I download lnx_920_disk1.cpio.gz, lnx_920_disk2.cpio.gz & lnx_920_disk3.cpio.gz

When I try to unzip the files I received the message unexpected end of file, I followed the how to install, is any trick on it???

Ok, I have it. I download the files sometimes, always same error appear, (not end of file found or someting like that), I decided use just NT, I download cpio and gzip(gunzip come with it) for NT and last try, I download Getright too, I use Getright to download the files, next I ran "gunzip gunzip Linux9i_DiskX.cpio.gz", next I ran "cpio -idmv -I Linux9i_DiskX.cpio", well in my Windows 2k, it work fine, my next steps are burn a CD and install it on linux, I will try it tonight, I hope it finish well for me and for all you, Thanks to all and be luck too.

So we appear to be on version :- 10.1.2.3.0
Where I am confused is that the upgrade docs and posts I have looked at cover applying the 10.1.2.3 patch - i.e. 5983622 - but this patch looks to be same as the version that I have after 12.1.1 tech stack install ... and upgrade of system from 11-5-10-2 to 12.1.3.
DO I need to apply this patch ?Yes as this patch is 10.1.2.3.1 patchset -- Upgrading OracleAS 10g Forms and Reports in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 [ID 437878.1]
For your plan of action, it should be OK as long as you cover all the patches in the docs.
    Thanks,

  • Sun Sparcstation 5 Solaris 8 Oracle 8i EE download - 817solaris.cpio.gz

    Hi,
I'm new to the Solaris environment, although I had installed Oracle on Linux. I downloaded the above file, copied it to the Sun's 9G hard drive, made sure it had 128 MB of RAM. According to the download pages, I ran the following command:
    gunzip 817sol~1.gz; cat 817sol~1 | cpio -icd
The filename was altered because I downloaded it on a Windows PC. After about 15 minutes (it's a slow Sunbox), I ended up with a single large executable.
In my past experience, I had a folder to work with, with the shell scripts and Universal installer executables. This time, I just had one executable, and when I tried running it, I got an error message "can't execute". I set up an Oracle account, logged in, tried again, still won't run.
What am I doing wrong? The documentation Oracle provides assumes you have the 2 CD set, not the download.
I am a Windows Network Admin, I am experienced, and I know a little about Linux. If you have an answer, please post or write me at [email protected] Your help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks.

first rename the downloaded file to 817solaries.cpio.gz thru mv command
    then execute this
    gunzip 817solaries.cpio.gz; cat 817solaries.cpio | cpio -icd
this will unzip your file into Disk1 directory then change directory to Disk1 and execute runInstaller from there

  • Cannot download 10gr2_aix5l64_companion.cpio.gz  - file is missing

It is not possible to download 10g Companion CD Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) for AIX 5L. File is not found on download.oracle.com.

check the 'ulimit' of the user (probably 'oracle') - it is probably cutting off the size. try downloading the file as 'root' OR increasing the ulimit size.

  • Linux 920 Database Disk1 Problems

    Hi
After spending nearly 3 days downloading 9i for linux I ended up with Disk1 being a corrupted gzip.... Very annoying. Don't know whether this was my problem or not, but now I can't download lnx_920_disk1.cpio.gz again with resume supported. disk2 and disk3 are fine!
Any ideas to a frustrated user without broadband!!!??
    Cheers
    Chris

This problem doesn't just occur on Linux. I have encountered the same on both Digital Unix and HP/UX. I finally gave up and told it to just create the scripts. Looking at the scripts, there are a number of different problems depending on the items that you choose to install and/or customizations to db setup, such as size and placing of files.
To find them, I generated the scripts and then looked at the contents and used svrmgrl to individually run commands so that I could see the "real" error message.
It's been awhile but I think the not logged on was a failure in the initial create database command... Or maybe it was the MAX_ENABLED_ROLES being too small in the default init file to support some of the products... Or the rollback segments being created as private and not being automatically added to the init before the assistant does a shutdown and restart... Or it creating the rollback segment tablespace not the size and parameters that I requested...
You may guess by now I wasn't too impressed by the dbassist program. All I can say is doesn't anyone believe in testing anymore? I have a hard time believing that anyone at Oracle actually tested running this product and actually using any of it's features.
This really pissed me off because when I first saw the pretty GUI and nice interface I thought WOW, this is great, finally something to make database creation simpler than running all those commands and scripts.

