I dropped my G4and now no display, Is there any hope?
I purchased my power book in 2003, when times were good, but 2 years ago I dropped it, broke the hinges and even though the screen lights up, there is no display. I love my Apple and I miss it. I took it to a repairman and he said it was hopeless, but he was too quick with his desire to buy it from me that I decided I needed a second opinion, I tried hooking it up to an external monitor and I tried running the hardware check CD and the restore CD but to no avail. I have a little bit of money to spend on repairs but don't want to invest anything if it really is hopeless. I'm clueless about how to go about getting it checked out. Is it really possible that it is damaged beyond repair and if not, about how much should I expect to pay for repairs?
If the fall was not huge, it's most likely the hard drive. The hinges are available on line but they are an absolute b*h to replace.
If its the Aluminium PB - It ain't gonna be worth the time, trouble and money - the HD is burried! (you can buy a good used one for much less than the average repair) - unless you DIY.
First thing to do is see if it will boot from the install discs (did you hold the "c" key on start up?
Try holding the option key on start up it will/should show mountable volumes, if the HD is dead, it won't show OR will show with a cross thru it.
It will have value "as is" to a mac repair person or hobbyist. If you are to be rid of it take the HD out, just in case it is readable!! There is a take apart guide available on line. FREE !
Other than that you have nothing to loose, give it a go at a repair, just make sure you take full antistatic precautions...
If you do decide to sell - I may be interested, mines just died which is why I am here!

Hello i dropped my ipod in the toilet (clean water). Once i took it out of the toilet i pressed the home button and within a second it shut off! :( I quickly dried it with a towel and accidently pressed the top button! D: and put it immediatly into a bag of rice. 3-4 hours passes and i tried to turn it on nothing happened. I honestly tjougjt it would be dry...stupidly! and now its on the rice and has been in there for an hour since the last time i triwd turnong it on. Is there any hope that my ipod will be okay? and if not could it be repaired? How much is it to repair? One more question what will happen to my photos, is there a way i could atleast get my photos?!? Please please please help!!!!!! please!!!
Hey Posada143, You can still try the rice thing, but do not expect much, as roaminggnome has stated. The rice only works if you do it ASAP and leave the iPod off-- do not attempt use, turn on or charge until it is completely dried out. This is probably academic at this point but remember this for the next time: The drying can take 10 days. You put the uncooked rice and iPod in a sealed bag, change the rice every couple of days. This creates a low humidity environment and draws the moisture out of the iPod, but it takes time. Turn your iPod on to earlier, and you run the risk of shorting out, damaging the components inside. Even if done correctly it can spotty. If you do get the iPod to work (and this may require Resetting, Restoring or attempting to place it in DFU recover mode) the first thing you do is make backups, because you never know how long it will continue to work. As for your pictures, if you can't get your iPod to work, you can try data retrieval companies, however; there is no guaranty it will work and it tends to be very expensive. In the future get in the habit of as making backups, because you just don't know. And invest in and use a water tight case. Hope this helps, Good luck. Cheers.

I have my Macbook Air hooked up to a Thunderbolt Display, is there any way to power on the Macbook Air using an Apple USB keyboard plugged into the Thunderbolt display? I would like to be able to keep the Macbook Air in the Archbook dock and not have to open it to power it on?
Thanks for any advise.SadisticIron wrote:

I was trying to Import photos to my computer and was asked to upgrade my Iphone before importing. In restoring my Iphone, it deleted all of my 200 new photos and they are now gone. Is there any way to retrieve them?
You should ALWAYS import all pics ( and anything selse for that matter) before any update.
If you failed to do this, then the pics are likely gone. You can try restoring from backup. -
I dropped my phone down the toilet and before I switched it off I sent a text. I have left it to dry out for the last 48hiurs. Is there any hope for my iPhone 5c?
Probably not. First of all, 48 hours is not enough. 5-7 days is better. Secondly, if you did not turn it off the very instant you retrieved it, it probably did worse damage. Even if it powers on, it's very unlikely it will function 100%.

I updated to IOS 5 and apparently didn't get my apps backed up. So, they are now lost. Is there any way to restore them?
Are they backed up to your computer? If so you can go to the "Apps" tab in the main window of your iPad and resync them there.
OR
On you iPad go to App Store > Updates and the first tab should be something called "Purchased" (if you have already entered you Apple ID) and you can re-download from there. -
HI All
I dropped my phone in water
Is there any chance of getting it going again
I have nothing working at the momentUnfortunately water damage is not covered by any warranty, however, try placing the iPhone in a zip lock bag of dried rice for approximately 5 days, resist the urge to turn to it back on. There is no guarantee and it maybe beyond saving but worth a try. If that doesn't work you could contact Apple for an out of warranty replacement.

I uploaded photos onto my Macbook pro from my iPad 2 and they are not on my computer any longer. They were in the computer and deleted from my iPad. They are now where to be found in the cloud. Is there any chance they can be recovered?
With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see when iPhoto opens?
how did you upload the photos from the iPad to your library?
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

I was downloading photos and accidentally unplugged my phone. I have never backed the phone up now it is prompting me to restore without any opportunity to back up. I have tried shutting down the phone and the computer- but same old message....prompts to restore....any ideas....I don't want to lose my data...
Why would you not be syncing to your computer regularly?
If there is no backup, then you will likely lose everything.
The iphone is designed to be synced regularly. -
what does error (1) mean... not able to restore iPod touch... please help
Usually indicates a hardware failure. Try restoring again, on a different computer if you can. And use Recovery Mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808. If that fails then it is nearly certainly a hardware issue as I said.

HT1688 Is there any hope for my Iphone 4 after being dropped in the toilet on Christmas
After getting my phone out of the toliet and drying it off..it appeared to be ok...three hours later, I tried to use it and it was off. I put it in rice immediately a few days later it hasn't made a difference. Yesterday, I bought a bag that is for cell emeregencies such as this, and this hasn't helped either. I haven't had a phone for four days...is it time to give up and try to find a new one or hope the drying bag helps? I don't want a new phone, I want to keep this one and hope I can revive it. I dont have insurance therefore, I am scared I will need to purchase a new phone.
I doubt that drying is the issue any longer. You can try putting it on a wall charger, let it charge for at least a half hour and then try to Reset it (hold down the power and home buttons, wait for the Apple logo, let go of the buttons) while it is still connected to power. It may take several tries. If it is working let it fully charge.

My Kid dropped the iPad and the display is not working properly now.
My kid dropped the ipad from about 3 ft and now the display is damaged, It is visible though but I can see rainbow colours and not the true ones.
You can try slapping it: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3970501?start=0&tstart=0

Dropped my phone and now my display is white
I dropped my phone (the one and only time!) and now the display is white. I took the battery out, waited a little while and popped it back it. Usually, you have to then turn the phone on and wait for it to boot up, but it just goes back to being a white screen as soon as the battery is back in. I've had this phone for just over 2 weeks and I really want to fix this!
