I dropped my Ipod in the toilet and now it's not turning on..

Does anybody know if apple covers water damage on Ipods? I've tried looking it up and I can't find anything on it, I have a limited warranty that is going to ruin out in Jan. 2008 Someone please help??

Trying to power it on may have been the stupidest thing if it wasn't completely dry on the inside... which you're unlikely to know. You have to let it dry someplace warm and bright for a few days. Seriously, keep it away from dampness or darkness. Sit it on a night stand with a night light, for instance. When you're sure it's completely and thoroughly dry, charge it up and try it again and I'm pretty sure it'll be up and running. It might be a little trippy at first and you may have to reset it a couple times, but I don't think it'll be fried if it's totally dry. Good luck!

Put in in a bag of dry rice for a few days and see if that drys it out. Don't be surprised if it doesn't. You may need to take it to an Apple Store. They will offer you a replacement at a reduced price
    Hope that helps

Turn it off and put it in a bag of rice for 5-7 days.  You may get lucky.

  • I dropped my ipod a short distance and now it won't turn on

I dropped my ipod 4th gen a short distance in a protective case and it immediately turned off.  When I turned it back on, the apple sign was blinking.  I tried to restore it and that didn't work.  Is there anything else I can do?

Just get it serviced.  Thats about your only option.  Sounds like that 'short distance' knocked something loose inside.

  • Drop my iphone in the toilet and now is in recovery mode, if i restore will i lose my pictures?

    i need help

Don't turn a water soaked electronic device on.  Pack it immediately in rice and wait until it is completely dry.  Even if it works initially components may corrode and eventually fail.  There are "Bags" you can buy to restore a water soaked cell phone (one time bags, or multi-use bags).  If you don't have one of these bags, then rice is the best thing I know of.  Obviously if you can get the phone to your service provider or an Apple Store that would be your best solution.

  • Update forced me to restore my iPod touch 4th gen. and now it will not turn on.

After putting new music on my iPod touche 4th gen. I attempted to update the software. When I did I got a message that told me y iPod was in "Recovery Mode" and needed to be restored. So I clicked "Restore" and waited while iTunes prepared to Restore my iPod. When it had finished my iPod went black and I could no longer do anything with it.

I dropped my mouse on the floor and now it does not work.

Try reinstalling the batteries, maybe they got dislodged. Other than that buy a new mouse, yours is broken.

  • I dropped my ipod in the toilet, I haven't fixed it for months. I didn't know you could put it in rice, or to not open it right away. Is it too late to fix it, or a place? The ipod is really important to me, it has been with me forever.

I dropped my ipod in the toilet, I haven't fixed it for months. I didn't know you could put it in rice, or to not open it right away. Is it too late to fix it, or is there a place I could bring it to? I don't want to get a new one. The ipod is really important to me, it has been with me forever, and there is important stuff on it.

There are companies that specialize in data retrieval but it's costly (probably cheaper to buy a new iPod) and more than likely as Allan said, your circuits are probably damaged beyond all hope of retrieving anything. It's worth calling Apple you maybe able to get a discount or a refurbished iPod. Can't hurt to ask, Good luck. (And in the future... no texting in the john.) Sorry, couldn't resist it.

  • I dropped my ipod down the toilet, but it doesnt work off charge.

  • Dropped my ipod down the toilet! it wont turn on but it charges...

I dropped my ipod down the toilet about a week ago, and put it in a bag of rice for a few days straight away. I put my ipod on charge when i took it out, because it turned off when it was in the toilet and my lock button doesnt work so that is the only way it would turn on. it didn't turn on, but it still charges, as i can feel it overheating. any help on how to turn it back on? Will it ever come back on? Thanks.

If not dry then dry in a sealed container of desiccant like uncooked rice and periodically change the rice.
Do not charge or use until dry. Your iPod may be permenently damaged by trying to use it when still wet.
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4GS. They do not fix yours.

Should have waited at least 4 more days.

I dropped my phone down the toilet and before I switched it off I sent a text. I have left it to dry out for the last 48hiurs. Is there any hope for my iPhone 5c?

Probably not. First of all, 48 hours is not enough. 5-7 days is better. Secondly, if you did not turn it off the very instant you retrieved it, it probably did worse damage. Even if it powers on, it's very unlikely it will function 100%.
