I purchased a second hand iPhone 5. I don't have the apple ID of that iPhone which used for activation of this iPhone. I want to reset all the content and setting of this iPhone. Should I ?
Because that iPhone has the activation lock on you need to contact the former owner of that device and ask them to remove the lock. The can do this in a number of ways. First would be to manually enter their information on the device and allow you to complete the set up under your apple ID. The second method would be to have them sign into icloud.com. Once they are on that site, they can click the Find My IPhone and remove that device from their iCloud.

Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone begins to start, try this a few times if necessary. If still problem, you may have to just Restore your iPhone to get it working. In the future sync your iPhone with iTunes routinely and when it contains important data, iCloud when set correctly will do this for you continuously.

Unfortunatly the only way that you can get it off is to get the old user to input the password. You may need to contact that old user and see if he can put the old password in. hope this helps.

How have you managed to get apps on your phone that are tied to a different and unknown AppleID?
If these apps were not purchased by you, having them is effectively software piracy and you should purchase them using your own AppleID if you want to keep hem. -

Apple can fix it without your receipt or box. They pull the serial number from the device and determine warranty status from that. Hopefully ApplCare was registered to the product before you lost the receipt though. If not, you can go back to the point of purchase and obtain your AppleCare receipt and Apple can help attach it to the iPhone.

If you didn't set up Find My iPhone in the iCloud settings, then you can't. Notify the police and change the password to your Apple ID and any other online services you used from that iPhone, just as a precaution.

so my iphone 5 kept crashing and i brought it to the apple store and got a new replacement phone. Unfortunately for me the next day it got stolen, i have the find my iphone app but it says my device is offline so i cant track it nor can i wipe the contents. I have blocked my sim, but someone told me that i could get the product itself blocked so that the horrible theif cannot use it at all. Since it was a replacement product and i lieterally just got it i dont have the serial or imei number to get it blocked. Would apple have a record of the replacement devices number? i tried using the online chat but it wont work becausae i dont have the serial number or anything. thanks in advance for your help.

IMEI number carrier can track a device with but only way to do it is when the police bring a warrent

In your case your only solution is to restore it ( see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 ) and you may need to force it into restore mode to do that. This will wipe everything off it and reset it as new, without the passcode. You can then redownload purchased content, buy unless you have a sync'd copy of your contacts and photo's they will be gone.

Doesn't matter. That store is likely selling illegit iphones, brought oin from somewhere else.

Remember when you get a call when the phone is locked and you used to have slide to answer in iOS 6 and if you slide up you would have options to reject, reject with a message and reject with a reminder. We dont have that in iOS 7. iOS 7 *****, I cannot get back to iOS6, apple needs to be user friendly. Screen shot 1 when the phone is locked, screenshot 2 when the phone is unlocked. -

Take it back to whomever you purchased it from and ask for a refund. There is no way to get past the "Activation Lock".

You mean for an iPhone 4S? You can't. Yo can only update an iPhone 4S to iOS 8.1.3.
The only iPhone that can currently download iOS 6 is an iPhone 3GS.
