I erased my "hand me down" iPod

I received a hand me down ipod, i was "so" excited to have one that i deleted all 1200 songs that my sis had stored on her iPod. Is There anyway to retreive them?

Not without the use of some data recovery software of the type mentioned in this post.

Does your "sis" still have these songs on her computer?

  • Received hand-me-down Ipod classic.   Can I put my own music on there without erasing photos?

I received an 80 gigabyte iPod Classic from my niece. It's got lots of family photos on it that I'd like to keep on it. She doesn't even know if she has some of these pictures any longer, this might be the only place they're still at. Is there anyway I can update the iPod with my own music without erasing/deleting the pictures? Or do I have to do a complete wipe of the whole iPod to be able to use it on my account?
Please tell me there's some way to do this.

My niece no longer has the computer and,  to top that off, she's gone a tad bit psycho and has decided no one in the family can see her kids unless they pay her to see them.  I'm on Social Security Disability.  I can barely afford to pay my bills some months.  It's been half a year.  She's not changing her mind.  So these are all the photos I have left of them to remember them by.
I'm not willing to lose them so I guess I can't use the ipod.
This needs to be something Apple should look into.  What happens if someone dies?  I can understand not transferring songs because of copyrights and profits to musicians,  but family photos?  If a family member dies,  all the family then has is a very expensive, tiny electronic photo album.

  • Hand me down iPod

I searched but didn't find this listed question listed...I bought a 60 gig iPod and am giving my wife my old 30 gig one. is it better to delete the music on the old iPod that she doesn't like or is it better to delete it all and start over?
    Intel iMac

Have her create her own playlist called Wife’s Music (or whatever) and drag all her music into the playlist. Then open iTunes prefs -> iPod and select Auto update only selected playlists.
To make is a bit easier to manage, also create a Smart playlist called “Not wifes music“ (or whatever).
    Make it Match Rule;
    Playlist is not Wifes Music.
Then click on this and it will show only music she does not have. She can simply drag the songs she wants onto her own playlist.
Makes it a bit easier to sort thru and see what she wants but does not have.

  • Hand-me-down iPods

Hey, I have a shuffle right now with the lower amount of storage space on it. It's named and has all my songs on it. I want to upgrade to the shuffle with more memory on it. Is it possible to give my current shuffle to someone else and they would be able to rename it and get rid of all the songs on there? How much trouble would this be?

    Hello, Diane.
It shouldn't be any trouble at all. If you're giving it to someone who'll be using it with a different copy of iTunes, that'll all happen when the shuffle is installed/synced up.
    Good luck

    Hi lindaasw,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Do you have the latest version of iTunes for Windows installed?  I would turn on the sidebar and the menu bar just to make sure you are seeing everything.  If the iPhone is still not recognized in iTunes, follow these troubleshooting steps:

I am a first-time iPad owner/user. I bought a relative's original iPad. I want to leave the apps on it and add my own pdfs to read. My itunes account is really for my iPod. iTunes message says that if I "Sync" the iPad will be erase, and become like my iPods. If I make a new iTunes account, would the apps be erased when I tried to use it?
How can I just get my files onto this iPad, and still have the apps that my relative left there for me?
    Thank you.

iPads sync to 1 computer only.
All media and apps are tied to the Apple ID that purchased them.
Without your relatives ID and password, you cannot update any of the Apps.
I am pretty certain he is also violating Apples terms of service by giving you the apps.

  • My hand me down MPC keeps repeating the start up chime and nothing comes on and no buttons have any effect. Any ideas?

MY "hand me down" Mac Book Pro has decided that it will not boot up. I just get the first chime repeating over and over and none of the keys seem to have any effect at all. I cannot get into safe mode etc. My nearest Apple S tore is about 40 miles away. Any ideas out there?

    Alanmeats,
Do you know the year of production (e.g., "15-inch Late 2011")?
    Never mind - it looks as if it's a mid-late 15" 2009.
It's sounds as if your problem is something mechanical - a bad drive, something, that will simply not allow the system to boot. Do you have the discs that originally came with the machine (gray discs)? If so, you can try booting from Disc One and see if you can boot into recovery mode. If not, you'll need to call Apple, with your serial number handy, and purchase a set of the machine-specific discs that came with the system (10.4.9 or 10.4.10 or perhaps even 10.5).
Then you can see if you've a hardware or system problem.

  • I recently got a hand-me-down Macbook (white) 2010 and want to restore to factory settings. The computer did not come with any discs. It is running 10.6.8 and I purchased 10.6.3 recently to upgrade my MacBook Pro. Can I use that to restore the MacBook?

I want to give the hand-me-down to my kids so they will stay off my MacBook Pro I'd like to start fresh with the MacBook, remove all the former owners information, restore it to factory settings, but it did not come with any installation discs, so I don't know what to do. I recently purchased Snow Lepoard for my 2008 MacBook Pro. Can I use that to restore the MacBook? Also, the former owner purchased Microsoft Office (ugh) with the computer but again, no installation discs. How do I keep that when I restore?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

I purchased a mini to HDMI cable and tried to connect to the TV but the TV is not recognizing the computer. I attempted to set sound and display settings under the "my Preferences" utility with no success.  Again, I'm not sure if I need to upgrade my OS software Any Suggestions?

  • HT1369 I erased my music from my ipod while in itunes. Is it somewhere on itunes

I erased my music from my ipod while in itunes. Is it somewhere that I can get it back?

All of your content should be in iTunes on your computer, simply sync the content back to the device.

  • How do I get my ipod items to go back into my itunes library? When i sync it says if you sync you will erase the contents of my ipod.

My Ipod 60gb has 2600+ Items on it. For some reason my Itunes Library only has 1500+. When I try to sync my Ipod to add new songs it says
if you sync you will erase the contants of your Ipod. Help

Your iPod can only be synced with one iTunes library at a time.  If you try to sync it with another library, it will erase the current contents of the iPod and replace them with the contents from the new library.
If you have content you need to copy from your iPod back to your iTunes library, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer discussing the different ways to do this.
