I downloaded the latest version of iTunes today and now I keep getting an error while trying to open it. I have no clue how to fix it. Can anyone help?

It sounds like you are getting an error message when trying to open iTunes. Depending on the version of your Windows version, I recommend either of these 2 articles to help resolve launch issues.

TS3716 I downloaded the new version of iTunes today and now iTunes won't recognize my iPod. Windows can see it but iTunes can't see it so it won't sync.

I have the same problem and can't seem to figure out what the problem is. I rebuilt my iTunes library and still my 6G nano crahes whenever I load an AAC tune onto it. MP3s and podcasts all work fine, it's just the AACs...
Just *loading* an AAC song will cause the Nano 6G to reboot as soon as it disconnects from Itunes. It will then reboot a few times and then go into recovery mode. :-(

Do you have Sync over wifi enabled for this device?
Click on the device name, Scroll down the summary page to options and the second box is Sync Via Wifi. If you do not want this uncheck it and click apply

I just downloaded the new version of iTunes 10 and now it won't let me drag and drop any files from my computer into my iTunes. It lets me play the song from the folder in my computer and then it opens with iTunes and plays the song all the way through, but then if I try to play it again, it says the file cannot be located. So then I go to locate and go to the folder and all that and select it and nothing happens.

Not sure whether for instance you initially had a Yahoo optimised version of Firefox, and have now overwritten it with an official Mozilla version. Although the Mozilla version should NOT add unwanted features, but the Yahoo version may well do.
If you merely need to find the Yahoo emails page quickly just add it as a bookmark or as a bookmark on the Bookmarks toolbar and make sure that is visible.
Clicking the star icon on the location bar whilst looking at your emails will bookmark the page.

Are you downloading iTunes form an Apple website or somewhere else? If the answer is somewhere else, try downloading it from Apple. Click on iTunes in the black menu bar above and go from there.

Let's try the following procedure first.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:

Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any *Apple Mobile Device Support* entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly? If so, do you get recognition for the iPhone this time around?

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (Although the procedure is for Vista and 7 and you've got XP, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

In the Programs
Select Apple Mobile DeviceStop the service
After the service has stopped, click Start the service.
After the Apple Mobile Device service has started again, do your download again.

This has been really frustrating me today, I downloaded the new version of itunes today and now it seems that my ipod will no longer connect to itunes. when I plug the usb cable into my laptop it recognizes it is there but itunes doesn't detect that it is there.

I want to download the latest version of iTunes from the internet rather than on the Apple software update...will i have to re-enter my account details in the iTunes i downloaded...plz help..!!

It may only ask those details when making a transaction in the iTunes Store.
It has nothing to do with reinstalling the application.
I'm pretty sure about that, as sure as I am that no meteore will fall on my head today.
But don't shoot me if it does.
It will also not ask you to re-authorise the computer, if you're afraid about that.
