Dad-gummit! I am so sick of deleting Adobe Reader Speed Loader from my registry! I don't give a flying *@^$& if it makes it quicker to start. I don't need more cr@% running on my system when I may not open a PDF for weeks on end.
ADOBE! HEY! LISTEN UP! Give me the option to 'choose' if I want it to start or not. I'm still running XP Professional, which only sees 3GB of my 4GB RAM. And every freaking application which I install, thinks they know better than me if they should run in the background when I'm not using them. I DO NOT WANT IT. Got that?!?!

So first I'd say that it's not a good idea to start a new apple id if you have a large purchase history. You may not transfer purchases between apple IDs. You should consider some other options listed here http://support.apple.com/kb/HE37 Primarily the option where you or your children have seperate icloud accounts/email accounts that sync their contacts apart from yours. You may use your apple ID for purchases and use a different one for icloud/email/etc.

To help prevent the last backup from being overwritten and thus erasing the Messages from the last backup turn off autosyncing so that you have to overtly start a sync. To turn off go iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says "Prevent iPods...".

If I wiped my phone I wouldn't have the contacts on my phone to send to my self. I would need to take just the contacts from my back up. I would have to do this through iTunes and I don't see how I can just extract the contacts only from my back up. From what I can figure out it is all or nothing

The progress for some games will transfer since some games synce progress to a cental server. For other games you will have to have the backup of the old iPod.
You can restore from backup or access the backup. See:

If you have acces to the old iPod yu can make a backup by connecting the iPod to the computer and right click on the iPOd under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up. Then restore from that backup.

Made a 2 minute edit on Final Cut Express but at the 30 seconds (after I exported), there's a clip showing up that is not in my project, a clip i don't want in there, a glitch, how can I correct this problem? I don't want to start over again :(

Basically, I have 2 problems:
1) When I export it shows this clip that's not in my normal project and it ruins my project by having this clip in there; it's like a glitch. I tried to change the clip, and and still doesn't make the project normal again. Tried a new sequence and dragging the project into HD Mode and to no avail.
My camera:
HD: 1080p
Settings: At Hd

Also, it's only displaying black bars above my project, even after exporting at 720p. I just don't want this random clip in my project or the black bars. I'm using Final Cut Express. Does anyone have any possible idea what this could be? Any help woud be much appreciated! I'm clueless on this.

1) Is it a video clip? Something you recognize? To be clear, it's displaying at a point in your exported movie but doesn't appear at all in the sequence?
2) What are your sequence settings? Right-click your sequence and choose "Item Properties" to verify.

Don't Want Menu @ Start - How To Delete?

I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum...my iDVD is 7.0.4.
Anyway, I'm trying to get a movie ready to burn onto DVD. I don't want any kind of theme or menu at the beginning. I have tried several times to delete the menu and can't. I have also looked up how to get rid of the menu on apple.com in the iDVD tutorials. That says to set the DVD for autoplay and loop the movie. I did this, but when it's rendering, I can see in the little preview box that it's adding on the default menu at the beginning. Any ideas on how to simply burn the movie I created in iMovie without all the extra themes and menus?

True. This is the best way to make a no theme dvd that is virtually invisible to the end user / when the dvd is first inserted into most set top dvd players. However one can still see a menu if the menu function/key on the remote control were to be selected. Keep in mind themes and menus do add playback stability (especially upon initial playback / when the dvd is first inserted into the dvd player).
If you truly wish to make a dvd that is completely menu free, then the only way I am aware is to make a One Step directly from the camcorder or from a QT movie /file on the mac's desktop like this:

You may have more than one device using your Apple account (as I did).
Some of my messages ended up on an idle iPad I had left at home.
Most, however, just stopped sending.
Various work arounds have been posted here and there.
It appears that a text message preference gets messed up.
The simplest work around that usually works (but not always, for me), is to turn off messages, reboot your devices, and then turn it back on. I also tried another suggestion to toggle off the iCloud settings and reboot. Both had the same effect. It worked for a day or two and then I had to do it again.
You may want to enable MMS and SMS texting, which usually work, even when iMessages won't.
iMessages have a blue background. MMS have a green background and you're service provider may charge you for MMS or SMS texts.

Don't want Album Starter as default to display pics

Talk about the evil empire - I thought Microsoft was bad about hijacking your machine! I was recently forced to upgrade Acrobat Reader and it evidently installed Acrobat Album Starter and set it up as the default program to display pictures from my digital camera. Frankly, Explorer does a better job of displaying them. I first tried disabling it, then tried exiting it. But, Adobe Photoshop Album Starter still "controls" my pictures when I click on them. I hate the fact that when clicking on the "+" to zoom in I have no ability for it to automatically zoom in on the point I want to zoom in on. So, not only is the program a junk for what I need, it has taken over my computer through no fault of my own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Double click on My Documents - on the desktop... then

Folder Options
File Types
now change the file type to match the s/w... I had this same problem - 3Starter Edition took over as my jpg editor -
don't you just hate when these software companies want to take over what you are used to!!! I would like to find out how to get that darned Launch icon out of my "running applications" don't know the name of that bar - but Adobe puts it in as a launcher - takes up other resources, I'm sure!!

IMac don't want to start after download and installing software update.

I did a firmaware update last night and let it do it's thing(download and install) after 30 mins, my imac is still blank. I tried to start it by pressing the power button but nothing happened. I don't hear the chime sound, only thing i can hear is the CD drive being initialize and the fan being turned on. This goes on a loop and do nothing. I tried to put the restoration CD that came into the package but that did not help at all instead the CD got stock on the drive. Anybody experience this problem before, please advice.

When you put the restore disk in, how did you restart? Did you power up while holding the "c" key? That should bring the iMac up on the restore disk.
If the iMac is not shutting down, are you pressing the power button or holding the power button in until the unit shuts down? Just pressing the button won't shut it down...you have to hold it in.

I can't reset the password to my security questions since I don't have an rescue email. And I don't want to start a new account because I just put a $25 iTunes card on it. Is there any way I can do a rescue email without having to call.

I don't think I would have time to sit down and actually talk on the phone to do this that is why I would like to do it over email.

I don't want to start a discussion I just want to install...

I am sooooooo p****d off with Adobe. They have forced me to type my problem into a form three times and each time I press submit it disappears and I have to join/sign into/whatever their 'community'.
My problem is that trying to install Flash/Reader when told to by installer it says I have to shut down Safari. I do so and it continues to tell me to do this. I shut down and reopen without touching Safari, it still says this. It has done this is the last four OSx iterations without fail. Why is Adobe intent on wasting my time so much, I am a very busy girl and don't have time for them to mess me about like this.

I mean... i can export my files from Mac OSX Cubase as wave files and open them with WaveLab on BootCamp WinXP, right ?!
There should be no problem neither using other resources of the iMac for Mastering or Burning my Mastered CD on BootCamp WinXP, right ?
A friend adviced me to use "Parallels" (www.parallels.com), since then you don't have to boot to XP and then back to OSX in case of changes to my multitrack Mix and then importing it to WaveLab, etc. That could be kind of annoying.

Whenever I reboot two programs I don't want automatically start

My Mac desktop freezes up and the only solution is to reboot. When I reboot, Excel and Mail show up automatically on the screen. Any ideas to stop this?

It could also be part of Mountain Lion's (and Lion's) Resume feature. Any application that is open at shutdown/restart will automatically re-open unless you deselect 'Reopen windows when loggin back in', as shown in the image below:
