I downloaded lion on my imac and new icons are not in doc, help!

I downloaded Lion on my imac and nothing is new, there is no new icons in my doc. No launchpad etc.

The installer should have put an icon into the Dock and the Install Mac OS X Lion.app into /Applications. Save a copy somewhere else so you don't have to download it again, then run the Install Mac OS X Lion.app. The installation is a two-step process.

Unfortunately on these days I'm in a country that Apple don't have any retail store here and for sake of time I prefer to fix it myself to DHL it to the nearest country to use its warranty. After upgrading to Yosemite I cannot download updates and the icons are not question marks.

This definitely happened with the new 10.7.0.21! We are having the same problem, the apps are all in iTunes but cannot sync anymore! Apple needs a bug fix ASAP.

But not a single of the following answers shows the helpful (yellow star) or correct (green star) icon.

When I click on correct OR helpful next to this post (no matter which of them) I get shown a radio button where I can choose only one of this two: "Yes, my question has been answered." or "No, my question has not been answered yet."
I am not very much interested in the points but want to find "good answers" quicker when reading through different posts. And for this reason the icons are extremely helpful.
I would suggest every answered thread must get at least one "green" icon in order to be closed. If there is no correct answer I would i.e. have to post my own solution to it and this would get the "green" icon which could be altered i.e. to a blue one or so...

My calendar in 10.8.2 never finishes updating and new entries are not syncing to cloud

When i open the Calendar app and choose to refresh my calendars the 'Calendar -- Updating...' message at the top of the calendar window never goes away and the new entries on my computer do not make it to the cloud. Additionaly new entries on the cloud - created on my phone or on the web - do not make it to my calendar.
Any sugguestions?

Good suggestion. I did that and it seems to have worked! It synced through the manual sync, of course, but I have also now made a couple of test entries and they do go through both ways - ALTHOUGH it takes much longer (a few minutes) to show on my phone when the entry is originated in my computer, whereas when the entry is done in my phone it takes literally two seconds to show up on my computer. I'll take it, though, as long as it continues to work.

Downloads, add-ons,extensions, and the like are not visible. Help?

I cannot view any of my downloads, extensions, add-ons, themes, etc. I know they are there. My downloads complete, but I never see them. I can't install any new add-ons or anything because I can't select them when the window pops up, its just blank.

Iphone 4 and new update are not compatible

Tried to update my phone now it is completley screwed up and Apple says its a harware issue, and to fix it will be 150$ needless to say I am finished with iphone and apple. Has anyone else had this issue? Tried a total restore and still no luck.

No software update causes flakey hardware.
Either the update did not apply correctly or the hardware is failing.
Restore the device as new.
Stop whining.
If the issue persists, take the device to Apple for evaluation.

Thumbnail adresses, and website icons are not being deleted when I clear history and cache, how do I delete these?

I am trying to delete the icons that websites use which are located in the user file of appdata/local/mozilla,
and the website adresses that are located at the bottom of the thumbnails when opening a new tab. clearing data deletes the actual thumbnails, however the adresses are still located below where the thumbnails would be. I have tried clearing history with everything checked, and all history selected to be cleared, and also deleted the cache and cookies. what can I do to delete these things? Thanks

If you only restored from backup, restore to factory defaults/new iPod. If you then still have the problem it is likely a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Solution found. By enabling a lockdown feature, we prevented Adobe from trying to muck about getting online. Actually NSA provides recommendations on how to lock down Adobe Reader, google "NSA recommendations for configuring Adobe Reader XI in a Windows Environment". We only used:
HKLM\Software\Policies\Adobe\<product>\<version>\FeatureLockDown\cCloud
bDisableADCFileStore REG_DWORD Set to 1

Hello- I was able to resolve the issue after clicking on the top right hand corner that shows the recent downloads (it has that down arrow). I realized that I had tried downloading the Adobe Flash Player Install Manager about 7 times, but still needed to click on the file and install! So I erased all the duplicates and installed one of the Flash Player Install Managers and it finally worked! Yay!

Try resetting the SMC and the PRAM.
1. SMC

Follow the procedure below:
1. Power down the machine.
2. Locate the following keys on your keyboard in preparation for Step 4:
command–option–P–R
3. Press the ‘power on’ button.
4. Immediately – and before the grey screen appears – hold down ‘command-option-P-R’ all together.
5. Keep them held down until you’ve heard the start-up chime twice. After you release them you should hear it again, and hopefully your Mac will boot up as it should normally.
