I DON'T WANT SKYPE FULL SCREEN

How do I get it off full screen!?

I'm very disappointed -- this solution is no longer viable. I just received an e-mail from Skype (pasted below) saying that the desktop version isn't going to work anymore starting next week. I use Skype for work and often have to keep Word and Excel documents open at the same time; I downloaded the desktop version because I'm not able to do that with the silly Windows 8 app that opens full screen. I know it's not Skype's fault that Windows 8 is so horrible, but they don't need to take away the solution to the problem by deactivating the desktop version. Please don't deactivate it! Here's the e-mail I received.
It looks like you’ve signed into two Skype for Windows apps ‒ Skype for Windows desktop and Skype for modern Windows ‒ on your Windows 8 device.
We’re simplifying your experience down to one app that you can use either with your mouse and keyboard or with touch. Going forward you’ll only need to use the Skype for Windows desktop app. This app has more features to help you stay connected like screen sharing and group video calling. Also, your chat conversations (from the last 30 days) and all your contacts will appear as normal.
Note: From 7 July, 2015 you’ll no longer be able to sign into the Skype for modern Windows app.You are misreading it by 180 degrees.  It clearly states that it is the Skype for modern Windows app that is retiring not the Skype for Windows Desktop app.

  • Ipod Touch 5th Gen - Music videos contained in playlists don't display in full screen mode

I am using an Ipod Touch 5th Gen. I have music videos contained in different playlist that are utilized for a class where they are displayed on a large screen through a projector. When I playback the videos through the playlists, they don't appear in full screen mode. I didn't experience this issue with previous versions of the Touch. If I access the videos individually through the video icon, they display correctly.

That is how it works now. Make a suggestion to Apple to fix it by going here:

  • Reader XI do NOT want opening FULL SCREEN!

I am running Adobe Reader XI Version 11.0.2 on a Dell Windows 7 workstation with dual monitors.  We generally have a dozen applications open and we bounce all around between them.  Whenever I open a PDF document which ever monitor it was opened on last, it will open maximized on the display.  I do *NOT* want it to open maximized and I have searched high and low, tried setting Preference settings for Full Screen, Documents, everything I can find and no matter what I do, as soon as I open a PDF it's full screen.  I can get it to change how the document appears in the full screen view, like fit page or zoom to width, but it always opened FULL SCREEN!
How do I turn this feature OFF?!?!?!?!?!

I think I found the cause of the issue.  In my case, I use the Adobe Customization Wizard XI to create a transform file for installation.  One of the options I have enabled is under Direct Connect.  Under the "Property" table I have the option DISABLE_BROWSER_INTEGRATION set to YES.  I originally set this value because I didn't want PDFs to open within IE in my environment, I wanted it to open in Acrobat.  I found that in version XI, the usual place to control this setting within Acrobat was no longer there.  In previous versions, I would go to Edit > Preferences > Internet and enable/disable the option to "Display PDF in browser".
The workaround that I have done for now is create a separate transform file with the option set to NO.  I uninstall Acrobat and reinstall it with the new transform file.  To prevent PDFs from opening within IE, I have to go into Manage add-ons within IE and disable the "Adobe PDF Reader" add-on.  The problem is that disabling the add-on within IE is profile-specific, which means that if I have multiple users that share the same computer, I will have to change that setting for each user, which is a bit inconvenient.
I was hoping that this setting would be as easy as finding it in the registry somewhere and changing it there, but no such luck for me.  I looked over the registry and didn't see where the key or value was located.  Hopefully someone else with more knowledge than me can solve this puzzle.

  • Screensets don't work in full screen?

Seems that Screensets don't work when Logic Pro is in full screen mode.... Whether using keyboard short cuts or going to the menu item. Anyone else having this issue?

Yep, Lion's full screen has a long way to go, at this point it's mostly useful for computers with one screen and simple apps with one window.

  • After a complete restore of Mac from a Time Machine volume, I don't want a full backup the next time Time Machine backs up.

After performing a complete restore of my Mac from a Time Machine volume, Time Machine wants to perform a full backup the next time it backs up.This is normal: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1338
But I don't have enough free space on my external hard drive to do this because my external hard drive already contains one complete backup. My hard disc on my MacBook is 320 and my external drive is 500 GB, so it doesn't add up. I don't want to delete the original backup in case something goes wrong during the new full backup. What can I do?

