I downloaded the latest version but it won't complete installation. It says: Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system. What do I do now?
iTunes stopped working so I uninstalled it. I downloaded the latest version but it won’t complete installation, giving me a message that says: Service ‘Apple Mobile Device’ (Apple Mobile Device’) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system. Can anyone tell me what to do next? Thank you.
I tried your suggestion, and what I get is this message: "Error 1053 the service did not respond to the start of contro request in a timely fasion." Any further suggestions? Thanks

The latest version of iTunes did not install properly on my Windows 7-64bit PC. I am getting the following error message: "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
I have tried the following troubleshooting steps without success:
Restart PC
Uninstall iTunes and attempt to reinstall
Verify that I am signed in as an administrator
Download and save iTunes64Setup file, right-click, and run as Administrator
Disable Norton antivirus software
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!Hi Iss9243,

While downloading the newest iTunes update I received several errors. The latest one being this: "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." These are the steps that I have already taken: un install iTunes (several times), reinstall iTunes (several times), move the .dil files to my desktop (although I have no idea what to do with them now)... I am still getting the same error while trying to download 1. the service error and 2. iTunes failing to open because it isn't properly installed. Can some one PLEASE be so kind as to help me with VERY simple step by step directions. I'm usually more computer savvy than the average user, but I'm feeling computer illiterate at the moment. I've been trying to work though this for 2 days now... sigh. Thank you in advance!

Trying to re-install iTunes and the message "Apple mobile device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." But I don't know what to do? Please can someone help, I'm not the most technologically advanced person.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Hi, I'm trying to re-install the latest iTunes on my Gateway w/ Windows XP. I had to update it a while back to put songs on my brother's iPod, but my computer froze halfway through and nothing has worked right since.
I keep getting the message "Service 'Bonjour Service' (Bonjour Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
I looked through older discussions that told me to go to right click My Computer - Manage - Services and Applications - Services - Find Bonjour and restart it.
Well, the only option that I can click on is Start. When I do, it says "Windows could not restart the Bonjour Service service on Local Computer. Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified."
Where do I go from here? Help would be greatly appreciated, I've been trying to fix this for over a year now with no dice. Also, I cannot do a factory reset (last effort) because it says the administor's account is disabled and I do not have the disc.Sorry if double posting is a no-no here, but I forgot to add that I've already tried disabling Spyware Doctor.
