I dropped my iphone in water!!!!

about 3ft. It is now buzzing rappidly and loudly and when its plugged in it turns on and says activation required. I tried to plug it into itunes to activate it but once i remove the chrager it dosent work help!

If you dropped it in water then plugging it in is a very bad idea.  You need to take it to an Apple genius bar soon and have the techs determine what to do...most likely a replacement will be necessary.

I suggested contacting Compub in Nassau St as the info is priceless and worth the trouble of trying to regain?
Any thoughts? The poor lady is very distress

If she has backed up her iPhone she can replace that iPhone and set up the new iPhone from her backup.
You can put the iPhone that went into water into a plastic baggie with either new silica gel packets (preferred) or raw rice and let it sit for  4 - 5 days. After that time remove the phone and connect it to power for at least a half hour. While it is still connected to power reset it by holding down the power and hold button, wait for the Apple logo then let go of the buttons. Might take several tries. If it revives immediately back it up.

  • HT5622 A month ago I dropped my iPhone in water and it works fine except for the signal  it always says "searching". Can you help with this problem?

About a Month ago I dropped we went swimming and I dropped my iPhone in water and it works fine except at the top for the signal it says searching. Can you please help me with this problem?

It's very likely that the phone is permanently damaged - water corrodes the very fine copper strips which form the circuitry very quickly - but only a service engineer can tell you what its condition is and whether it can be restored to health. If possible take it to an Apple Store (make an appointment) for a free assessment. Don't be surprised if you are told you will have to replace it.

  • I dropped my iphone in water and the phone will not turn back on or charge...

I dropped my iPhone in water and the phone will not turn back on or charge... I know its probably fried and I need it repaired but is there any possible way I would be able to save the information that was on it. Pictures or videos? Most of my pictures were saved on my i Cloud, but some information had not been uploaded like my videos.
Does apple provide any sort of recovery services?
    Thanks

    Hi jesusdeloera,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
If your iPhone was being backed up to the iCloud or iTunes, you will be able to restore from that backup and recover the data that was on the device at the time of backup once you have your iPhone repaired. Please review the attached information about iCloud and iTunes backups.

  • What do i do if i dropped my iphone into water?, What do i do if i dropped my iphone into water?

I dropped my iphone into water yesterday and i left it sitting in rice all night and it wont turn on. Any other ideas or should i just leave it for a little while longer?

Leave it there for at least 3 or 4 more days. You may have to spring for an out of warranty replacement, though, in the long run.

  • HT201401 what if i dropped my iphone in water

what if i dropped my iphone in water?

Chesterapple-the day before last Christmas, I dunked my 4 into a full glass of Coke. :/ I popped it out immediately, but all ports had gotten submerged. Hoping for best, but expecting the worst, because I ruined a Touch this way-I went into immediate damage control. Powered off the phone, dried with a soft towel as much as I could, then wiped the sticky Coke off. I even put the hair dryer to it's 'butt port'. Then, within minutes-I had it submerged in a baggie of white rice AND about 5-6 of those silica gel little packets that come in shoe boxes? You know what I'm referring to? Luckily, I keep all my shoes in their original box, lol. The silica draws water out of things. So, I put the phone, now covered over it's head with rice & silica packs-in a dark cabinet, sitting on it's back, completely submerged.
My contract was up anyhow, and the 26th, Best Buy offered upgrades for 5C's for free....so, yeah, went for that! Lol. I still checked in on my 4 about a week later...it was not well, turned on, but downhill from there, so I powered it off, and gave it up for dead. I was upset because I was going to use it just for an iPod. But, I still set it back up in the rice cocoon..why not?
About mid-Feb, I noticed it again in the cabinet & decided to see if it ever healed. It was half sticky and tons dusty with rice, plus some grains had gotten caught up in the butt port. So, cleaned it up again, gently got rice out. Held my breath, powered......and it came on! Not only that-it was PERFECTLY FINE. All my settings/wallpapers/contacts/apps/msgs, everything. Fine. Expected it to wack out any minute....left it on a few days to see. But it was fine, good as new! I deleted all off it, and now use it as an iPod, perfectly. Oh, one issue-water damage light came on and apparently will never leave. No biggie, since I'm keeping it. So, there's another miraculous back from the dead, but certainly don't expect it-not the norm. But, possible!

  • I just dropped my iphone in water by accident, suggestions?

So i dropped my iphone on water, i dried it off with my towel as soon as possible. Before i did any research i was dumb so what i did was turned on my phone, everything seemed to be working well, but the sound was worse, there was sound but not alot, about 5 minutes later the sound got a better, not 100 percent recovered but it was better. Now that i did the research on how the save the iphone i turned it off and put it in rice and now its been sitting there for a 15 minutes. Was that the sound got a bit better when the 5 minutes flew by a good sign that the sound can return to normal? What you think is going to happen to my phone in general?

