Put in in a bag of dry rice for a few days and see if that drys it out. Don't be surprised if it doesn't. You may need to take it to an Apple Store. They will offer you a replacement at a reduced price
    Hope that helps

  • HT4061 Hi, I dropped my phone down the toilet this morning. I took out my SIM so it would do. I put my phone into a bag of rice for about three hours. I tried rebooting it. My phone still isn't turning on-what shall I do?

    This is URGENT-please reply.
I dropped my phone down the toilet this morning. I took the SIM out straight away so it would not get damaged. I put my phone in a bag of rice for almost four hours. I tried to reboot my phone back to it's factory settings like it said on the internet but my phone doesn't connect to Itunes at all. My phone won't turn on. What shall I do?

It would need to be rice for around 7 days ,however trying to turn on has probably fried it so try around 7 days and then when it still doesn't work either exchange for a refurbished iPhone 4 or use the money to get a new one.An iPhone 4 is $149 in US
ps the sim is not likely to be damaged water conducts electricity across all the wrong circuits frying the iPhone

  • Dropped my phone in the toilet.. HELP PLEASE

Recently.. Maybe I couple days ago I dropped my phone in the toilet and dug it out about 10-18 seconds later. I heard after it is dropped in the toilet/water, you are not to power it on and off but I did because I wasn't aware. When I first tried turning it on it lit up for about 2 seconds maybe even less. Then later it kind of lit on and off, but eventually died off. (Stupid of me.)  After I got home from school which was about three hours later, I immediately placed my phone in a bag of uncooked rice. After about 18 hours I tried turning it on, and of course everthing was working except for the screen (Sounds and everything was working fine. I could hear the the keypad clicking, etc.).. Assuming the screen is fried. :\ Honestly, my last choice would be to get a new phone because I'm so attached to my iPhone. But if that's my only choice, then I'll get a new phone. Now, ny question is- If everything on my phone is working fine EXCEPT for the screen which is black but the touch and everything is working, can I just get the LCD/screen (If that's what it's called) replace/fixed? Thank you for your time. I'm dying without a phone, I feel lost. :\

Apple does not repair iDevices. You can get a replacement out-of-warranty.

  • Dropped my phone in the toilet?

Okay so im at school and i dropped my phone in the toilet. I dried it off and took apart the whole phone, battery, sim card, stylus etc. i had it wrapped in tissues as i dont have any rice. now that i turned it on its showing me the android sign and it says "downloading" and the top left hand corner it says factory mode high speed do you know what it is doing?

The rice thing takes days not minutes or even hours. You should turn the phone back off, pull the battery and put it in rice for 7-10 days when you get home.
Hope you have not caused further damage before the phone was dried sufficiently.

  • I dropped my phone down the toilet and before I switched it off I sent a text. I have left it to dry out for the last 48hiurs. Is there any hope for my iPhone 5c?

I dropped my phone down the toilet and before I switched it off I sent a text. I have left it to dry out for the last 48hiurs. Is there any hope for my iPhone 5c?

Probably not. First of all, 48 hours is not enough. 5-7 days is better. Secondly, if you did not turn it off the very instant you retrieved it, it probably did worse damage. Even if it powers on, it's very unlikely it will function 100%.

  • I dropped my phone down the toilet 2 days ago, is there any way of saving it?

I dropped my phone down the toilet and immediately took it out, dried it off and put it in rice overnight. I did try to turn it on (i know i shouldn't have) and it did however the screen was very flickery and could tell there was still water in it so I left it in the rice and haven't taken it out since. I've tried to turn it on as I believe all the water is gone but it won't turn on. I've tried putting it on charge and nothing. It's still in the rice, is there any way at all it will turn on or is it completely dead?
Also, there is no home button, I've been using assistive touch.

There's an almost 100% chance you ruined your iPhone. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

After taking a dip in my vest pocket in the washing machine for about 10 minutes, my nearly new 5S spent 5 days in rice and silica gel packets.   It definitely dried out, but there is damage to either the battery or the circuit board because it turns on, and I continuously get a blue screen and it reboots every five minutes for a half hour, and then miraculously, it stays on and works perfectly.  But I wound up having to fork over $700 for a new 6+. because I couldn't stand the rebooting any longer.   I had no insurance, but I do now, Apple insurance, not carrier ins.

  • Can I take my SIM Card out of my 3GS and insert it in another 3GS?   My daughter dropped my phone in the toilet tonight.   Can I take my SIM card that I've removed and simply put it in another 3GS phone (a relative's old phone) and it work?

