizing your digital photographs, and converting (from RAW) and developing them into the best possible photographs.  It featuress a _lossless_ workflow:  your digital photographs are never altered.  In general, your workflow is:
    . shoot
    . import
    . add metadata and organize
    . develop
    . export.
"Export" means "Make me a sharable image-format file according to these specifications".  You select a size when you export.  For almost all uses, it does not make sense to resize before exporting.
When you export you can specify any size you want.  This and other specifics are set in the "Export Preset" you use.  You can view and edit your Export Presets at "Aperture→Presets→Image Export".

in iPhoto how do I stop files from auto resizing as they import? I don't want my files reduced to 72. The option to choose size on the export menu not suitable for up sizing, as you can't restore the quality removed.

Short answer: They are not resizing, there is no quality lost. The dpi is only set when you decide what size you're printing at
Longer answer:  Dpi means nothing in the digital world of your computer. There are no "inches" to have "dots per..." Size is measured in pixels. That's the same on your camera. It doesn't take 10 x 8 or 6 x 4 shots. It takes shots measured in megapixels. For instance 4,000 x 3,000 is a 12 megapixel camera.
Using that example, that shot from that camera has 12 million pixels. So that's how many "Dots" there are. To decide the ratio of dots per inch, you now need to decide the "inches" part. And that's printing. Print at 10 x 8 and the dpi will be 4,000/10 or about 400 dpi. At 6 x 4 then it's 4,000/6 or 660 dpi. Work the other way: Print at 300 dpi and the resulting image will be about 13 inches on the longer side.
So, your photo as a fixed number of pixels. Changing the dimensions of the print will vary the dpi, changing the dpi will vary the dimensions of the print.

When I try to open an image by double clicking on it in Bridge, I get a message telling me to log in to Creative Cloud.  I am running CS6, and the default should be to open files in Photoshop 6 or in Adobe Raw (if it's a Raw file).  I don't want to log into CC since I am not a subscriber, and this means that I have to work around, and go  back to Bridge, and tell it to open the file in Adobe RAW.  However, this does not work for older psd files which for some reason cannot be opened in RAW.  How do I return to the process of simply allowing RAW files to open automatically in Adobe RAW, and simply right clicking on the image in Bridge to bring up the option of opening it in Photoshop?

  • Can Aperture trash the image files (in the finder) that I don't want?

    Hi All,
Long time iView Media Pro user here and fairly new to Aperture.
One of the things that I like about iView (and I can't seem to figure out in Aperture) is that I can trash an original file that I do not want to keep from within the app.
iView actually moves the image file to the trash. This allows you to import all of the images, review them, and trash the ones you don't want to keep.
It appears that Aperture only trashes the Master (and versions) that it creates in the library and does not physically trash the original files.
Is there something I am missing here?

I think the thing that you are missing is that after import, you should delete your master files in Finder and just leave the ones in the Aperture library. Then when you remove them they are really gone. You can always use the "Export Master" command to get thme out again (untouched) or simply go into the Aperture library and do a find for all images to see them and move them elsewhere (if for some reason you cannot run Aperture).
One possible flow to make this esier is to always have Aperture import files from CF/SD cards, then format them after import (well, after import and then backup...)

  • Don't want edited images showing up in same folder as RAW images

As I go through my catalog of RAW images, I'll select an image (or more if I'm doing a pany/stacked), then use the "Edit in CS5" command.  After I edit the photo and save in a new/different folder (usually as a .jpeg), the saved image will then show up in my RAW catalog, too.
I don't want this.  I have made a catalog for RAW images, and it gets confusing when images show up in a catalog where I only expect RAW images.  How do I stop edited images showing up in a catalog not intended for them?
    Thank-you.

I don't think you can do that. External Edit in LR is designed so that the result represents one further stage in the processing of your photo, so it will automatically added to your catalog, and stacked with the original, if you chose so.
For what you are looking for, try using export with a Postprocessing option of "Open in Photoshop". This will not add the result to your catalog, unless you've marked "Add to This catalog".

  • My iMac 27'', which I bought two Months ago, has ghost images on it's screen. Apple don't want to replace it. What can I do now?

    Hey!
Two months ago I bought the new, thin iMac 27'' with Fusion Drive.
Well, one week ago I recognized that I have ghost images on my screen.
Apple don't want to replace it. They want that I drive to the next 200km away
Apple Store (with this huge iMac) to show an Apple Employee the production error.
The problem is that it is an iMac with special features and I need to wait 5-6  business days.
After that I need to go back to this Apple Store (they won't send it) to bring it home.
AND: THEY DONT WANT TO OFFER AN REPLACEMENT DEVICE!!
I need this mac for working!!! I use it for my business and I have not the time for it!
Is there a solution for this problem? Has anyone of you a similar problem?
I mean: this is not accomodating!! Other companys have a better support for this case!!
Thank you very, very much in advance!!!!!!!
    Sincerey Yours

  • Why won't Photoshop revert to earlier history state after image resize when scripted?

I've written an Applescript to automate watermarking and resizing images for my company. Everything generally works fine — the script saves the initial history state to a variable, resizes the image, adds the appropriate watermark, saves off a jpeg, then reverts to the initial history state for another resize and watermark loop.
The problem is when I try not to use a watermark and only resize by setting the variable `wmColor` to `"None"` or `"None for all"`. It seems that after resizing and saving off a jpeg, Photoshop doesn't like it when I try to revert to the initial history state. This is super annoying, since clearly a resize should count as a history step, and I don't want to rewrite the script to implement multiple open/close operations on the original file. Does anyone know what might be going on? This is the line that's generating the problem (it's in both the doBig and doSmall methods, and throws an error every time I ask it just to do an image resize and change current history state):

As many others here I use JavaScript so I can’t really help you with your problem.
But I’d like to point to »the lazy person’s out« – with many operations that result in creating a new file on disk I simply duplicate the image (and flatten in the same step) to minimize any chance of damaging the original file if the Script should not perform as expected.

  • PSE newbie frustrated, please help with image resizing

    Hi!
Tutorials aren't helping me, nor is trial and error. I just want to resize some photos I downloaded to my computer, then upload them to a website to use as my avatar or signature. There are specific pixel dimensions I must adhere to. I want to keep the photo in it's entirety, but when I resize it, it distorts a bit, looks fuzzy...
I can't figure out what the heck I am doing wrong. Some pictures turn out just fine and others look really bad. I know it can be done because I've seen the same pictures I'm trying to size, being used for the same thing I want to use them for, but theirs are clear, absolutely no distortion whatsoever. The pixel dimensions I have to work with are either 100x100, or 450 pixels wide by 90 pixels high.
I hope this made sense, I'm not sure how else to word it. Please forgive my ignorance, I've really been trying.
    Thank-you

For an avatar it’s possibly best to crop to begin with so you get a true square.
Open the image and select the crop tool and change the aspect ratio to 1 x 1 or 5 x 5 then drag out a square and move the image around inside it or drag the bounding box borders until you have it looking as you want. Then click the green check mark.
On the top menu click Image > Resize > Image Size and in either the height or width box type 100 px (you only need to type the dimension once the other box will change to 100 automatically. Make sure you have the bottom three boxes checked:
    Scale Styles
    Constrain Proportions
    Resample Image
With all three checked set the bottom dropdown to Bicubic and then hit OK.
If you want to apply some sharpening select Enhance on the top menu and choose Unsharp Mask.
Make sure the Radius is no more than 1.5 and use the amount slider to get the image looking as you want it then save.
