You don't open it on your computer.
Apps from the itunes store are for ipod/iphone/ipad.

To add additional songs from your iTunes library on your computer is done with iTunes on your computer via the iTunes sync process. You can remove all the existing and transfer different songs, albums, genres, etc. -

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

App hung on "waiting"; during update, I lost my wifi connection and the app hung; now cannot delete to reinstall (no X), synching does not help; itunes app store says it is installed, therefore I cannot reinstall; deleting the app from itunes and synching does not reinstall the app on the ipod; the app developers have not helped and told me to check with Apple (which I am doing, since I am past my 90 day tech support). Hoping someone can help with this hung "waiting' app problem.
- First try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Next download the app on the computer and try to sync.
- Last, restore from backup. -

everytime i try to download an app from itunes, or to 'view all' the apps listed, the error says; 'We could not complete your iTunes Store reuest. The network connection was reset' I used both my desktop and laptop both on Windows 7 Pro, & net is fine. please help. is there soemthing wrong with apple store temporarily?
The latest message is: 'We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection was reset.'
In between, I got a messge about verifying my payment method. When I tried to submit the details, I kept getting a mmessage stating that my payment method was declined (my card is not near it's expiration date, and works fine).

I have a iPad 1 (first one) I downloaded some movies from iTunes and with full volume I can barely hear them, but the apps I have downloaded are much louder. Any suggestions
She must have signed into her own Apple ID on your iPad in order to sync her content from iTunes so try this and see if it works.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. See if your ID is showing in there and if it isn't - tap on her ID, sign out and then sign in with yours.
You should not be syncing to to different iTunes libraries. The iPad can only sync with one iTunes library without erasing the the content on it if you decide to sync to another iTunes library. -

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free apps without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)
