I don't want iTunes +

I was buying music and noticed something pop up asking me to check out iTunes Plus. I went ahead just to see what it was but then saw that songs would no longer be 99cents but $1.29. I would rather just buy the cheaper songs. But now songs only show up at $1.29 and I have no idea how to set the store so that my songs show up at 99cents again. I basically can't buy these songs that I wantd to buy now until I can return them to the normal price.

I fixed it.

  • Don't want iTunes to download Album Artwork

    Hi all,
Since I add all the album-artwork by hand (and include it in the mp3-file) I don't want iTunes to download the artwork automatically.
So I think i made all the neccessary settings
(unchecked the 'Automatically download missing album artwork' option in the 'preferences/Store' tab)
    , and cleaned the 'iTunes/Album Artwork/Cache/' and 'iTunes/Album Artwork/Download/' folder.
But today I noticed that after start of iTunes, there already/again where folders/files in the 'download' folder, these takes unnecessary disk-space etc, so how can i prevent/enable this?
    grts, Peter
(ps, i don't download music from itunes, I rip my own cd's, put them in a separate folder and add these folders to Itunes library, so

I have just the same question. I don't want iTunes to store that album artwork, it takes that disk space for nothing, I don't mind if iTunes would have to analyze that data every time I open it

  • I don't want ITunes and Safari!!!

I tried out ITunes and didn't like it. I do need Quicktime for certain applications and is pretty much a necessity otherwise I would dump it because of the way Apple is trying to force their products down my throat.
Every Apple update now bundles Quicktime and Itunes together so I can't get the security updates without having to go back and uninstall Itunes all over again and tries to push Safari on me. Is there any way to disable the default download of Safari and Itunes in the Apple Update utility?

You could uninstall ASU, and go to the following page to pick up the standalone QT installers when a new version comes out:
Latest Quicktime Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention iTunes
At the moment, if you want to keep ASU installed, there's no way that I'm aware of to stop the new updates/applications from showing up in ASU.
Not quite the same thing, but you can make them go away once they've shown up in ASU.
    Launch ASU for Windows.
Highlight the updates/applications that you don't want to see again.
Go "Tools > Ignore Selected Updates".
If you want the functionality in ASU to "Never show an update of this type", it might be worth submitting a feature request to Apple using the product feedback forms. ASU doesn't have its own feedback form, but since you go it with QuickTime, the QuickTime feedback form seems appropriate enough:
    QuickTime Feedback
Just in case it comes in handy, here's a link to a page where all the Apple feedback forms are located:

  • I don't want iTunes to launch when I connect iPhone.  How do I stop this?

There's a way to rename a file somewhere to prevent either iTunes or iPhoto from launching and mounting iPhone when it is connected. I read about this when I was having a problem one time. I have searched "disable automount itunes" (and other variations) and now I can't find it. Can anybody point me to the thread about this?
I like iPhoto to launch and mount, but I only use iTunes to upgrade the iOS. I would like iPhoto to automount and iTunes to be voluntary (i.e., clicking on the iTunes dock icon, etc.) I don't want to have to unmount iPhone from iTunes and close iTunes every time I simply want to download photos.
    Thank you.

With a Mac, you need to remove the iTunes Helper from the login items for your computer's login account.
System Preferences > Accounts. Select your login account. Under the Login Items tab for your computer login account, select iTunes Helper followed by selecting the - sign to remove iTunes Helper from your login items.
There is also a way to prevent iPhoto from launching automatically when your iPhone or any digital camera is connected. iPhoto will launch automatically when your iPhone is connected when it includes photos and/or video in your iPhone's Camera Roll only.

  • Someone tell Apple Software Update that I don't want itunes!!

Is anyone else really annoyed by the apple software update perpetually asking if you want to download itunes?
I have quicktime installed in order to view quicktime movies, and never had any interest in itunes whatsoever. The apple-centric behavior of the Apple Software Update is really annoying! When did i express any interest in itunes to begin with? How does downloading quicktime then give apple the permission to constantly harass me about their other software?? Where was the box to tick to express my disinterst in itunes?Any thoughts?

