I download the new version. No Firefox icon appears to be dragged into the Applications folder. I am on a new Mac with the latest software.

I downloaded the most recent version of Firefox as requested. No Firefox icon appears
to drag into the Applications folder. I tried twice with no luck. The old version remains.
I am on a new Mac. I will, when this works, be updating my older Mac as well.

The thing in your download folder is a "disk image." You have to double-click it and it will place a white "disk" on your desktop. It should also open a window with a Firefox icon and your applications folder. Then you can drag it to the applications folder. When you are done drag that disk to the trash. I have a MacBook 10.5.8 OS. I have been getting an auto update notice for updating my current version 15.0 to 16.0.1. Tried to download version16.0.1 from Firefox web but got following message: A newer version named Firfox.app (15.0) already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the one you are moving? How can this be if the current version on my mac is 15.0?

  • I downloaded 5.0 but it isn't giving me the icon to drag into my application folder. I have a Mac. What to do? Thanks

    The download Firefox page said a Firefox icon would appear to drag into the Application folder and from there I should drag it onto my Icon bar. I downloaded 5.0 but no icon is appearing on my screen to drag to Applications? I have a Mac computer and have been running Firefox for quite some time. How do I get the down load into my Application folder and then onto my startup bar? Thanks

  • After I download the new version of firefox, it flashes that it cannot finish because I do not have privilages to certain things in the new version. Can you explain this?

    I get all through the downloading process and move it to my applications. It then ask me if I want to replace the old version with the new one. When I click on replace, a new window comes up with the fact that my computer does have privileges for some of the operations so I cannot complete the process. What really gets me though, is that it still pops up saying I need to download the new version. I do not know what to do.

    If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
    Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    *Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    *Install the new version that you have downloaded
    Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

  • How do I get the prompt in "Step 2" of the download process to provide the icon I need to drag to my applications folder?

    The problem with the help page is that it starts after the browser is downloaded which is great, but I generally have very few questions about the browser once it is downloaded, it is getting it downloaded that generally provides the most difficulty.
    The last time I tried to download a Firefox upgrade 3.4 to 3.6, I think. I had a different but similar problem. Then I would click on the download button and nothing would happen, this went on for several months. But I hung in there and dutifully clicked the download button again and again for about 6 months and one day, I won the download lottery for that day and the damn ting downloaded.
    Now I am trying to download the beta verson 4. As a result I guess of my past determination I am now getting hung up at Step 2. It appears to download, by that I mean the little window (excuse my nomenclature I'd completely computer illiterate which doesn't help) with the blue download line and the timer numbers runs across the top of the download window. But then nothing else happens. It never goes to step 2 which is dragging the icon to my applications folder. What is the magic formula this time? Or am I destined to just continue to attempt the download again until the computer gods finally decide I am worthy to receive version 4?
    I have already tried three different times. Still nothing. I have a 1.5 GHz PowerbookPC G4 with Mac OS X Version 10.5.8 and 1.5 GB DDR SDRAM

    Hi,
    I still have a problem in geting
    Window Coords for the Plot Area of a CNiGraph (under VC++) :
    What I do (inside of CNiGraph derived) :
    CNiImage image = Images("Plot Area");
    image.SetUrl("C:\\WINDOWS\\Circles.bmp");
    image.Reload();
    CNiPicture Picture = image.GetPicture();
    int width = Picture.GetWidth();
    width is 847,
    and that is, I think,
    the Himetric (1/1000 m) width of the
    bitmap ploted on my Display.
    The width doesent change, if I
    resize the CNiGraph Ctrl !
    So, is there a nother way to calculate the
    actual size of the Plot Area ??
    Yours,
    Joerg Peleikis

    I can no longer get into my e-mail account on Google. I tried to update my version of Firefox. I also deleted all cookies in Google. When I click on Firefox, it opens to my Google home page. Then when I click on "gmail" it keeps repeating "redirecting" and does no more. What did I do wrong or forget? Help!

  • No task bar/menu bar or icons appear when I login into my main account, however this is not a problem with my guest accout

    So was trying to use install disk ! to solve the problem but did not want to reinstall the system because I have not backed up many of my photographs.  Then the disk got stuck and would not come out so when I shut down and restarted I could not get past the gray screen.  Well I was able to solve the problem and remove the disk, and finally it would load to the login screen, although it took some time to get there.  Then when I log in to my main account the desktop will load but the task bar and icons will not its completely blank except for the wall paper.  When I login into my guest account there is not a problem everything is there and functional. I've been researching but have had no luck on a solution.  Thank you for your help.

    Hello,
    Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    *Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
    Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    (Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive & clear caches.)
    If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • Firefox icon appears in taskbar but everytime I open a new webpage another Firefox icon appears behind the first. I've had as many as 10. How can I stop this?

    Don't know what else to say except that I've tried every suggestion to stop the multiple tiled icons in the task bar as I could find. When I say tiled I mean that the second and third (etc.) icons are slightly offset to the right of the top one. If there are several there and I click on the top one every page I visited but did not close before going on to another website will appear in a small window just above the taskbar.

    This looks normal to me, I tend to have several windows open at the same time. I get the same tiling for other applications, such as MS Word and Adobe Reader. There might be a Windows-wide setting for this.
    If you only have one window but multiple tabs in the window, you should be able to turn off the separate display of tabs on the Taskbar in the Options dialog.
    I'm sure Fred would have directed you here for that:
    orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Tabs
    Uncheck the box for "Show tab previews in the Windows taskbar"

  • The new version of Firefox won't let me access the internet. How do I fix that? I hate Internet Explorer!

    On Saturday, 5/10/14, I was using Firefox at work with zero issues. I attended to work briefly, and when I looked back I saw the status bar saying my "add-ons" were being checked. Ever since then, Firefox WILL NOT connect to the internet, and I am forced to use Internet Explorer, and THAT jams more than I am willing to tolerate. I have no idea what actually was done, from a technical perspective. I tried system restore, and even found the link with the older versions of Firefox on it, but its all code, and way above what I know how to do with computers.

    hello, normally such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions: [[Fix problems connecting to websites after updating Firefox]]

  • What do you do if you already installed the newest version of firefox and then it tells you, your OS X will not run the newest version?

    Basically I have a Macbook Pro from 2007 and it is running MAC OS X 10.4.11. I have some things to fix on the computer before I am going to update the OS.
    Is there anyway to download an older version of firefox? I really really really hate using safari.
    Please help ASAP!!!

    Hello,
    The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.
    '''''Note:''' When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences.'' See the [[Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings]] article for more information.
    To Refresh Firefox:
    # Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    #*Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click help [[Image:Help-29]] and select ''Troubleshooting Information''. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    #*If you're unable to access the Help menu, type '''about:support''' in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
    #At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
    #Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
    #Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.
    Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.