My 4 year old daughter dropped my 3GS in the toilet tonight.  Otterboxes are not waterproof in case you were wondering. : /
While my turned off phone is buried in a bag of rice, is it possible that I can take the now removed SIM card and put it in another 3GS for the interim?  I have an other 3GS (my mom's old one that we use as an iTouch for the kids) on hand that is attached to my apple ID.
If this is possible, is it as simple as taking out the SIM card in my mom's old phone and replacing it with mine?   And does this mess anything up when / if I'm able to salvage my toilet phone?   Can I take the SIM card and simply put it back in my phone after having used it in the other one?
    Thanks.

Put the SIM in the other phone and Restore it from Backup in iTunes. If the old one revives reverse the process.

Turn it off and put it in a bag of rice for 5-7 days.  You may get lucky.

  • What should I do if I drop my phone in the toilet?

What should I do if  I drop my iphone 3gs into the toilet?

    If?  have you drop it?
if you droped it, look at the following:
    Disconnect Power Immediately
The first and most critical step is to remove your wet cell phone's battery and SIM card as soon as possible. Do not attempt to power up the phone to see if it works, as this can damage the circuits. Set the battery aside and save the SIM card in order to retain critical information in case you need to get a new phone after all.
    Dry Thoroughly and Quickly
The cell phone should be dried as quickly and thoroughly as possible to avoid water damage. Compressed air or a wet/dry vacuum are ideal for removing water. Avoid any type of heat, such as a blow dryer, heat lamp or direct sunlight, which can warp or melt delicate electronic components and connectors. After removing as much water as possible, submerge the phone in a desiccant, such as dry rice, to remove any remaining traces of water. Silica gel packets are another desiccant option. Leave overnight.
    Test the Phone
After the phone has dried thoroughly, replace the battery and turn on the phone. If the phone still doesn't work, it could be that the battery was damaged. You might want to try a replacement battery before replacing the entire phone. You could also have the phone looked at by a professional, depending on what is most cost-effective for you.
    Warnings
Excessive heat may damage a cell phone; never use hair dryers, heat lamps, microwave or conventional ovens or direct sunlight to dry a wet cell phone.
If a cell phone has been submerged in salt water, rinse with fresh water after removing the battery and before the drying process to remove as much salt as possible.
    Keeping Your Phone Dry
Following are some of the most common water hazards for cell phones and ways to avoid them.
    - Toilet: If you are in the bathroom be sure your phone is secure, particularly if you tend to carry it in your pants pocket.
    - Washing machine: Check all pockets thoroughly before doing laundry.
    - Bathtub: It is best not to use your cell phone while in the bathtub.
    - Kitchen sink: Keep cell phone free and clear of kitchen sink while doing dishes.
    - Rain: Make sure cell phone is secure in a pocket or purse before going out into the rain. Do not use cell phone during a heavy rain unless you are under shelter.
The first and most critical step is to remove your wet cell phone's battery and SIM card as soon as possible. Do not attempt to power up the phone to see if it works, as this can damage the circuits. Set the battery aside and save the SIM card in order to retain critical information in case you need to get a new phone after all.

  • If i dropped my phone in the toilet

What should i do? And if i go in to get a replacement phone how will they activate the new phone if i don't have my old phone?

You don't necessarily have to have the old device, I don't believe, if you tell the insurance company you dont have it. Same way if someone files a claim because of lost/stolen. But if you dropped it in the toilet... wouldn't you have it? If you do, then you will have to send the insurance company back the old phone.
If you have insurance on the phone, then call Asurion. You will have to pay some sort of deductible and they send you the replacement device. When you recieve it then just activate the new phone. I have done an insurance claim before on one of my lines because the screen got cracked. They were pretty quick in sending it to me. Overnight I believe.
    Hope this helps. Good luck!

  • Dropped my phone in the toilet, screen won't come on and LED is staying constantly on.

Yesterday, my phone fell out of my back pocket into the toilet. I quickly picked it up, and wiped it off then tried to shake all the water out. A few minutes later, the LED flash light came on, but the screen (which was already cracked before i dropped it, as was the back of the phone) stayed black and wouldnt turn on. I left it sitting on my dresser, and a couple hours later the light went off. A few hours after that, i put it in a bowl of rice. this morning i took it out, but the screen still wouldnt turn on. I plugged it up to my computer (which didnt recognize it was there) and after about 15 minutes the light came back on, but the screen still wouldnt turn on. I put it back in the bowl of rice.
Is there any hope it might turn back on?

i have done the same how ever mine is basically new buuuut i don't have any rice soo just wrapped mine in a towle and put it on my heater .... that wont damage it ...right?
