I downloaded episodes from iTunes U, but can't transfer them to my iPod

Hello,
i've just downloaded 37 chapters of a book (free content from USF Lit2Go) on iTunes U and although the chapters now appear in the iTunes U tab of my iTunes on my Macbook, when dragging and dropping the content into my iPod, the chapters do not appear on my iPod.
Help, please? Ideally I'd like to listen to the book when I'm out and about.
Thank you!

Is the song configured to sync your device? You can check by looking at the iPod's Music configuration tab in iTunes. To access this tab, plug your iPod in and click on it from under Devices in the left hand pane of iTunes.  Over to the right locate the Music tab along the top and select it.
Are you getting any error messages during the sync process?

  • Removing podcast episodes from iTunes 12 but keeping the files

I want to be able to remove a podcast episode from iTunes 12 but keep the audio file on my computer. This used to be an option, but now I am no longer asked if I want to keep the file. It's just automatically moved to the Trash. I like to archive podcast episodes on my external drive, but I don't always feel like getting the drive out when I'm done listening, plugging it in and dragging and dropping the files. I'm lazy like that. I would keep the episodes I plan to archive on iTunes until I feel like breaking out the drive, except that brings me to my second issue: my podcasts seem to all be set to automatically delete played episodes after 24 hours, at least depending on what view I'm in. I have "Delete Played Episodes" set to "Off" in my default podcast settings, and when I context click a podcast in the "My Podcasts" view and select "Podcast Settings" it says "Delete Played Episodes" is "Off". However when I go to the Playlists view, select an episode and click the "Settings..." button at the bottom, it always says the selected podcast has "Delete Played Episodes" set to "On", even if I click to change it to "Off" in that view. So there's obviously a contradiction there. I don't want to take the chance that my played episodes will be automatically deleted so the sooner I get them off iTunes the better. Unfortunately that means deleting them, then dragging them from Trash back to the iTunes Media/Podcasts folder and into each appropriate podcast folder, which is annoying. Please tell me that the removal of the "Keep the file" option is just a bug. If Apple is, for whatever reason, trying to discourage me from moving my played episodes out of iTunes and onto another drive, then I'm just going to stop using iTunes altogether.

The iTunes Store reads your feed at intervals and caches the contents (the information, not the actual media files): when you make a change to the feed it usually takes 1-2 days for this to be reflected in the Store. Pinging doesn't seem to make a lot of difference. Very occasionally it all slows down and can take several days.

    Hello Rod2174,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your iPod shuffle. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. If you are having issues transferring music to your iPod or playing music that is on your iPod, you may find the information and articles linked from the following page helpful:

You mean Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac

  • HT204406 I just downloaded music from Itunes Store but all of the music did not download.

I just downloaded music from Itunes Store but all of the music did not completely download.

You could try emailing iTunes support, giving them your order number, etc. or you could just take the hit and pay the 99p.  I know what I would do.

  • Some songs i downloaded directly from itunes won't convert and transfer to my ipod

I convert everything I download to AAC, so the files are smaller and can fit more on my iPod.  However, some things I recently downloaded directly from iTunes wouldn't convert and transfer to my iPod, even though they're in my library.  I tried downloading the newest version of iTunes, restoring my iPod, and manually converting the files.  Attempting to manually convert the files just gives me an unkown error message.

Read the solutions in this thread - converting songs downloaded from iTunes Music Store and "converting" music information in the user manual - iPod Manuals

  • I can stream from my computer, but can't transfer anything to the Apple TV

I can stream from my computer, but can't transfer anything to the Apple TV unit. What am I not doing or missing?

I beleive that I found the solution in anoter post1 I will try when I will home:
"Since 2.0 streaming happens automatically if your computer is on and iTunes is running.
So, computer off = synced content on AppleTv.
Computer on, merged media list of synced and streamed content - AppleTv uses the synced content if available instead of streaming the same stuff.
Must say I preferred the original 'Sources' and found it more intuitive. other probably prefer the new system.
If you only see stuff that's synced you need to check that the box under Custom sync saying 'Show only the synced items on my AppleTV' isn't checked. (That's in iTunes Devices>AppleTV>Summary tab)."

    Hello!!!
    This realy works??

