I dropped my iPhone 5s on CARPET and it died?

Guys, this is a sticky situation that myself nor my brother can come to. Today at approximately 1:20 p.m I dropped my iPhone 5s as it was sitting on my lap. With my headphones blasting, my iPhone diligently fell out of my lap and instantly, my music stopped. At first I thought it got unplugged, soon to find out that instead the iPhone itself just gave up and died. Now let's be clear about this, I have a pretty protective case made by Spigen. Very protective on all corners and such. It also has a tempered glass screen protector over it.
It dropped on carpet. I know right? I'm just as freakin shocked at this. I don't know how it landed on the carpet but after landing, the iPhone has failed to operate. Now I've tried to fix this by holding down the home button and power button with no crappin luck. I honestly don't know what to do anymore. It's a 5s and I'm not sure if it's still under warranty or not since we got it from Att with no insurance. I'm in Wyoming so a 4 hour drive to Denver is the closest Genius Bar which is unfortunate. Has anyone ever encountered this and if so how'd you fix it?
Oh and also when I plugged it into my computer, the phone is not being read or found. I am worried about paying for a replacement for such a stupid drop on CARPET for gods sake.
Please help folks :(.

Good job with trying the two-button reset, that would have been my first advice for you.  Next, I suggest you take the reset/update a step further.  This step may risk losing the data on your phone, but since it's not working already, there may be no other solution.
On your computer, make sure you have internet acces and the latest version of iTunes installed.
Launch iTunes and connect the iPhone
Press and hold both sleep/wake and home buttons
After ten seconds, only release the sleep/wake button.
If you were successful, the iPhone screen should stay dark and the computer should display a popup.
If you see a message saying "iTunes has detected a device in recovery mode," then continue by clicking yes to each subsequent popup.
If the iPhone displays the silver Apple logo start over with step three of these instructions.

  • I dropped my iPhone 4 in water and now it won't turn on at all, will i lose all of my data, for example my photos and messages etc? and is there any way you can back the phone up without having it switched on?

If you had previously been backing up to iCloud (or a computer with iTunes), you would possibly have a backup.  That said, if you can't turn the phone on, you cannot create a backup of the device now.  Sorry.

  • HT204150 I dropped my iphone 4 in water and am using an older iPhone as backup.  When I restored my contacts/calendar, etc. Only the calendar updated correctly.  No notes transferred over and my contacts are from a year ago.  How do I get my more recent c

I dropped my iPhone 4 in water and cannot get it to dry out enough to turn back on.  I may have fried the battery.  I am using an old iPhone 3 temporarily but cannot get all of my current info to sync.  My calendar is up to date but none of my notes have transferred over and the contact list is from when I originally used the iPhone 3 last year.  How do I get my iPhone 4 info synced onto the iPhone 3?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't restore an iPhone 3G from an iPhone 4 backup. Until you get a replacement you can access your iCloud data at iCloud.com on a computer.

  • I dropped my iphone 3gs in water and grabbed it immediately out. It gave me a charger is not supported with device screen every minute or two. I powered it off for the night. I havent experienced problems since. Why does it still work?

I dropped my iphone 3gs in water and grabbed it immediately out. It gave me a charger not supported sign every minute or two. I decided to turn it off for the night and the next morning it worked fine and only the bottom sensor was triggered. Why does it still work and how long will it last?

Water in itself will not kill electronic components if you let it dry out.  Your first reaction to turn it off was a good one but you could have waited even longer.
It also depends what's on your water that will stay after the water itself had dried; like salt. Anything that iseither acid or conductor left on the circuit board will reduce the life of the board.  Given said this, no one could state how long your iPhone will work since no one will know for sure where the water had time to infiltrate before you removed your device and no one what's may left there.
Consider yourself lucky.  I don't understand however what you mean by a sensor triggered.

Could anyone help me with a solution?
Should I change the display or is it a minor damage??
    Thanks for your support

sounds like you broke the display when you dropped it.  There's nothing we users here can do for you.
Since the iPhone warranty does not cover accidental damage, you will have to pay to have your phone repaired or replaced.  You can bring it into Apple for an out of warranty exchange in the country of purchase, or you can find a 3rd party iPhone repair store in your area.

  • I dropped my iphone 4s in water and everything works but the backlight. I have heard rumors that I can take my damaged iPhone into an apple store and trade it in for a new phone and pay the difference. Is this true?

Apple offers an out of warranty or not covered under the warranty "repair" price, which pays for an exchange at a discounted price off the full retail sales price.

Take it in for repair or exchange. Be prepared to write a pretty big check unless you bought AppleCare+.
