I dont know if i should get an iPad 2 or 3??

Hi all,
I am going to get an iPad soon but I dont know if I should get an iPad 2 or an iPad 3.
Its a lot to do with cost but I also dont want to get one that I will later regret and think I should have gotten the other!
I am looking to use it for everyday use, emails, apps, web browsing and when I am out and about the occasional film too!
I am really stuck because I dont have a lot of money and so therefore this is a big decision for me!
I know i dont really need the 3G already but I am really torn between the iPad 2 and the 3.
If I was to go for the 3 then I would only be able to afford the 16GB version which is the same as my iPhone.
If I was to go for the 2 then I could afford the 32GB version!
Advise would be really good thanks,
Paul

If you want a 32GB iPad 2, you must get a refurbished unit. See below.

  • I dont know if i should get a MBP 13 inch, or an air 13 inch?

MBP, OR MBA, OR PC? I have been wanting a MbP for a long time and i finally got one for my birthday and i just didnt have enough time to get to know how to use, and ended up returning it a day later. I have been a PC, user my entire life and it was hard adjusting to a mac. So i dont know if this upcoming birthday i should get the air or pro, or a pc? All i use it for is day to day surfing the web, putting pictures on it from my camera, and word/powerpoint for school!
    Thanks!

I know this might be blasphemous to post on apple.com, but if that's really all you want a computer for, I think you'll get much more for your money in a PC... and you won't have to deal with a new learning curve. Good luck, it can be a tough decision.

  • Ok so I have an iPod touch 4 and I want to get an iPad but don't know if I should get the iPad 2 or wait for the new one. I am 14 years

    iPad 2

Well, it depends how long you can wait. We can't discuss rumors on here about release dates.
Look at what you actually need though and decide how soon you need something.
What you'll want to realize is that every year or two something new will come out.. so you have to learn to fight off the "I need the new one" bug if you want to be satisfied with your purchase.  At your age you probably won't get the opportunity to upgrade for a while, so you'll have to learn to live with your purchase decision longer.
If the iPad 2 in it's current state does everything you want, and you enjoy playing around on it a lot, I'd get it now and be happy.  If you feel like you want the newest of the new and are willing to wait (in line and for it to release) then you should wait for the next release.
The iPad 2s are finally becoming available after many months backlog, so keep in mind the next release will likely be the same way and think if you could really wait that long to get something.
Alternatively you could also consider getting a used iPad 1, then use that while waiting for the next version. The used one could then be resold for a fair amount once the new one comes out. Apple products tend to have a pretty good resale value, and the iPads are extraordinarily popular.

i updated my ipad but i couldn't use it because it asks me the apple id i used it the first time and i dont know it, what should i do?

If you are trying to activate an iPad or iPhone and it is asking for a previous owners Apple ID and password, you have encountered the Activation Lock. This is a security feature that prevents thieves from setting up and using a stolen or lost iPad or iPhone. You have no alternative. No must contact the previous owner to get permission to use the device. If you cannot contact the previous owner return the device to where you bought it and get a refund. You will never be able to activate the device and no one can help you do it.

  • Hey guys, i dont know whether i should buy a macbook pro 13" or 15".

    Hey guys,
i dont know whether i should buy a macbook pro 13" or 15". May you give me some advice? I need a MacBook for bootcamp, office (especially word), a little bit of software development and a lot of safari. The 13" is small and fits perfectly in every bag. The 15" has more performance and a bigger display, but is it worth to pay 600 bucks more just for a bigger display. And what about the noise of the fan? What are your experiences??
    best regards
    Viktor

Here's what you get more, just off the top of my head, without looking at the specs:
    •  Quad core i7 vs. Dual core i7 (and even then, you pay more for it)
    •  Discrete AMD graphics card on 15" vs. integrated Intel HD graphics on 13" (which also is available on 15" when low battery usage is required)
    •  Larger graphics memory for better 3D, better photographic and video processing
That's just off the top of my brain.  If none of those matter, then sure, save money.  At that point, however, save more money and get the MacBook Air, IMHO.

  • I am going to buy a macbook pro for grade 12, and I need to know wheather I should get a macbook pro or a macbook pro retina. If someone could tell me (in a very simple way) which one is,better for me and why, I would be ever so apprreciative.

