I erased Quicktime and now I can't open any other programs

I have a MacBook and use an OS X System Version 10.6.8. I tried to erase the Quicktime 10.0 I had because it wouldn't play my files. Now it won't let me open any of my other programs like Iphoto, Itunes, Word, anything! When I open these programs they instantly "quit unexpectedly". What should I do now?
I tried to download Quicktime 7, but it wouldn't let me do that either, I just kept getting a update your version warning. HELP!

Try restarting your MacBook in safe mode (holding down the shift key while restarting) then give it a try. Also run disk utility on your hard drive to verify/repair it.

Hi everyone! I hope you can help me with my problem.
Last night, I attempted to erase free space from my HD using disk utility. During the operation, the computer hung, so it wasn't able to complete 'creating temporary file' operation. So i had to stop the operation. And now, I can't open any files! Turns out my HD was full. But prior to my attempt to erase free space, I still had 25GB out of 55GB of free space. What happened? And how do I fix it? A lot of important files are in my HD and I don't want to lose any of it.
Hope somebody could help me. Thanks a lot!

Hi, Scary isn't it? I did the self same thing. Check your trash, you should see one or more disk images there. Empty the trash. All will be OK thereafter.
If they're not there, restart and either the system will sort itself out or they will appear in the trash, so empty it.

What happens when you try? Any error messages? What version of Word? Office 2004 does not work with Lion. You need Office 2008 or Office 2011.

You may goto control panel and then go to program and features.
Select the Acrobat pro and chose the option change from the top. Fallow the onscreen instruction a windows will pop up where you need to choose repair.

LibreOffice can open word processing documents and some Draw documents. The most recent version will open spreadsheets, with some limitations, otherwise only the older version of Numbers, not the one currently in the Mac App Store, will open them. Nothing will open database documents.

I updated my applications and now I can not open any of them.

I updated the required updates due to being given no other option to go around the update and now I can not open any of the applications I installed prior, it just shows the words up to date italisized and grayed out giving me no options to oppen the applications now that I have updated my applications.

How are you trying to open them? From your description it sounds like you are opening the Application Manager.

Try a hard reset. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If still no luck try downloading and installing a free app from the app store. This has resolved the issue for many users.

On you iPad, force close all the Apps in the multitask window.
Follow these steps to force an app to close:
From the Home screen, click the Home button twice.
Tap and hold on the app.
When it starts to jiggle, tap the to close it on by one until all cleared
Now do a Soft reset of your iPad:
Hold both Home and Sleep button for around 10secs until you see the Apple logo then release. After it returns to Home screen, try your Apps again and see if this resolves the issue.

I downloaded the New numbers iOS and now i can't open any numbers documents

I just recently downloaded the new Mavricks update and now all my numbers Documents say i need to download the new system before opening. I alread have the new numbers system so i am unsure of what I need to do to fix it. I use numbers all day for my job so not having it is really not an option.

Go to the App Store via the Dock or by starting the program from your Applications folder. Sign in with your Apple ID/Password and type Numbers in the search box on the top right. That should let you navigate to the Numbers download.

Updated to 7.4 by mistake and now I can't open any itunes

I would definitely follow poster Diane Wordsmith's advice to update your OSX to at least 10.4.7 or better. But first uninstall iTunes 7.4 in the following manner:
Delete the following files:
◦ The iTunes 7.4 application (located in /Applications)
◦ com.apple.iTunes.plist (from ~/Library/Preferences)
◦ iTunes.pkg (from /Library/Receipts)
◦ iTunesX.pkg (from /Library/Receipts)
Repair Permissions
Download/install the COMBO Mac Update for 10.4.7 or better (8,9,10) from the Apple website
RESTART ....... Repair Permissions
Make sure you have QuickTime 7.2 installed (from the Apple website) before you ......
download/install iTunes 7.3.1 from the Apple website (if available) or from:
http://www.oldapps.com/
Repair Permissions ...... again!
Now you should be good to go!
