I don't want to upgrade to Windows 8.1 - How do I stop the automtice update?
I have Windows 8.1 and barely can use it. I certainly don't want my pc disabled completely by Windows 8.1.
GO to Control panel/ Windows Update . It's the one before the last one in the list. Click on it. On the left side you will have "Change settings". Click on it and select "never check for updates" from the first list. That's it.

My notebook runs with Windows 8.0 and functions well. Unfortunately the Windows OS want so to update to Windows 8.1 and my notebook does not accept the upgrade as it will not configure the change. Even though I have set the Windows update to require my approval before updates are initiated it continues to auto update to Windows 8.1. When the update fails my PC automatically reinstalls Windows 8.0 and I am back working again. This has happened 3X in the last 2 months and I am frustrated. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to stop this cycle?

I understand that you are having an issue with updating your Windows 8 to 8.1. Although you have set the update to require your approval before installing the update, it does it automatically.
When the update fails it reverts back to Windows 8 and all is well.

You can also go to the Windows Compatibility Center that may also help to determine what is required for a successful upgrade.
This one from MIcrosoft may also help. Update to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8.

Hi...I have this problem, everytime I want to print something out the mac asks me for the computer password...that is really becoming annoying after. That happened since I upgraded to mountain lion. How can I stop the computer from asking me that?
If you are printing via a Windows shared printer and it is the Windows user account that you are being prompted for then you can save this in the Keychain, as shown below.

Does the same happen in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)

I have deleted pictures off my phone and my computer, I have shut off all backups to Icloud except photo streaming but it doesn't help me get my storage to be freed up again. What am i doing wrong? I don't want to buy more storage I just want to delte stuff to free up my storage I've used for free. Help!

All devices are using updated software and here's the issue:
Mom & Dad each have an ipod 3gs. Two teen kids each have an ipod touch 4. All 4 devices use the same Apple ID, share free and purchased apps. The kids are receiving Mom and Dad's text messages & messages between our texting contacts.
Question: 1. How can we avoid the kids receiving messages displayed on our phones to their touches (we are aware of iMessage on/off but we know the kids are able to turn this feature on and off on their touches without the need for a password.
Question: 2. If we set up separate Apple ID's for each Ipod device, can we all still share current purchased Apps & continue to share purchased Apps? Apple allows up to 5 devices share Apps.
Help is appreciated before we choose to not upgrade the older 3gs phones to the latest iphone and get Samsungs.
Thank you.Any devices connected to the same icloud account can sync all the data on that account. For this reason an icloud account is really for a single user.
On a mac, if each user has their own account, then the itunes for that mac account should be set up to connect to that user's icloud account (System preferences>icloud). -
My HP LaserJet 4L lost its driver during an upgrade in Windows 7. How can I find the driver?
My operating system is Windows Utimate 32 bit and I have a HP LaserJet 4l printer that I found a driver for when I got Windows 7 and it worked. Now the printer won't work and I need to find the driver again. Can anyone help me?

I'm using Windows2000.. Some of my key software is not compatible Windows XP or 7 therefore I don't intend to upgrade or change. I just want to get rid of that damn "URGENT !! " popup nag that appears every time I access Firefox. I'm sure there are others that have the same problem. Is there a solution?

Firefox 32.0.3 works fine on WinXP and contains many important security patches - in fact the "nightly" Firefox 35 pre-release tester version works fine, too.

I have posted "submit" twice and keep getting requests to submit again. Now being asked to write a summary! Here we go. I have iPhoto 08 and am happy with it. Don't want to upgrade. But suddenly when I click on an event, instead of getting all the photos, I just get a large version of one photo and cannot move on to the others. The right arrow will not move it and the photo just jumps around.
Note the slider bottom right of the iPhoto Window. Drag it left.

Alll of a sudden I can't buy music unless I upgrade the software? I don't want to upgrade the software! I am having enough problems with Ver. 6, and I am told Ver. 7 is even worse.
PC Compaq Windows XPThe iOS 6.1.6 upgrade is only for those devices that cannot be upgraded to iOS 7.0.6...that includes things like the iPod Touch 4th generation. If the device can be upgraded to iOS 7.0.6 then there is no option but to go there.
Apple has never supported upgrading to intermediate iOS versions, and infact, takes them off the servers when a new version is released.
The SSL flaw in the lower iOS versions should not be an issue if you use good practices such as caution on unsecure purblic wireless...it does not mean your device can be hacked or entered. Only that wireless communications may be subject to eavesdropping. -

There is a world of information in these forums if you use the search function near the top right of this page. Just type in NAS for example and you get many threads on the subject (marked with a green checkmark if it solved the question) another example would be Airport Exterme and sound system. Once you formulate your ideas better then specific questions can be addressed one at a time. You may find that a less expensive choice for a server might be a mac mini. Good luck with your project, ask more specific questions and update you systems profile.

No, it is not possible. When upgrading the iOS on the phone, the only one you can install is the latest version, which for the iPhone 4 is iOS 7.0.4.