Why do you need a expensive MacBook Pro?
Your attending high school and unless everyone else is rich also your likely going to be a target by the more poorer students for theft or damage to the machine.
You could keep it home, but if you need it for class then your exposed again.
Also at that age your not very careful yet, a MacBook Pro is a expensive and easily damaged machine.
Unless your made of money and so are others at your school, I would recommned a low profile, just does the job cheap Windows PC.
If it dies, gets lost, stolen or damaged because of your inexperince handling senstivie electronics then it's no big deal.
You can buy a Mac later on when your sure you have a need for it, currently there isn't much advantage of owning a Mac compared to a PC, they do just about the same things now, one just looks prettier than the other.
Since 95% of the world uses Windows PC's your going to have to install Windows on the Mac in order to keep your skills up there or be unemployed, so it's a extra headache and expense.
    good luck

  • I need a mac, but I dont know if I should wait for the new OS X 'leopard'

I dont have a mac yet, but I was looking at the new OS and the Time machine feature really caught my attention. Being a design student this could be the feature ive been waiting for. I just dont know I f I should wait for 'leopard' to be released or not. I really nee the computer now, but I dont want to pay extra to upgrade to 'leopard' later on. The web-site doesnt specify when It will be released, I was wondering If anyone knew If its a couple of weeks or months?
This would help me make an easier decision.
If anyone could give me some insight, that would be great.
    thanks.

    iMacs that shipped with
    Tiger still boot Jaguar
Bollocks! While they'll boot specifically compiled
versions of Darwin they will not boot Jaguar from a
boxed retail version or any version of Jaguar that
    came with a Mac.
the iMac G5 will simply not boot any version of
Jaguar that came from Apple retail.
Bollocks! is right , you're absolutely wrong. My iMac which came with Tiger still boots retail Panther quire easily.
The tiger I was referring to, on my MBP is the Darwin 10.3 version recompllied to suport Intel. Yes i agrre that a newer Intel based system won't boot an older PPC based DVD, I should hope not. But thats because of PPC vs Intel NOT some supposed policy from Mac
I'm not sure where you get anything to support your statements since from the time That Intel based macs shipped with Panther there was no retail version of Tiger available for Intel, since then there has been no release of a new OS X so where are you even geting your so called "facts" from? Prior to that we were talking about PPC based Macs which most definitely ran prior version, in fact my old Powerbook which shipped with Tiger runs Jaguar and 10.2 and 10.1 as well.
While not officially noted, not that I'm aware of at
least, this has been Apple policy for quite some
time. While sure, you can get a Mac to use many
things it wasn't "meant" to although that doesn't
    mean one should.
That's just plain wrong on so many levels..
So where are your use cases to support your made up policy?
{i] If you look back at each successive Mac OS X upgrade
from Jaguar and look at the systems that spanned the
release of the newer OS. In each case, even though
the hardware was exactly the same, those systems that
shipped with the newer OS failed to boot and install
from the discs of the exact same system that had the
older version OS. Yes there were a few that did
although once Apple manufacturing caught up with
itself, which was normally a week or two, they
    didn't.{/i]
Just wrong again, Yes maybe if the hardware has changed to support some new device in the new Mac. The only way that would be true as if you factored in the change from PPC to x86 architecture. I have several machines which run retail versions of OSx back to 10.2, some even 10.1 on boxes that shpiped with Jaguar or even Tiger. And there are no firmware blocks that limit that. That is what you claim
Give us some examples of this "supposedly unstated policy" you seem to think is in effect.
INo… because you're not correct through simply not
referring to Apple retail versions of Mac OS X and
moreso, the implications of such advice infers that
one has full support for older OSs where they do
    not
Bottom line… if you want a system that runs Mac OS X
Tiger then buy one that comes with it..
First of all I never said that one has full suport for all old versions of OSX. I said there is NO policy in Firmware that prohibits newer OSX based machines from running older versions of OSX. But I think you're just basically overlooking the fact that in the cases you cite there were probably actual hardware progressions that made older retail version not see newer hardware. It wasn't some mysterious Firmware blocking as you claim. It was pure hardware progression.
By the way, what if someone follows your advice,
waits for Leopard and finds they need Tiger and can't
install it? What are you going to do beyond shrug you
shoulders and say "not your problem"?
Uhhh, if you read my post, I never said to do what you seem to think I said. I merely asked YOU to cite an example of this "policy" and firmware blocking, which you haven't done yet BTW, cause I think you're wrong and I don't think its a policy to block, as you suggest, in firmware, a previous OS version for every new hadware version shipped with a new software version.
When Leopard ships on a C2D MBP you will not have to worry about that MBP not running retail Tiger. It certainly won't have some mysterious firmware block on booting Tiger after some mysterious two week period as you claim. Now if there is a NEWER revision with newer hardware that ships with Leopard there may be an issue with a currently available version of Tiger because it doesn't support the new hardware. It won't be , as you claim, some unstated policy manifested in firmware that prevents Tiger from installing.
So lets just end this here and now cause its a waste of people's time and my posts weren't claiming that if you need tiger don't buy a machine with Leopard on it, as you seem to think I was saying. What I said and stand by is this. There is no unwritten or written policy that has Apple blocking previous versions of its OS X in new hardware shipped with new software via firmware. Unless tha actual hardware contains devices that the prior version of OSX was unaware of. That's all I was pointing out. Somehow you stretched this into something completely different.

