How do i stop windows 8.1 from automatically downloading. I have tried to do it and it still keeps popping up. I don't understand some of the computer lingo so can you please respond in plain english what it is i should do on keeping 8.1 from downloading?

When a pre-order item becomes available, you will receive an email letting you know your pre-order is available for download.
If you've enabled iTunes to automatically download prepurchased content, then your pre-order content may already be downloaded to your library. I would contact iTunes if clicking on the link did not results in it downloading to your iPod.

Don't want to use Mail app any more; how do I delete all the downloaded mail?
New Macbook Air here. I never used the Mail app before and thought I might try it, but I seem to have accidentally downloaded like 30,000 old Gmail messages to my computer and now I just don't want to use Mail any more. How do I delete all these messages from my computer and just get on with my life? I don't need all this old mail taking up space.
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List. -
If I adjust one side of the firefox window to a new size, that is the ONLY thing I want to change! Why does it do this weird stuff I don't want it to do? Older version didn't do this. What's up with that???????

Does the same happen in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)

I have deleted pictures off my phone and my computer, I have shut off all backups to Icloud except photo streaming but it doesn't help me get my storage to be freed up again. What am i doing wrong? I don't want to buy more storage I just want to delte stuff to free up my storage I've used for free. Help!

I have gone in and "hidden" the items. But I have a very large movie, and a large translation program, that I Do NOT want on my phone (OR on my computer), but every time I open iTunes, it automatically starts downloading both these items. (plus all the apps, that I NO Longer want on my phone).
I don't care if the items are hidden. as long as they STOP downloading, every time i turn iTunes on.When you connect your phones to iTunes, select your iPhones and then click on the app button and simply select the apps you want to have on your phone.
You can also delet the applications you dont want by simply opening applcation in iTunes and then deleting them and moving them to trash. -
Overall, I like PS CC 2014. However, the most annoying thing is the popup window that appears EVERY time I start the program. It's the one with "Create", etc at the top and links to a bunch of videos. How do I make it so I no longer have to see it any more?

All devices are using updated software and here's the issue:
Mom & Dad each have an ipod 3gs. Two teen kids each have an ipod touch 4. All 4 devices use the same Apple ID, share free and purchased apps. The kids are receiving Mom and Dad's text messages & messages between our texting contacts.
Question: 1. How can we avoid the kids receiving messages displayed on our phones to their touches (we are aware of iMessage on/off but we know the kids are able to turn this feature on and off on their touches without the need for a password.
Question: 2. If we set up separate Apple ID's for each Ipod device, can we all still share current purchased Apps & continue to share purchased Apps? Apple allows up to 5 devices share Apps.
Help is appreciated before we choose to not upgrade the older 3gs phones to the latest iphone and get Samsungs.
Thank you.Any devices connected to the same icloud account can sync all the data on that account. For this reason an icloud account is really for a single user.
On a mac, if each user has their own account, then the itunes for that mac account should be set up to connect to that user's icloud account (System preferences>icloud). -

I am using firefox 4.0 in mac. Whenever I go to the korean site, the language bar switches automatically to korean from english, but if I am back to english based site, the language still keep korean. I don't want the language bar switches automatically depending on the site until I change it manually. It's very annoying. Thank you.
I don't know why it says that I use firefox 4... When I check in my About window it says 18.
I do ignore the message about the plugins. But I've started to get a little bit annoyed that I have to move up and press the little x every time I navigate to a site that needs something like flash. It eats up the size of about two text rows... it feels so unnecessary that it's there. If I want flash I will install it... The browser doesn't have to inform me about it every time.
I really hoped for a better answer. Hopefully the firefox crew will add an option to not show that kind of messages in the future. -

You linked them both to the same Apple ID and thence to the same iCloud account. Don't do that.

Once you are in Recovery Mode, it's too late to do any backup. I am afraid you are going to lose your data.

in iPhoto how do I stop files from auto resizing as they import? I don't want my files reduced to 72. The option to choose size on the export menu not suitable for up sizing, as you can't restore the quality removed.
Short answer: They are not resizing, there is no quality lost. The dpi is only set when you decide what size you're printing at
Longer answer: Dpi means nothing in the digital world of your computer. There are no "inches" to have "dots per..." Size is measured in pixels. That's the same on your camera. It doesn't take 10 x 8 or 6 x 4 shots. It takes shots measured in megapixels. For instance 4,000 x 3,000 is a 12 megapixel camera.
Using that example, that shot from that camera has 12 million pixels. So that's how many "Dots" there are. To decide the ratio of dots per inch, you now need to decide the "inches" part. And that's printing. Print at 10 x 8 and the dpi will be 4,000/10 or about 400 dpi. At 6 x 4 then it's 4,000/6 or 660 dpi. Work the other way: Print at 300 dpi and the resulting image will be about 13 inches on the longer side.
So, your photo as a fixed number of pixels. Changing the dimensions of the print will vary the dpi, changing the dpi will vary the dimensions of the print.

How do I stop applications from coming up when I power up my computer. If this were a Windows system I would be able to take the app out of the start up folder. On the Mac I don't know how.
The app (Excel) is in the dock. When I left click on it there is no check next to open at login.
Lets go back to the beginning when I installed ms office both word and excel were in the dock. then one day excel dissapeared. I put it back in the dock and that is when it started opening during login. There is only one X showing in the dock.
Maybe I have little gremlins.