You don't have too many options.  The best approach would be to buy a larger external drive.  The guideline for Time Machine is that you should have 2-3 times as much capacity on the external drive as data you're backing up.  See item 1 of Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  In any case, you can't prevent that first full backup unless you're willing to turn off Time Machine permanently.

  • How do I reduce the size of Firefox on my HP laptop. I don't want the ful screen.

On start up Firefox covers the full screen. I manually adjust it, but on the next start up it does the same. I'm using a HP Pavilion dv1000 of indeterminate age . Any suggestions?

Firefox has a full screen mode where the menu and toolbars are hidden, and a maximized mode where you get all the bars but the window is not resizable.
Normally, Firefox will remember the last window size and re-use that. However, sometimes the file that stores this information (as well as your toolbar layout customizations) becomes corrupted. The usual workaround is to rename the file and customize from scratch.
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit
Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename '''localstore.rdf''' to something like localstore.old
When you start Firefox again, it should be back to its default toolbar layout and window sizing.
Note: If you have a program named Advanced SystemCare, its Surfing Protection feature might override your settings changes between sessions. You may need to disable this feature.

  • Thumbnails perfect but don't open to full screen?

restored iphoto library from time machine.
all photos there in thumbnail but only some open to full screen.
    some just show  !

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • After re-directing to another URL the page control buttons on the top right don't response (minimize, full screen and close X)

    Hello,
From about a week ago, when I redirect from a given site to another URL (A link in the first site), the new site is opens and all controls such as "go back one page", "reload current page", "Print" etc. are working (responses) well. Only the top right 3 buttons - "minimize", "restore up/maximize" "close" are not responding (hanging) – actually the first top line of the webpage doesn’t show the proper site name (on the top left) but keeps the header of the previous window (A site, Windows navigator, windows player, etc. – the last one that was open before the hang-up). i.e., the top line of the Firefox browser doesn’t show up but I see the header of the previous window…
Also I opened the help "about Mozilla Firefox" to learn about my version and I can't close it.
Also, after it happened, any new Firefox browser window I opened (clicking the browser button for additional browser), it encountered same problem.
It happened also when an advertising popup happens when I open a site...
If I navigate not from a link on an open site, but by choosing new sites only from my bookmarks list, everything is working properly.
I tried help suggestions about add-ons, Spybot-SD immunization, etc. but can't solve the problem
I can close the opened hanged windows only by using the “Windows Task Manager” Window
    Thanks
    Shlomo

  • Don't want names on screen when texting

When I am texting people like peeking to see who I'm talking to I would like not to have names at the top of screen

Um... you'd have to change the name of the Contact in the Contacts App then.
Or maybe tell people to mind their own business and respect your privacy?

  • Call Display Picture Always Full Screen (I don't want that)

There are a few discussions about this, but they all seem to be over 4 years old, and I still have the problem.  (Please read the whole explanation, as I've tried several fixes already)
I am extremelly picky with my computer and phone "stuff".  Ever since I've owned my iPhone I've made it a point to add a picture to every contact I have.
Early in my iPhone ownership I realized that if you add a picture directly from your iPhone (wether is taking it directly from the iPhone cam while adding the contact or choosing from the library) such picture shows FULL screen when I call that person or when that person calls me.  If I simply open Address Book in my Mac and "drag" a picture (say for instance from Facebook) into the picture section of that contact and then synch, then when I make or receive a call from that person it shows small and I still see my wallpaper on the background.
Well THAT's what I want (just like in the Appple commercials), I DON'T want the full screen picture.
    Now here's THE PROBLEM;
For some reason NOW, I STILL add pictures the SAME WAY (I go into Facebook, and drag the picture into Address Book) but when I make or receive a call from that person the display picture ALWAYS shows full screen!!  It's annoying the heck out of me!!
The ONLY thing different is that now my contact are synched thru iCloud as opposed to synching using a USB cable in iTunes, HOWEVER, SOME contacts show how they are supposed to show (even adding them thru iCloud), but MOST others don't! I feel I should add that ALL contacts I had BEFORE I strated synching with iCloud still show fine, the ones that have a problem are MOST (but not all) of the ones I added AFTER I started synching thru iCloud.  And the fact that a few worked fine leads me to believe there's got to be a way of making them all show small.
Anyone has any idea of how to keep them ALL the same?

OK, that's interesting.  Now, how do I get all of my contact photos into iPhoto? And do I have to do this one contact at a time, or is there a setting where I can "import all".  Furthermore, once all photos are in iPhoto and I select "Import Face from iPhoto" can I do such actions for all contacts at once or do I have to do them one at a time?