  • I dont know if I should set up my IPod as new or to restore it from my old one

So i've had it my IPod Touch for six months and never connected it to my computer until now. But it is asking if I want to set it up as new or to restore it from the last time I synced my old Ipod (which was two years ago). I dont want to have my old IPod's information on my new one and I've also heard that setting it up as new will erase all the memory I already have on it. I have about $30 in apps and music on it and do not want to lose it. It has happened to me before while updating it once and dont want to happen again. So does anyone know which one I should choose and the outcomes of both the options?

File>Devices>Transfer Purchases will transfer the itunes purchases to your ocmputer.
You should sync your ipod to your computer regularly.

  • Every time I update mozilla, I cant use it in my notebook hp pavilion dv5, I dont know what I should change, I have windows7

when the update bar appeared I entered and then mozilla stopped opening

Really? Is it really a hot runner? Do you have experience with this yourself? When I got it from the factory it was nice and cool and quiet to be honest, but then it got all old and dusty and all that and it lowered the efficiency and heightened the noise. I just wanna know how to clean it to get it back to factory efficiency (or atleast something close to it), I'd be very satisfied with that.
Thanks for the list of CPUs, I'll take a look at it shortly

  • Well I am in my first year in college and am finally looking to get a macbook that I have always wanted. But I dont know what one to get. Ill be using it for school work, music and pictures, searching the web and traveling abroad.

I have a lot of pictures and i know I am going to be getting an external hardrive. But i am stuck between the 13 in new macbook air and the 15 in retina macbook. battery life is important but i want it to be really fast and just like a powerhorse. I could use all the input I could get. I will be studying abraod to and i want something that will be good to use over there and still be fast. Thanks guys all imput needed!

Goodness me, a month? That's crazy! I'd say wait it
out and get your free adapter or battery (though I'm
bitter I just barely missed the free nano promotion
    too).
I am expressing interest in getting that free battery, but I really don't need an extra adapter because I still have the original one from my first MacBook.
Had you mailed your MacBook in for just the random
shutdown issue? It seems bizarre that it has taken so
long, because I sent mine in for the same issue and
it took two weeks total turn around. Also, did they
give you any reason as to why it will take so long to
    ship out your replacement?
My MacBook was initially sent in just for the random shutdown issue, but then I called them while it was getting repaired to request the new plastic, since that was becoming a public issue. I think the logic board was replaced by two weeks into the repair, but then it had to wait longer for plastic. When all of that was replaced, it failed the final testing and was going to take longer, but they offered a replacement.
I think my replacement is taking so long because it is a custom build (so that took about 3 business days) and then estimated shipping is always one week, so since yesterday it has been waiting to be shipped.
    ARGH.

  • I want a iBook badly but i dont know if i should.

can anyone offer me advise on how they like there iBook or not? thanks cameron

First, I agree with Tal, you should read his 2 part review. I read it and would like to thank him for taking the time and effort in composing and posting it. I for one 'did' appreciate it! Briefly, I am a computer veteran - on the IBM compatible or Windows PC side of the fence - last month I purchased my first Apple, first iBook laptop (notebook). I was apprehensive because I wasn't sure I would like the iBook, OS X Tiger or the whole Apple experience - I needn't have worried - I Love it :)! I should have made the switch years ago, but then OS X Tiger wasn't available then :)? My iBook is a ditto of Tal's with the only exception being I went with the Super Drive. I had originally thought my computing time would be divided 50/50 between my Windows XP PC (desktop) and the iBook, what has actually happened is I spend 90 % of my time on the iBook and only 10 % on my Windows XP PC - Who would have thought, I sure didn't. Speaking about my iBook, simply put, it just works and I'm thrilled with it! Don...
