If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
You may take your device to an Apple retailer for help or you may call Customer Service and arrange to send your device to Apple:
Apple Store Customer Service at 1-800-676-2775 or visit online Help for more information.
To contact product and tech support: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers.
You will find respective repair costs in the appropriate link:

There are third-party firms that do repairs on iDevices, and there are places where you can order parts to DIY if you feel up to the task:
1. iResq or Google for others.

  • Dropped my ipod nano in water and its not working anymore....is it officialy dead?

I'm sure I already know the answer to this, but is it officially dead? I only ask because I have had this happen to me before and I actually had got it to work again! But unfortunally I don't remember what I did to get it to work....so does anyone know what to do to make it work possibly?

Suggest that you check out the website iFixit.

  • So my home button stopped working due to water damage. I put it in the microwave(for real no joke) so the water can evaporate. 2 seconds in and the screen sparked blue and now its not working any suggestions on helping me fix it?

Please help me guys itll be a great help

Hey Peter, I think your missing the big picture. Your iPod is past repair, corrosion, is a real issue with water damage, but your problem took a turn for the worst when you attempted to use a microwave to dry it out. I see you found another post from July 2012, where someone else tried to nuke there iPod, and got the same results you have-- a dead iPod. The blue sparks, burnt smell and still not working all confirms one thing... Your iPod is not repairable. What the water didn't damage the microwave did. By attempting to microwave, you for all intensive purposes hit your iPod with an EMP, (Electro-Magnetic Pulse), in the first split second you overloaded the workings of your iPod and burned it up! There is is no way of known which circuits and components have been damaged and to what extend. You may be able to get a refurbished iPod, but it is unclear that Apple will allow it, because of the type of damage, it's not like this was an accident, you deliberately put it in the microwave in a misguided attempt to dry it out. when the microwave turned on it hit ever chip, diode, capacitor etc. with more power than it was designed to handle, in short; you baked it, burned it up, fried it, call it what you want, but it's not going to work! To attempt to repair is a meaningless gesture, (and probably will cost more than it's worth), chalk this one up as bad ideas 101-- learn from it, move on, and get yourself a new iPod. Hope this helps, Good luck. Cheers.

  • I have an iPhone 4 on contract and its not working correctly , what should I do ?

I have an iPhone 4 on contract , I only have this 5 and a half months and the iPhone is not working correctly and i do not have insurance .. What should I do ??

It sounds like you did not purchase it at the Apple store? That doesn't matter - you can still take it to Apple to troubleshoot it.
You can also try to troubleshoot it with the help of the folks here - if you want to do that, let me know and I'll ask that your post be moved to the iPhone forum where you're more likely to get knowledgeable answers, ok.

  • I am trying to back up my new iphone through my itunes and its not working

I am trying to set up my new iphone, and i need to back it up through itunes since i never backed my old one up with icloud, but once i select the "back up with itunes" on my phone startup, it tells me to connect to itunes, which i do and then my phone syncs, but nothing is transferred to my new phone, and the screen is stuck on saying "connected to itunes"

I'll reload it tonight when I get home...basically, I bought a new iPhone and downloaded some new medical apps. also had to download an update for iTunes into my mac laptop so I could access iCloud (which was NOT on my prior iTunes software)
When I synched my new iPhone with the newly downloaded iTunes, I registered my iphone and tried to "back it up" to iCloud and the message indicating that "the required file was not found or has a permissions error...." popped up.
How do I correct the permissions error, or...am I able to do this somewhere? Or...how do I find the file that is missing?

  • I dropped my iPhone 4 in water and now it won't turn on at all, will i lose all of my data, for example my photos and messages etc? and is there any way you can back the phone up without having it switched on?

If you had previously been backing up to iCloud (or a computer with iTunes), you would possibly have a backup.  That said, if you can't turn the phone on, you cannot create a backup of the device now.  Sorry.

  • HT204150 I dropped my iphone 4 in water and am using an older iPhone as backup.  When I restored my contacts/calendar, etc. Only the calendar updated correctly.  No notes transferred over and my contacts are from a year ago.  How do I get my more recent c

I dropped my iPhone 4 in water and cannot get it to dry out enough to turn back on.  I may have fried the battery.  I am using an old iPhone 3 temporarily but cannot get all of my current info to sync.  My calendar is up to date but none of my notes have transferred over and the contact list is from when I originally used the iPhone 3 last year.  How do I get my iPhone 4 info synced onto the iPhone 3?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't restore an iPhone 3G from an iPhone 4 backup. Until you get a replacement you can access your iCloud data at iCloud.com on a computer.

  • I dropped my iphone 3gs in water and grabbed it immediately out. It gave me a charger is not supported with device screen every minute or two. I powered it off for the night. I havent experienced problems since. Why does it still work?

I dropped my iphone 3gs in water and grabbed it immediately out. It gave me a charger not supported sign every minute or two. I decided to turn it off for the night and the next morning it worked fine and only the bottom sensor was triggered. Why does it still work and how long will it last?

Water in itself will not kill electronic components if you let it dry out.  Your first reaction to turn it off was a good one but you could have waited even longer.
It also depends what's on your water that will stay after the water itself had dried; like salt. Anything that iseither acid or conductor left on the circuit board will reduce the life of the board.  Given said this, no one could state how long your iPhone will work since no one will know for sure where the water had time to infiltrate before you removed your device and no one what's may left there.
Consider yourself lucky.  I don't understand however what you mean by a sensor triggered.

  • I dropped my iphone 4s in water and everything works but the backlight. I have heard rumors that I can take my damaged iPhone into an apple store and trade it in for a new phone and pay the difference. Is this true?

Apple offers an out of warranty or not covered under the warranty "repair" price, which pays for an exchange at a discounted price off the full retail sales price.

  • I dropped my iPhone in the water and the touchscreen stopped working.

I dropped my iPhone in the water and the touchscreen stopped working. After drying it out for a few days I had the LCD replaced, but the touchscreen is still not working. What do I do?

Why don't you ask that question of the person who performed the uncertified service?