...And how is this different from Windows Update being Windows-centric? I know when I update on XP, I get listings on updates for everything form the newest Media Player to Outlook. If you don't want the update, then don't select it (or like said above, ignore it).
I'm not trying to flame, but this is a bit trivial. At least now there is a central way of doing Apple Updates, unlike the old days when you had to monitor the Apple website.
So leave the gun, and take the cannoli. It's all good.

  • Want to use iPod as a disk, but don't want iTunes to start

    Hi,
I am a college student, and I am home for the semester break. I have some files that I am wanting to transfer to my 30GB iPod from our home computer before I go back to school; but when I plug it, in iTunes always starts. My sister has an iTunes library for her Nano on our home computer, and I don't want to mess anything of her's up. Is there any way that I can set iTunes so it doesn't automatically start when I connect my iPod? Any help would be great.
    Thanks,
    Nate

I'm afraid you can't change the setting without connecting the iPod since it's in one of the iPod preference tabs. Your iPod is safe as long as it is set to update manually, if it's not then you can use a key combination on your keyboard to prevent it syncing so that you can change the setting. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • Don't want itunes plus

I installed the latest version of iTunes and when I wanted to add a song to my shopping cart, it asked me if I wanted iTunes Plus. I said I did, but realized that each song cost $1.29 instead of $0.99 with iTunes Plus, and I do not want to pay extra for the song. Now when I search for the song it comes up as iTunes Plus and I can't change it back to regular iTunes. Anyone know how? Thanks

Uh, what if that button is nonexistent whenever I (correctly) look for it? I'm tired of "Download iTunes Plus!!!!!" every time I unsuccesfully attempt to download a song. I'm contemplating taking Steve Jobs hostage.

  • I don't want itunes to backup my iphone all the time

Everytime I plug my iphone into itunes I am only want to say add 4-5 songs or maybe an ebook that I have, the system always wants to backup what i have on the iphone, I seriously just want to remove this option and only sync what I want to sync. I don't need to backup.  Plus the back up seems to be about 6-7 Gigs which is a waste of space on my limited laptop.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

    Hope this can help.
First off,  if you prefer to no back up your iphone  to your computer I would suggest backing it up to icloud. you can do this by next time you plug in your iphone in itunes,
go to your device on the sidebar -->summary(its at the top) --> then on the summary page go to Backups and select "iCloud" ... or at least make sure the option  that says "This Computer" [A full backup of this iphone will be stores on your computer ] is unchecked.
Doing this, it will stop making backups on your computer and make your backups to apple servers
Next just as Powerbook 1818 said you could go to  Itunes-> Preferences -> Devices -> and  then check the option that says " Prevent ipods, iphones, and ipads from syncing automatically
This will prevent from itunes from automatically syncying your device right away when plugging it in.
Lastly, plug your iphone into itunes,
go to devices -> your iphone -> summary -> scroll down and find the options ( its the box right under the Backup box from earlier in this post)
Then what i recommend is that you have  the following UNchecked
    - "Automatically sync when iphone is connected"
    - Sync with this iphone over wifi"
-Sync only checked songs and videos( I dont think you have to do this, but I have it checked for myself
    Then check:
    -Mannually manage music and videos
From what I understand this will prevent it from sync and backing up to your computer, when I first plugged in my iphone it sync some other things (browsing data and a few other small things) but it didnt take anything longer than about 10 seconds max
    I hope this helps!
    Nic

  • Help - I DON'T want iTunes to run on all XP profiles

I couldn't find this topic addressed before, so here goes:
I've set up 2 profiles on XP and I'd like one of them to be as bare-bones as possible. Is there any way to disable iTunes on one of my profiles? I can't find any place in the Preferences section to do this and XP doesn't seem to be any help either.
    Any ideas would be welcome!

If you want all remnants of itunes gone in the one profile, that is going to take some time for research and registry editing.
As a start, you could move itunes out of this All Users folder and put it into just the user folder that you want to have itunes.

