I downloaded Acrobat XI on my PC and believe it had a virus

After downloading the program, my computer began to slow down and programs stopped responding. I uninstalled Acrobat XI and the problem continued to get worse. Before I completely shut my computer off, all icons on the desktop disappeared.
I Googled the issue and several people had the same problem,  they described it as a Masquerade Trojan.
Does anyone know how to get this problem off of my computer?

- Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
- Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Best iPod to PC
- Make a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and right clicking one the iPod under Devices and selecting Backup.
- Restore the iPod from backup and sync as necessary.

When you buy software to download it's VITAL to archive what you download, preferably to a CD/DVD. I write the serial number on the disk for completeness.
That said, you may be able to log on to My Adobe and see if they have a record of your purchase, and it's recent enough to still have a download. If it's the CURRENT version you can just download the demo.

DO NOT download AVG. As has already been pointed out repeatedly, this is not due to a virus, and AVG is no good on the Mac anyway.

  • I just downloaded Acrobat XI Pro trial version - Expired?

I just downloaded Acrobat XI Pro Trial Version and the first time I try to open something it says my trial period has expired but I JUST ENROLLED.  I am needing to upgrade from 9 Pro - hated 10 Pro and would love to try 11 pro before I make a mass purchase for my company.

Since you are at a company, I suggest you try the trial on another computer. Be careful if you have another version installed as XI may uninstall that one or mess it up.

  • I've purchased and downloaded Acrobat XI Pro but can't get it to install

My Acrobat XI Pro trial ended and I purchased it rather than subscribe.  When the download assistant completes, it does nothing other than say the download is complete.  I located the downloaded file and ran setup.exe.  I appears to go through the motions but, when I attempt to run it and insert the provided serial number, I'm told that the serial number is valid, but that no qualifying application can be found on my computer.  I'm in a loop of downloading, attempting to register, uninstalling the application to start over, re-downloading, etc.  I'm getting nowhere after paying $200 to purchase the download version of Acrobat XI Pro.

Your description reagrding "qualifying" is indicating that you purchased an upgrade version of Acrobat Pro.  The qualifying version that it is asking you to identify and provide the serial number for is the older version that you are upgrading from.
If you had/have the trial version installed, you didn't/don't need to uninstall it.  You can activate it to full use with your serial number from the purchase

  • I downloaded Acrobat in August, and would like to use it on my laptop as my secondary device. I understand that one user may use 2 devices under 1 license, as long as not run simultaneously. How is the second download completed?  (Dummy instructions pleas

This is the only information I've found about using a second device from Adobe:
Can I use my software on two computers?
If you own, or are the primary user of, a single-user or volume license Adobe product that is installed on a computer at work, you can also install and use the software on one secondary computer of the same platform at home or on a portable computer. However, you may not run the software simultaneously on both the primary and secondary computers.  No more than one user can use a single-user license Adobe product.  Note: AVL customers have to buy two different licenses to use both operating systems, even if they have two different computers. They can only use the same license on another computer (not simultaneously) with the same platform at home.
This is actually for my boss so any timely help is appreciated!

    Hi rebecca,
You can download Acrobat from: Download Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | XI, X
and use the purchased serial number to activate the software.

    Hi halb10567672,
You can download the setup file again from this Link (Download Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | XI, X ) and Burn it to a DVD Disc using Windows Explorer.
Please revert back for any further query or assistance.

    Hi Irenedix,
If you are using Acrobat you can try the suggestions mentioned above.
Are you using the Create PDF service from within Reader to create pdf?
If yes then please check if you are able to login to: https://cloud.acrobat.com/convertpdf  with your Adobe ID and able to convert the document to pdf.
If yes then within Reader you can try the following:
    Choose Edit > Preferences (Win)
Click 'Online Services' or 'Adobe Online Services' on the left-hand side
Sign out of your Adobe ID and sign back in.

    Hi,
Standard or Pro would be licensed through your serial number, the download link and downloaded file would be the same for both of them.
Pro or Standard would be determined after you put in your serial number.
    Download Acrobat products | 9, 8
    Thank You

downloaded acrobat reader 11 onto my Mac Book Pro, it can open the file but will not print. Get a message that says PDF cannot be printed, however, I forwarded it to someone else and they could print it, no problem. I called HP and spent an 1hour with them and then called Apple support and worked with them for 3 hours. No one can figure it out. Is there something wrong with this version? the pdf was created in 2004. Do I have to pay to get Acrobat?

Let me give you a slightly different perspective than everyone else here.  You are using an unsecured wireless network, which means that all your network traffic is easily available for viewing by anyone else using that network.  That's bad.  Very bad, for you, unless you absolutely trust everyone who lives within range of this network.  So stop doing it.
As to the Mac not connecting, wireless networking is simply too complex for any reasonable answer without more information.  There are many possible error points, and as often as not it's the Mac that can connect and the Windows PC that cannot.  Since you can't give us any information about the configuration of the neighbor's network, and can't make any changes to it, we can't do much to help you troubleshoot it.

I have a DVD Acrobat Pro 9. I upgraded laptops and trying to install but the DVD is not readable. How can I get a new DVD or Download Acrobat Pro 1. The product is registered and I have the serial number. PS: Contacting Adobe on this issue is impossible... direct support stinks.

Download AA 9 Pro from http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html. Make a new backup for your archive. You might also take the DVD to your library to see if it is a drive problem. You might also carefully clean the DVD with water and soap (do not use anything that would scratch the surface or you have destroyed it for sure) and see if that solves the problem. This is particularly an issue if you have finger prints or other crud on the DVD. However, it could also be a bad drive as I mentioned. Hopefully the download solves your problem in any case (I would backup the download to CD and/or backup HD).