  • 404 Not found for amd64_db_9204_Disk1.cpio.gz download link.

This has been broken all day. I spoke with someone in support earlier who told me that it would be fixed by "this afternoon". It is now evening in Redwood City.
Please reply, OTN Support Team --is there an ETA for this being fixed?
    Thanks in Advance.

How did you unpack it -
with the example given on OTN download page
    cpio -idmv < Linux9i_Disk1.cpio.gz
or using some other utility - for example mc under linux.
Unpacking it with mc gives exactly the results you described - don't ask why.
use cpio with the syntax displayed above - that is you must use it with "<" redirecting the input.
    Regards.

Since I can't download these files from oracle website. They can be provided after you submit Service Request to Oracle for them.

  • FYI: cpio command error

On the oracle 9i download page (http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/linuxsoft.html) the command line for cpio is stated as 'cpio -idmv filename'. My version of cpio requires 'cpio -ivmdF lnx_920_disk1.cpio'. the F is needed to state it is not comming from standard in, but from the file name that follows.

    no "c" in command.

  • Oracle 9i Linux installation cpio problem

While using cpio to unpack the 9i installation files for Linux I get "cpio: premature end of file" This only happens on the first file "lnx_920_disk1.cpio". The other files unpack fine.
    I am using the following:
    - Redhat 7.3 kernel 2.4.18-24.7
    - GNU cpio version 2.4.2
    - "Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard Edition for Linux" from http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle9i/content.html
I have scoured the internet and found the following suggestions (none of them work):
    cpio -icdcmv < lnx_920_disk1.cpio
    cpio -idmv < lnx_920_disk1.cpio
    cpio -idcmv <lnx_920_disk1.cpio
    cpio -icdcmvB <lnx_920_disk1.cpio
    cpio -idmv -I lnx_920_disk1.cpio
    cpio -idmv -H new < clnx_920_disk1.cpio
    cpio -idmv -H odc < lnx_920_disk1.cpio
    cpio -idmv -H crc < lnx_920_disk1.cpio
    cat lnx_920_disk1.cpio | cpio -idvm
I have tried all the -H formats!
What is going on? Why is this only a problem in the first archive file "lnx_920_disk1.cpio"? Even just listing the files out using cpio does not help.
A great many people seem to be having this problem.
    -Brent

When you have the cpio.gz files you must first unzip each of them.
    I.e. for each file run "gzip -d <file name>.cpio.gz and when it's finished run "cat <file name>.cpio | cpio -icd" (or "cat <file name>.cpio | cpio -id").
    Hope this helps

  • Wrong file size on Linux download page

    Hello:
This is what the Linux Oracle 9iR2 server download page looks like:
    Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard Edition for Intel Linux <http://otn.oracle.com/images/white_spacer.gif> Download the Complete Files <http://otn.oracle.com/images/bullets_and_symbols/red_arrow_bullet_35.gif> lnx_920_disk1.cpio.gz (553,607,967 bytes) <--- WRONG!! <http://otn.oracle.com/images/bullets_and_symbols/red_arrow_bullet_35.gif> lnx_920_disk2.cpio.gz (588,817,480 bytes) <http://otn.oracle.com/images/bullets_and_symbols/red_arrow_bullet_35.gif> lnx_920_disk3.cpio.gz (442,135,815 bytes)
The problem has to do with the first file (lnx_920_disk1.cpio.gz).
The stated size (553,607,967 bytes) is WRONG.
I have downloaded those 3 files more than a dozen times, getting
files of varying sizes. After several weeks, I finally had 3 files
with consistent sizes. However, the file #1 produces an error
message from gunzip (unexpected end of file).
If Oracle Corporation claims to be a technology- and Internet-savvy
company, they should know that the best way to avoid problems like
    the above is:
    - offering an FTP (i.e. TCP-based) download option
    - including the corresponding MD5SUM next to each file.
Everybody else (well, probably not Microsoft) is doing this.
    Why not Oracle?
Thanks from a very frustrated sysadmin.

    Hey mister Millaard,
I have problem because Premiere always use Mainconcept DV Pro codec when import file in my case. But I find solution:
    From
    C/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Premiere Pro CS3/Plug-ins/en_US
    I remove
ImporterMCDVCPRO file and now Premiere import avi files as MS-DV AVI.
Maybe this can help somebody else.
