I dropped my iPod, now it won't get out of recovery mode!

I dropped my iPod, now it won't get out of recovery mode! If i don't connect it to the mac, it has the msg in 4 languages saying "connect to your computer. Use iTunes to restore". When i connect it to mac, and itunes is open, it says ipod needs to be restored, so i press the restore button, the progress bar starts moving but never finishes, like it's frozen.
Can anyone help

guess there's no one that can help.

My Ipod gen 5 won't come out of recovery mode. When I plug it into the computer, the ipod device won't show up on itunes and I have tried closing it, and it still wont show up on Itunes or get out of recovery mode! Please help me!!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Jail-broken iPhone 4S won't come out of recovery mode after attempted ios 7 update

So I've had my jail-broken iPhone for a while and decided to go for the ios 7. After deleting 200 songs, 400 pictures & videos, and countless apps and other useless data to get the necessary free space to upgrade, I was finally able to download it. It went into recovery mode (showed the iTunes logo and the USB cord) shortly afterward. I plugged in my iPhone to my laptop, iTunes came up, but as I tried to restore the phone to upgrade to the ios 7, an error appeared saying the "iPhone software update server could not be contacted or is temporary unavailable". I've tried a LOT of stuff, from simply restarting my laptop to trying DFU mode like 200 times, and it keeps saying the same thing. Now I'm basically phoneless because it won't come out of recovery mode.
Does this have anything to do with it being jailbroken and not backed up prior to attempting to upgrade? Please help!

Yes, it is directly related to j'breaking it.  And as such, you will get no further support from Apple and we cannot help you either.  Use an internet search to try to find a solution elsewhere.

  • Updated my Ipad and now it wont get out of recovery mode.

I have an Ipad 4 and I decided to download the latest update for it.
The download is fine until i pick it up a half hour later and it shows me the recovery mode image. Basically telling me to connect to my computer.
I go to my computer and plug it in, but then my itunes says that in order to connect I have to restore my Ipad.
I very rarely connect my ipad to my computer, and since the last sync I have reinstalled Windows 7, so its essentially a new computer and doesnt recognize my ipad.
Doesnt restore reset my ipad? I have all of my notes from my classes this symester. I cant restore!
No matter what I have done the ipad wont get out of recovery mode.
    So please I need help!!
How do I get out of recovery mode?
If I cant, then dose restore wipe my files? (I dont have a backup, i rarely use my computer now, i just use my ipad)

A "Restore" WILL erase your files but you can save them.  Read closely before you start.
Connect via cable to the computer that you intend to use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.

    Hey erinoneill24,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Sounds like you can't update your device. You don't mention an error that it gives you. Take a look at both of these articles to troubleshoot.

If you started your device in recovery mode by mistake, restart it to exit recovery mode. Or you can just wait—after 15 minutes the device will exit recovery mode by itself.

My iPad is in recovery mode, and it won't get out of it even its connected to itunes and I've clicked restore. Help to get out of it please. Thanks. (And I am upgrading it to ios 6 on itunes)

    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • Ipod classic says it has been restored by itunes but will not get out of recovery mode

Hello, about a week ago my ipod classic 120gb shut off unexpectedly and gave me the big red X, telling me to restore. I connected it to itunes (on a mac) and attempted to restore, but it kept on giving me error message 1439. I kind of gave up, but then randomely today when i tried to restore it, it gave me the affirmative that the ipod was restored to factory settings and would restart. however, when it restarted, it was still in disk mode, and the message on my computer was that it has detected an ipod in recovery mode that needs to be restored! i then restored it again, and again it gave me the message that it was successfully restored, however when I restored it again it told me that it was in recovery mode and needed to be restored again. anyone know how i can get it out of disk mode so that when it finally restores on itunes it can restart in normal mode?

    Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

I have tryed to update my iphone from 5.1.1 to 6.1 and i got error 6, now it's stuck in recovery mode and i can't restore it cause i am having error 21. Can anyone help me please?

Error 21 can be a very bad hardware error, but it can also be due to faulty battery. If there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation or set up Service and take or send to Apple for resolution.

  • Iphone won't come out of recovery mode? (after 6 hours of wating)

Okay, a few days ago my Iphone froze. Then It turned off and turned back on, and it has had that screen that has the Itunes Symbol and a USB cable (the screen notifying the user that the Iphone has to be connected to itunes). So I connected my Iphone to my computer, and it told me I had to recover or restore my Iphone (which I am 100% okay with, there was nothing too important on it.).....So I clicked "restore"...it began the recovery process, like "extracting software" and stuff, and then it says "wating for Iphone"....and it said "wating for iphone" for 6 hours and didn't stop until I disconnected it.
I didn't get any error message or anything while it was connected. Can someone please tell me how to get it out of this or how to get it to actually recover?
If It can't be fixed, do I have to buy a new Iphone? (I've had this one for about 3 months)

    Worry not,
You would not have to buy a new iPhone as it is covered under warranty for 1 year and you have had yours for 3 months. I would call 1-800-myiPhone and discuss sending it in for repairs unless you live near a Apple store then make an appointment and head on in
    Hope this helps

  • My iphone won't come out of recovery mode or restore

My phone started updating and i turned it off because i didn't want it to update.  Then when i turned it back on i never had any service and it told me that i couldn't use my phone until i updated it so i plugged it into my computer to update it.  Then it said that i had to restore my phone in order to be able to update it. Ever since I put it in recovery mode, it hasnt come out of it and i can't use my phone at all.  Its been six hours since i started.

Did you use the recovery mode instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 and that did not work?
If that will not work, you can use DFU mode, but the timing of the actions is critical:
Power down the iPhone, start iTunes on the computer, connect the USB end of the cable to the computer.
Press and hold the power button on the iPhone while attaching the other end of the cable, and continue to hold the power button for three seconds.  Then, while still holding the power button press and hold the home button.  Continue holding both buttons for ten seconds, then release the power button and continue to hold the home button for an additional twenty seconds.  Release the home button and you should be able to restore.