  • Don't want iTunes renaming TV shows

    Hello,
I have a couple questions, hoping one of them is possible.  My issue is the naming convention iTunes uses when you add a TV show to the "automatically add to iTunes" folder.  If the file name is something like "Seinfeld  01 x 01 - Pilot"... iTunes strips the name of the Show and season and the file ends up like "01 Pilot"  My goal is to maintain the original file name.  So with that being said is it possible for one of the following in iTunes:
    1.  Can you set the "automatically add to iTunes" folder to different styles?
    2.  If i chose not to use this folder and just copy the show over...can iTunes scan the library for new content?  I believe you can drag and drop directly into iTunes, but that is not my intention.  I would like to automate this whole process.  After the show is ripped from the DVD i push to the auto folder of a different folder and have iTunes scan for new content.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    1) No
    2) No, the only way iTunes knows of something is new is if it gets actively added via some action in the iTunes application itself or via the Automatically folder.
If you have iTunes set to organize your media it does that how it wants to.  You are not supposed to even look at the files themselves.
Your option is to turn off organize media.  It's now completely up to you so I hop you're methodical, and some other things won't work such as iTunes attempting to repair broken links.

  • Don't want Itunes to automatically update my IPOD

I have had a problem with my computer recently and have had to restore it to the factory setting. As a result I have had to delete ITUNES and all of my songs. Although I can reinstall Itunes when my computer comes back from the manufacturer I will not be able to reinstall all of my songs as I had too many to back up.
I am worried that when I reconnect my IPOD to the computer it will automatically update before I have a chance to turn the option off which will mean I lose all my songs - which are not backed up! Any advice on how to turn off the option before the automatic update starts!
    thanks in advance
    Catherine

When you first plug in an iPod, it will ask you if you want to auto update or manual.
Just ensure that you COMPLETELY uninstall, then re-install iTunes first.

  • I'm trying to find an easier way to import my music to iTunes. Even the most basic music player can scan your computer and import found music into your library. I don't want to move my MP3s into the iTunes folder, I don't want iTunes doing any conversion.

I'm trying to find an easy way to import my MP3 collection into iTunes without moving, copying or changing it.
I can't believe that iTunes doesn't have this feature, as even the most basic music players always have this.
I only use iTunes to sync my iPod, as I like Media Monkey to play my MP3s.
I have 137GB of MP3s, mainly from my ripping my CDs, LPs and downloading from Amazon. I've only purchased a handful of songs from iTunes,
Any ideas on how to do this easily?

It does have that feature. Why would you assume that it doesn't?

    Okay, no problem.
If the top bar menu is not displayed in top left of your iTunes Library, use the CTRL+B keys to turn it on:
On that menu, use File/Add Folder to Library and navigate to the folder you wish to add:
If you wish to add just one song, notice the File/Add File to Library command on that menu as well.
Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop from the file's location into your iTunes Library.
That's all there is to it.
By the way, it is possible to have Amazon MP3s downloaded to your computer and then automatically added to the iTunes Library by the Amazon downloader. I do it all the time.

  • I don't want iTunes 7

Do I have to install iTunes 7 or is there a way around it?
    Tim

I'd have to agree. There is nothing in this version that is serving me better that I can see. It used to take about an hour and a half to download a show. Now I'm lucky if it downloads in 18 hours.
The store itself is now incredibly slow to load as well, it makes browsing very irritating. With all of the previous versions I enjoyed it.
My brother and his wife and my neighbor are having the same problems with this version.
We never had these problems until this version.
I have been a regular customer of iTunes and I can honestly say, if this was the version I first encountered I never would have given it a second try. I think it really stinks. I can't quite believe it was released without more testing. And if it was tested released with an awareness of these problems, weren't they worried about customer retention.
I'm just about finished myself with it.

  • HT2490 Don't want itunes to load automatically!

I have Version 10.6.8. When I start the computer itunes loads automatically. I can't seem to find the place to stop this. does anyone know how I can stop this?

Is iTunes on your dock?  If yes, right or control click on the icon and select Options and uncheck Open at Login.
If that doesn't work, check System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items and remove iTunes if it is there. Select iTunes and click the [-] button.  You may need to unlock the pane first? (Click on the lock icon)
