I don't want to store my library on my new mac
I have a new mac and an external hard drive with at least 30,000 songs. I want to import them to my itunes library but I'm scared this will put them on my computer's hard drive. I went into advanced settings in itunes and changed the location of the application, but don't want to import it all into library until I know it won't take up space on computer.
Any help?
. I went into advanced settings in itunes and changed the location of the application
That changes the location of the iTunes media folder, not the application.
Make sure you tick both *Keep iTunes music folder organized* and *Copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library*.
Then drag the folder with your music to the /Music/iTunes/iTunes media/Automatically add to iTunes folder.
Everything will stay on the external.

How do I manually transfer music with the new itunes update for Windows? I don't want to sync my library and lose all of my music for what I have in my current library.
The same way it was done in every previous version.
Connect the device to the computer.
Right click on the device in iTunes and select Transfer Purchases.
Why would you lose any content by syncing with iTunes?
Is this not the computer that the device is normally synced with? -

Due to divorce, all my music is on my iTunes and iPod. I have had to buy a new laptop and want to transfer the library to the new computer before deauthorizing the old one. I dont want to have to use an external drive every time I want to listen to my music. How can I do this and have the same basic iTunes setup as before? HELP!
You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year. It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you. Items that it does not find in the catalog it'll upload and store these in the cloud for you and you can download them on your devices. See http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/ -
I just bought a MacBook Air and don't want to store all my photos on it. I'd like to be able to store and access them on a separate back up disk but iPhoto won't allow me to access these saying:
"The iPhoto library is a Time Machine backup, and so cannot be used as the main library. Reopen iPhoto with the Option key held down to choose another library."
Can I use my back up disk to store my photos? If not, how do I get my photos from iPhoto onto my back up disk?
Would love any help!
Thanks in advance :-)You need to first restore the Time Machine back up. This excuse a TM back up is condensed and fragmented and so it needs to be expanded and reassembled before iPhoto can understand it.
After that, moving the Library is simple:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

I want to synchronize my iPOP with my new MAC. How can i do that without lost my applications and songs???
Backup you library and restore to the new computer.
iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive
or
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
- After all the media is on the new computer connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking one the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the iPod backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music. -

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs. -

bought a new macbook air because my old computer is formatted. I want to sync my iphone to my new mac, so I can save the data on my iphone without losing data. how can I do?
You need to copy everything form your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
The iphone is not a storage/backup device. it simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced. -