Where is the backup of the media and other important files from the computer?  Ultimately, it is the users responsibility to ensure that backups exists. Waiting until there is a problem to decide to do a backup is not smart.  Would you wait until a fire started in your home to call the insurance company and inquire about homeowners/renters insurance????
In the event that no backup exists (stop being lazy.... keep backups of YOUR data and other important files):
If you are in the US and running iTunes 10.3 or later, it is possible to redownload music via iCloud from purchased history.
If you are not in the US or for some reason cannot run iTunes 10.3 or later, contact iTunes customer support and ask very nicely for the opportunity to redownload the content.  They are not required to provide this opportunity.
It is also possible to transfer content from an iDevice that was purchased via iTunes.  On the new computer, sign into the iTunes account, authorize the computer, connect the device then select File > Transfer Purchases.
The simplest method of all is to transfer or copy the media (and other important files) from the old computer or the backup of the old computer.  Typing "move itunes library" into the search bar here or into google will reveal step by step instructions on how to do this.

  • I am using Garageband and saving my tunes as iTunes files but can´t find them in iTunes on my computer after syncing. Where are they?

I am using Garageband and saving my tunes as iTunes files but can´t find them in iTunes on my computer after syncing. Where are they?

My answer in the older thread is still valid
Maybe the "iTunes Music" folder is hidden.
Please open Terminal and issue the following command
    ls -ladO /epoche/Music/iTunes/iTunes\ Music
you should get a line similar to this
    drwxrwxrwx  13 yourusername  staff  hidden 442 12 Mar 21:49 /epoche/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music
Numbers, date and time may differ.
If you see hidden then the folder is hidden. To unhide "iTunes Music", in Terminal issue the following command
    chflags nohidden /epoche/Music/iTunes/iTunes\ Music

  • The vast majority of my iPod music was not purchased from iTunes. How can I transfer the music from my iPod to my new MacBook?

Most of my music on my iPod was not from iTunes and I need to transfer it to my new MacBook Pro. Anyone know how, preferably without spending money?

  • Deleting Songs From iTunes Library...and Keeping Them On Your iPod

Will this process allow me to delete songs from my iTunes library, but keep them on my iPod?
    1. When iPod is plugged in, check "Only Sync Checked Items" in iTunes
    2. Delete items from iTunes library.
    3. Add new items to iTunes library.
    4. Sync iPod.
It should keep the songs I deleted from iTunes on my iPod, right?
If you need me to be any clearer, please ask.
EDIT: If this will not work, is there another way to do this? The songs I have are taking up a lot of room on my computer.

Any auto sync method you use will delete the songs from the iPod if you delete them from iTunes.
You can delete songs from your iTunes/computer hard drive after transferring them to the iPod, and for this you need to set your iPod to manage the songs manually.
However, this is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.

  • I have downloads from Napster, but can't get them on my ipod

The ipod loaded the iTunes songs, but I have lots of songs from Napster that won't go on it...HELP! What do I do?

Napster music files won't play on the iPod, neither will iTunes convert them to a format that will because they are protected wma files which neither the iPod nor iTunes can play.
What you would need to do is to burn these songs to an audio cd and then import it into iTunes and transfer the songs to the iPod.
And that's always assuming Napster lets you burn the songs to a cd. Some music download services don't allow this unless you pay extra.

  • Difficulty downloading episodes from your feed, but everything looks good :(

So I've just started up a podcast and I'm trying to get it in to iTunes, but can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is.
    The feed is here: http://theinquisitiveatheists.com/podcast.xml
It has a single episode, and I can subscribe using the test 'subscribe' in iTunes, but when I try to play, it won't play the episode.
The first ep is ~70mb. I run my own web server (cPanel) and have confirmed byte-range downloading is enabled.
I've successfully downloaded/subscribed using other podcast programs, like ePodder.
    Any help is appreciated.
Update: Figured it out. I had spaces in the file name. That works for other programs, but iTunes apparently hates spaces. Remvoing them and replacing with hyphens fixed the issue.

That's right: spaces are not allowed in URLs - this is an absolute rule. Browsers can usually cope by substituting the code %20 for eachspace when requesting the URL but iTunes doesn't and thus sees the URL as ending at the first space.

  • I have downloaded films from itunes recently but the actual data has been deleted so I will need to re-download it, is there anyway to do this for free?

    -

It has always been possible to re-download 3rd party apps without having to pay again for purchased apps and recently the same is now available for iBooks and music purchased from the iTunes store, but not for movies and tv shows.

This is one of the reasons why including your iTunes library with your computer's backup along with all other important data is a good idea.
