I download Firefox and can't install it. Get a "Not valid Win32 application." I get this with any program I want to install. I suspect a virus.

No program that has not been installed will linstall. No matter which I try, I always get "Not a valid Win32 application." I also clicked the "Automatic troubleshooting information," below, and it never stopped downloading so I was not able to go any further. It seems Windows must be fixed, somehow, but I have no idea about that. I tried to install both AVG and Avast anti-virus but it seems to be too late. Whatever I have prevents either of them from installing, too.
Nothing ever popped up, including a window with Allow. As the alternative, I don't see a Help>Troubleshooting Information, either.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you're running Windows try going to Start | Run and type in (w/o quotes) "%temp%".
That should open the temp directory where the software may be trying to install to. If the folder isn't empty delete it's contents and try again.

  • Downloaded firefox and can't get rid of ebay in search window

Everytime i have downloaded firefox, ebay is in search column. If i go ahead and type a desired address in search such as cement it carries me to items related to cement for sale on ebay site. No matter what, firefox carries me to ebay. Where does this contaminant come from and how do I get rid of it?

    Hi Bobazane8,
Firefox has the search engine selected as eBay. You can't get rid of it, but you can select a different search engine such as Google or Yahoo so if you want to search for that term, it'll pull it up on the search engine of your choice.
Simpy click the eBay logo next to the search field and select your choice.
See image below to see what I am talking about.

Defragged, cleaned disc, uninstalled, reinstalled, scanned with Malwarebytes and MSE, Temporary disabled Windows firewall, and Microsoft Security Essentials, attempted manual install, download to desktop and attempt install, delete and start all over again. Apple shows as having invalid signature during install. Also get same stuff with Ipod Touch upgrade to 4.0.

Never again. Please help how do i correct the win32 application error.

  • Trying to download 10.5.2 and can't:  I keep getting this message - There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

Can anyone answer what I need to do to download 10.5 iTunes to my computer.

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

  • I downloaded Firefox, but can't install because I "don't have permission to have all the" something. This is my personal laptop.

I wait until the download is finished, but when I try to drag the icon to the folder, it says I don't have permission to have all the info (not a direct quote). This happened yesterday when I was trying to upgrade, so today I trashed all the aliases and icons and tried to start over, but the same thing happened.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.
Install the new version that you have downloaded.

  • Can't run j2sdk-1_4_1_02: is not a win32 application

I tried to run it on win98 second edition with a Duron processor, but yust a second afterwards a window say that this is not a void win 32 application. Can somebody help me?

this message pops up when the downloaded file you are about to install is corrupted. this offen happens in the internet downloads.
this hasn't to do any thing with the processor when you are running advance os as win98.
After every download you must verify that the byte size of the download file given in the website is equal to the actual file you got after downloading.
if there is a mismatch please download again.

  • I want to upgrade my 2007 Mac desktop to 10.5 Leopard. I am currently running on 10.4.11. I have put the leopard disk into the drive and all it does is make a weird noise and then spits the disk right back out. It doesn't do this with other disks. HELP

I want to upgrade my 2007 Mac desktop to 10.5 Leopard. I am currently running on 10.4.11. When I put the leopard disk into the drive all it does is make a weird noise and then spits the disk right back out. It doesn't do this with any other discs, only this software. Is it still possible to update this computer?

    Yes. Try Amazon.
Before you do upgrade to Snow Leopard, make sure your Mac meets the requirements.
Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard - Technical Specifications
Make sure the disc you tried using doesn't have any fingerprints or smudges on it. The optical drive can't read the disk otherwise.
If your Mac won't read the disc, might be a good idea to rule out any problems with the startup disk BEFORE trying to upgrade the system.
Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

  • Downloaded Firefox and installed...but nothing

Downloaded Firefox and installed but when I type an address example : "facebook.com"....press enter.....NOTHING...NOTHING at all.....I did uninstall and then reinstall and still nothing...can you please share your wisdom...Thank you in advance for your help.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Cant install QuickTimeInstaller.exe or iTunesSetup.exe and IE9 SmartScreen Filter reports the program is not commonly downloaded and is not signed by its author. I run it anyway, but "is not a valid Win32 application". Tried Firefox

I followed the Article TS1406 (recommended solution) on both a Windows 7 OS and an Apple OS, tried Safari and Firefox, tried using 'Upgrade ITunes' button on my old version of iTunes, then uninstalled ITunes, then QuickTime, now can't install either because I'm getting the same error message when I download and choose Run > 'not a valid Win32 application'. On IE9, the SmartScreen Filter returns a warning that the file could harm my computer because it is not commonly downloaded. I tried downloading it from other internet sources, but that's risky, and anyway, it's still causing the same errors. What else is there to try? If I can't find a solution, I can't use my new Iphone 5

It's still pointing to the installers getting damaged during the downloads.
Perhaps try downloading and saving a copy of the installer to a different PC. (If you're on a 32-bit Windows system, try to download on a different 32-bit Windows system.) Copy the iTunesSetup.exe installer to an external hard-drive, or a large-enough thumb drive or burn it to a CD-R. Carry the installer back to your PC, copy the installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install from the ExHD, thumb or CD-R.) Start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.
