Please help i lost my i pod 5 and im very upset. I do not have the app Find My I Phone but was wondering if you could track it any other way.

- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

And again, the downloadable app has nothing to do with making your iPhone discoverable by find my iphone. But the app has nothing to do with enabling tracking on the lost device. To enable tracking of a device you do need a mobileme account in order to turn on the tracking feature so you can then find the lost device with either a computer and web browser or the app (running on another device).

If you can't remember your passcode, you'll have to restore it to remove the passcode, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.
If you're running iOS 7 with Fid My iPod enabled, in order to restore it you'll have to force it into recovery mode as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808, or erased it using Find My iPhone on icloud.com if your home button isn't working (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmfc0ef36f).

You should contact Apple support and ask them to deregister iMessage for the old number.

If the device has been connected to your computer and a backup was saved, open the itunes program and click edit>preferences>devices
This will show the date and time of the last backup you created, hover the cursor over the backup and it will show your serial number.
If you have the original box you can find it on the back also.