When any electronic / mechanical etc device  is wet and is turned on in most cases it will be fried [dead]. Unfortunately at this point and time you have two choices.
1 Call Apple and pay the accidental damage price for a replacement [If you do not have APP+]
2 Go purhcase a new phone
    Sorry bout that though.

  • Dropped my iphone in water

Dropped my phone in water now it displays that i cannot make or recieve calls will this correct itself once dried? Also I notice the calendar went back to 1969
not sure what that is all about unless that is because of the water damage as well

Do NOT turn it on until it has dried out.  You can try the bag of rice trick (web search 'iphone water rice')  Be prepared for having to pay for an out of warranty replacement of the phone.

  • Dropped my iphone in water, it goes on, but shows the apple logo with text and goes out again, what to do?

So, I dropped my iphone into a river and picked it up very quickly, turned it out and put it in rice, after some hours I saw it was on with a blueish screen so I turned it off again and put it back in the rice, then after 6 hours in total from when it fell in the water I charge it and see the start up apple logo but then small text appears in the upper corner and it goes out again, this happened now twice, what is this and what to do?

Try the method of putting it in a bowl of rice. If the issue remains then you would need a replacement.
If you have AppleCare+ then you could get it replaced with one of your 2 incidents.
If you do not have ApplCare+ you would get a replacement as an Out of Warranty Service due to accidental damage. Now based on your country/region you could either get a replacement through postage or at an Apple Retail Store. Follow the link below for a pricing:
    http://www.apple.com/support/service/
    - select iphone
    - select your country
    - select warranty and service pricing
Choose the last option and it will give you a price based on your country and iPhone. Remember the cost shown includes a postage fee so look below the prices and how much the postage fee is as this would not be included in the cost if the replacement was done at a store.
    Hope this helps

  • I dropped my iPhone in water for about 30 seconds. The sounds and everything works fine, and I'm getting all text and email notifications however the screen is black. Also, I can see water that is stuck in the camera. I have the phone in a bag of rice

Dropped my phone in water. Sound and vibrations are working but screen won't turn on. I can see a little water in the camera. I currently have the phone in a bag of rice. HELP! :)

Leave it in the rice for 6 or 7 days changing rice even couple of days.
If after that it still doesn't work take it to Apple and purchase an out of warranty rteplacement for it.

  • HT204266 What should I do if I dropped my iPhone in water?

I dropped my iPhone 4 in the toliet. Yes..I know...it sounds pretty lame. Anyway, I took it out right away and it still turns on and seems to work fine. I just want to make sure it will be okay.

I thought I would post some replies to the 'wet, nonworking iphone' discussions to encourage others to wait a bit and to dry out their phones for a longer period of time. Last Wed. afternoon I got my iphone wet and thought it was fine because it still worked, however, a couple hours later it was dead.  I made the mistake of recharging then and also started trying to restore, but got nothing but hardware start up error messages on the phone and the dreaded 4013 or 4005 in iTunes.  I tried several times a day to restore with the same result.  In between, I put the phone in a bag of rice.  I think the advice elsewhere to power down and dry thoroughly is the best advice and I did not follow it because I already thought I was doomed.
I was going to go to Apple/ATT today - Monday - to get a new phone, but we had another snow dump so I'm housebound.  With nothing to lose, I pulled the phone out of the rice this morning and it restored!  I've lost a bunch of pix and some contacts that were not backed up, but I've not lost months of of spending on my 2 yr. contract without having a working phone.
So, if your phone gets wet, don't give up right away.  It took almost 6 days for my phone to dry out.
Good luck to anyone else who has this problem.

  • I dropped my iphone in water but it still works

i dropped my iphone 4i nthe toilet but quickly grabbed it and dryed it off..actually i was on the phone when it happend and kept the conversation going only thing is i can only use the speaker....the phone never turned off and everything works fine except the headset. I blow dryed it and now its sitting in rice any suggestions?

Leaving it in the rice, undisturbed, for a week, might help.  It won't hurt it.  I know of two friends who did the same thing as you!   One was successful with the rice and a gentle heat (maybe near a heat register for you), and the other had limited success - the phone worked for a few months after the rice etc., but then started giving trouble so had to be replaced.
    Good luck.

  • Has anyone ever dropped an iphone in water and its worked again when its dried out?

I dropped my iphone down the loo! Will it work again when it has dried out?

Mine took a swim in a pool. Did the rice thing as described by Wjosten above. Got the phone back up and running but lost some pixels on the screen.
Just know, there is a moisture sensor inside the phone. If you go to the Apple store and they run a diagnostic, the phone will report back that it's gotten wet, thus nullifying your warranty. Doesn't take much for that Sensor to be activated. A good, sweaty workout at the gym gets it's going... Oh, that's if you workout with your phone in your bra, but that's a story for another time. TMI?

  • Is it possible to have an app icon on the home screen without it actually being downloaded to the device's memory?

The reason for wanting to do this, is to free up memory on my iPhone. I would like to delete apps that i don't use very often, but still have them on my home screen so that they don't get lost and forgotten about in my long list of 'purchased apps'..
