i'm afraid any audio files not in the media folder are gone (for whatever reason).

keep in mind that every second you actually USE your computer lessens the chance even further that any file recovery software can restore anything:

  • I downloaded the most recent version of iTunes. Now, it won't open. How can I fix this?

Recently, I downloaded iTunes version 10.5.3. Now, I double click it on my desktop, and in the iTunes process appears briefly in Task Manager. It gets up to the memory usage where it normally opens, but now, when it gets to that point, the task disappears, and won't reappear. I've tried many times to reopen it, but the same problem happens every time. I have already reinstalled iTunes, then removed it completely and installed it again, and the problem persists. Is there any way I can fix the problem?

Try following steps and test one at a time:
    1. Restart computer, right mouse click iTunes icon and select "Run As Administrator"
    2. If that does not work, check to see if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
    MSCONFIG
    Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
    Restart Windows.
    3. If that fails or you don't see ApsDaemon.exe in the Processes, refer to following article to remove SC files:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
    4. If that fails, repair or reinstall your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.

  • IPhoto won't open! How can I get it to open?

(Hey, I just checked in after not doing so for many months........ and I like this new letter template!!)
I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8. (It says 10.6.5 below, but that has not yet been updated.)
The message window says that I have iPhoto 9.1.5 installed. At any rate, this is the iPhoto that came when i bought iLife '11. I have been keeping up with ALL updates. My system checks for updates daily.
I have seen some people answering similar questions, but they refer the person to a site where there are iPhoto downloads to newer versions. I do not need that if I am totally up to date, as my Software Update tells me.
After all this time of iPhoto working just fine, suddenly one day after I clicked on the icon in the Dock, a message came up:
"iPHoto cannot be opened because of a problem
Check with the developer or make sure iPhoto works with this version of the Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. BE sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X." There is more, but since I cannot copy and paste, I will just let all of it go.
OK, I am always up to date with updates because I have it set to check daily. Everything is up to date.
iPhoto was working fine with Snow Leopard up till recently when this occurred.
I AM able to access the photos in iPhoto via the iPhoto browser in Apple Mail!
Please help me open up my iPhoto app.
    -L.

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Urgent: iMovie crashed and now won't open. How can I retrieve the movie I was working on?

I've been working on a university project for weeks now and was doing so this afternoon.
As I went to import a MP4 (just like I had done every time before) iMovie crashed.
Now when I try to open it, all I get is a black box with grey boarders at the top and left-hand side.
I've tried to get the movie from the iMovie library, and other sources on the mac, but I can't seem to find it.
The assignment is due next week, and the editing for the project is huge.
Is there anyway I can get it back?
I don't care about iMovie itself, as long as I can get the movie I was working on back.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    From an extremely stressed student

  • Please help. my phone won't open/start. how can i reprogram/reformat my phone

hi guys. i have a sony xperia arc s. when i try to open/start my phone, it will turn off eventually after the xperia logo appears. it will restart on its own and again, turn off after the xperia logo. this will just repeat and will not start the phone properly. i have to remove the battery to turn the phone off. i had it checked in cellphone repair shops. they told me that my phone's program is defective and i have to reprogram/reformat the phone. is there a way that i can reprogram the phone myself and avoid any repair costs? i can't open the phone so i can't do the hard reset or restore factory settings. thanks.

    1.     Install PC Companion on a Windows PC from Support
    2.     Turn on the phone, and connect it to the PC using a USB cable.
    3.     In PC Companion, under Support Zone and click Start.
    4.     Under Phone Software Update, click Start.
    5.     Click repair phone.

  • Suddenly AW database won't open.  How can I recover this file?

I was working on a new file.  Not sure if I closed it or what.  Now when I try to open it, AW starts up but nothing comes up on the screen.  I've tried the recover techniques in support, they don't work.  Is there any was to recover this file?
    TIA, Martha

Well, I gave up and trashed it.  Thanks for your offer, anyway!  It was a recipe file copied from the original file, then cut all records (supposedly).  Then I copied and pasted from several other recipe files.  All appeared well until the file disappeared.  I could see from the size that the old records must have been still there.  I have recipe files for categories - entre, sides, dessert, etc.  When a special event is coming up I make a coppy of the file that has the most of the recipes I'll be using, then remove the unwanted ones and copy and paste from other files to make the desired menu.  I have fields for ingredients, directions, cooking time, etc.  Then several layouts, which will give me shopping list, schedule, etc. and even a nice menu card with appropriate picture!  Almost more fun than cooking!

I have a new mac book air and somehow iPhoto was installed twice.  Also, a second library was created and it became the default library.  I attempted to switch to the original library but it won't open.  what can I do to revert to the old library?

Both iPhotos open to a default library (#2) which has 300+ photos,  I attempted to "switch to library" under the file tab in iPhoto and tried to choose "other library" which had most of my photos.  When I attempt to open it, it doesn't do anything.  I can see it and there are 2 libraries but it won't open.
Have you tried to open your old iPhoto library by double-clicking it directly, instead of using the File menu?  That should work, if you are running iPhoto '11 and the library has been created by that version or an older version.  DO you get an error message, if you select the library directly in the Finder?
I checked and it is the latest version of iPhoto.
Is it iPhoto '11, version 6.0.5? "Latest version" is ambiguous, because it will depend on your system version.
Where is your iPhoto Library stored?

You can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
You can trash Firefox 4.0 then re-install Firefox 3.6, it will use your existing bookmarks, passwords etc
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

How can I back up the iPhoto library when iPhoto won't open and I can't simply copy the iPhoto library packet because "some of the data canny be read from or written to"?

Regarding not being able to open iPhoto.  As a test  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Were you able to create a new library?
If so then your current library is damaged and needs to be repaired.
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
