I don't want to sync my ipod touch applications!!!!

I downloaded a bunch of applications directly using my ipod touch. Later, I connected it to my computer to update music and itunes began to sync all those applications and copied them from the ipod to the computer. When I selected that I don't want to sync applications, itunes proceeded to delete all of them from my ipod.
I don't sync my music or videos and I manipulate the content manually. I should be able to do the same with my applications. I don't need them on the computer. I just want to be able to use them on the ipod.
The entire thing makes no sense. I downloaded apps to my ipod, the only place that I can and will use them and yet I am forced to always transfer them to my computer, where they are of no use. And on top of that, they get deleted from the ipod if I don't want to sync.
Isn't there any way around this? Shouldn't there be a way to manually manage applications? If there is, I don't see it. Anyone have any suggestions?

I think the idea is that an application downloaded directly to the iPod from the store is backed up into iTunes and then copied back onto the iPod. This way, if you lose the content of the iPod (one example, due to a restore) the application (that you have paid for - no differentiation between free and paid!) is not lost.
The basic premise of an iPod is that it's a copy of your iTunes Library, and it's always recommended that your iPod is not the only place your content is stored.

when i want to synce my ipod touch itunes remove my apps what should i do?

Well, there's the problem... iDevices cannot sync with multiple computers.
The device and iTunes are doing exactly what they are designed to do.
Did all the apps on the device come from your friends computer?  If so, there is no way to sync with your computer and maintain the apps that do not belong to you.

  • I want to sync my ipod touch on itunes but it is telling me that i can only open it on one, what can i do so i won't have to delete anything and still be able to sync in?

my computer got all messed up so now i am using a different user on the computer to use it. iTunes isn't letting me sync my ipod touch 4g. It keeps on saying "This ipod is synced with another iTunes library. An iPOd can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time." I don't think i want to try the erase and sync method because i think it will delete everything. Is there anyway that i can sync my ipod into this iTunes and not have everything deleted?

    No.
Use your backup copy of  your computer to put everything back.

  • HT1296 I bought a new computer and I want to sync my iPod Touch with the new computer without losing data.

I bought a new computer and want to use the new computer to sync data with my iPod touch.  I understand that you can only sync a device with one computer at a time.  This if fine because I don't care to sync my iPod with the old computer anymore.  How do I set up my new computer to be the computer that syncs with my iPod touch from now on, without losing any data?

    You don't.
When you sync to a different computer it erases the content from the ipod and replaces it with the data from the new computer.
Just copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one, then sync

  • Both of my computer and Itunes don't want to detect my Ipod-Touch-3G-32GB

Something really annoying happened to me. I was updating my Ipod Touch 3G-32GB when I accidently pull off the USB link. Now both of my computer and Itunes don't want to detect my Ipod. What am I suppose to do ? [sorry for the mistakes, I'm French]

  • I want to sync my iPod Touch 4th Generation with the iTunes on my new laptop. However, when I try, it says, "Do you want to erase this iPod and sync with this iTunes library?" Does this mean even my games, photos and iMessages will be erased?

"An iPod can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPod with the contents of this iTunes library."
I used to use my desktop computer for all my iPod and iTunes needs, but it's Windows XP so I no longer use it. I now have a Windows 8.1 laptop which I want to use for my iPod. Photos can be backed up but I have a lot of game progress and iMessages that I don't want to lose.

You will lose your app data unless you backup to the new computer and then restore from backup will all the app in the iTunes library of the new computer.

  • Don't want to sync Podcasts, but want to keep on iPod Touch

In iTunes, I'm subscribed to quite a few podcasts.  Often, I want to sync my iPod Touch notes, contacts, and calendar with Outlook, but I don't have time for the podcasts to sync.  Is there a way to suspend the podcast syncing?  Currently, if I uncheck boxes for syncing, the podcasts disappear from the iPod Touch.  Then it takes forever to sync when I do have the opportunity.

Since you're quite a subcriber, you probably know that the sync time depends directly on the amount of changed content.  It might also depend on the type of USB supported by your device.  So it can certainly be an issue, depending on the circumstances.
I won't be able to take advantage of iOS5 on my device, which is one of the originals.  This will eventually change, but I'm seeking a solution for the current situation.  Also, data plans are expensive where I am, so I expect to be relying on USB syncing for some time.
I agree that the lengthy syncing should be done when time is not pressing, such as at bed time.  I posted this thread in hopes of finding a way to defer the nonessential (lengthy) synchronizations until such time, while still being able to do the essential (brief) synchronizations when I don't have the luxury of time.
Again, I'm not sure why the two are bound together, but I suspect it is because it is far easier to code it up this way rather than to develop an algorithm for the bookkeeping of true synchronization.  I mean, there's nothing to keep track of.

  • Cannot sync my ipod touch to new-installed itunes.

    Hi,
Last week my computer got a problem. and i sent it to the service to reformat the programs.
And when i want to sync my ipod touch to the new-installed itunes, it said *"The ipod "ipod touch" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation*".
What am i supposed to do?
    Thank you.

Then you will need to search for a 3rd party program to transfer content
    Pasted from another thread
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2234756?start=0&tstart=0
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump andiPodRobot.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • I don't want to sync my new ipod nano with all my music on my mac. i only want to put on certain albums. how do i transfer some of the music but not all? thank you.

i want to add music to my new ipod nano but i don't want to sync all the music onto the nano from my mac. how do i transfer some of the music but not all? thank you.

    Hello,
It is 2015 and iTunes still wants to tell me what to listen to. This problem still persists. The only solution I have found is to select "Manual ..." and pick one by one the items to sync.
When I select items to sync by artist or genre they do copy to the device. Then iTunes continues randomly selecting music until the device is full. When I want to load the Nano for a road trip I don't want 20% of the tracks to be Chakra meditation. When little Nano is docked on the nightstand alarm clock I DON'T want to hear Motorhead, Ministry, etc.
For all the effort aPple puts into seamless integration and ease of use ... Why the heck is it so hard to say NO? Sync these tracks and NOT those. Stop asking me to log in to your cloud service BTW. I do not want it.
    Thanks,

  • Want to transfer data and sync my iPod touch to a new computer

I have a new computer running Windows 7 and would like to sync my iPod touch to it now instead of my older computer running Windows XP. How can I transfer all my music, playlists, album art, apps, contacts, and other settings from the old machine to the new one? I connected my iPod to the new computer after I installed iTunes on it and got a message saying this iPod was already synced to another computer. I was able to get all the songs that I have purchased on iTunes, but the bulk of my music collection is from CDs that I own. I really don't want to have to import them into iTunes all over again on the new computer. Surely there is a way to transfer everything from one computer to another. Would appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

    Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
Transfer non-iTunes purchased music by using one of the third-party programs discussed in ths previus discussion:
    Best iPod to PC
    - Move/copy the iPod backup from the old computer .  It is located here:
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    - One you move the stuff to the new computer, restore the iPod from backup and sync.
