I feel silly: Music plays only thru iPhone, not Bose speaker, when docked

Hi--I've read the threads on the Bose Sound Dock and they seem to conclude that yes, the iPhone is compatible with the Sound Dock as long as you put it in Airplane Mode. No problem with that--but when I dock it, the sound is still coming only from the iPhone speakerphone and not the Bose.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.
8gb   Windows XP

My iPhone works fine with the Bose speakers. When the Iphone prompts you on whether or not you want to go into airport mode, say NO.
Also, the iPhone works in my 5th gen IPod cradle that I have hooked up in the car via RCA jacks into the AUX portion of the radio. No problems what-so-ever!
Both of these charge the iPhone.

  • Why won't my music play on my iPhone 4s?

why won't my music play on my iPhone 4s? it was playing thru the music app but now it's not playing. It show the song but doesn't do anything.

I had this issue when I first upgraded my Iphone4 to ios5.  All my music appeared on my device as they always have but they would not play.  I searched around online and it appears there was mention of unchecking the "sync music" check box in itunes under the music tab (when device is connected) and syncing your device.  I then unchecked all my playlists and synced again then started adding back my music from scratch.  After that headache - everything seemed to be back to normal and my music was working once again.

  • Can iTunes be set to play only one song and then stop when the song is finished and not go on to play another unless commanded?

Can iTunes be set to play only one song and then stop when the song is finished and not go on to play another unless commanded?

If you uncheck all of the songs, they will only play if explicitly commanded. Command-click in a checkbox and they will all be unchecked. Command-clicking again will check the all again should you want to do that.

  • Anyone notice music playing pauses on IPhone during music sync from the cloud?

I downloaded a album from my Macbook Pro to test the new music auto sync feature on my IPhone.  While I was downloading the album on my MBP I started playing the first song that was synced to my IPhone.  I noticed that after every song that was synced to my IPhone the music playing would pause for a 1/2 second then continue.  I tested this out with WIFI and on 3G and got the same results.  I found it a bit annoying and I don't think this is "feature" to let me know a song has been synced onto my IPhone.  Now I do understand this feature is in BETA so I hope it gets fixed when its finally released.

I have had this exact same thing happen to me. It is really annoying to have those pauses. Some songs have multiple pauses. I hope this is resolved when the final product is released.

  • My touch will not play sound thru speakers while on the universal dock but will play when it is off

how do i get my itouch to play thru speakers while on the universal dock?

hmm if your ipod touch  will not play music tru its internal speakers while it is connected to a power cable might be beacuse of a malf. to fix this issue just restart your ipod touch while connected to a power adapter. if this does not work it may be a hardware problem. please take it to your nearest apple store. they might be able to fix the issue and if your ipod touch is under warrenty they might be able to replace it.

  • Want to put music on Dad's Iphone not sure how much stuff will be deleted

I wanted to put music on my dads Iphone for his birthday, but since it is my itunes and not his, it will "clear" his iphone....now this is his very impoortant work phone and so I do not want to delete all of his emails and calendar and contacts and all of the other stuff like that from his iphone...so exactly how much will itunes delete when it clears his ipone?????????

if the iPhone is setup to connect to your computer (which is not one he uses), everything will be cleared. in order to put content on his iPhone, you will have to connect it to the computer he has it already setup with. iPhone's can only be connected to 1 iTunes library, and each computer is a different 'library'.

  • I am getting the error "This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP" when attempting to play a HD movie from iTunes to my TV.  The TV is a Samsung UN46B7000WF w/resolution 1080p

    Hello Apple Community,
I am getting the message "THis movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)."  This is the first time I have tried to watch a HD movie that I bought from iTunes from my iMac to my TV.  (This is also the first attempt to go from my iMac to my TV.)  I have a Samsung LED tv that says it is HDCP compatible with Full HD (1080p) and Native resolution is 1920X1080.  I bought a Rocketfish Thunderbolt to/Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter (says support is up to 1920X1200 video resolution) and Mediabridge ULTRA Series HDMI Cable (35 Feet) - High-Speed Supports Ethernet, 3D and Audio Return category 2 certified (supports resolution up to 4K including 1440p, 1080p, 1080i and lower).
I can get the iMac to display on my TV but am guessing that I have not managed the settings correctly in Display for either the iMac or the TV.  In addition, I do not have sound yet.  Although, the card from Mediabridge says that I need to update my drivers.  Any help/advice with the settings for iMac to TV to watch in HD and adding HDMI drivers would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
    Sincerely,
    Lisa

    Hello All,
I have figured out the sound issue: System Preferences>Sound and choose the TV for output.

  • Music in iTunes - but will not manually sync when I drag to iPod

    Hi There -
I have ripped a bunch of stuff to my iTunes, and checked - all the music plays just fine.
I manually manage my iPod - so I created specific playlists, dragged the items from iTunes to my iPod.
It shows the items in the playlist, but does not give me an idication that they are being moved.
When I try to play in my iPod they won't play. When connected to the computer, I get an '!' next to the song. When not connected to the computer, it just runs through the playlist within a second and goes back to main menu.
Any ideas on how to solve?
Thanks in advance for the help....

I am replying to this as it is still unanswered - - is there anyone out there that has encountered this and has a solution?
Items ripped to iTunes and play just fine
Create a playlist in my iPod
Click and drag songs from iTunes to iPod
Shows items in the list, but does not show them being transferred

  • Album art not in sync with music played on my iPhone

I have re-synced, deleted my playlist and rebuilt them, still haven't found a solution.
On my computer in iTune, all is good, you play Mika, you'll see Mika as the album art.
On my iPhone, I hear Mika, I read Mika but I see the album art of Kate Voegele.
How can I get it back in sync?
    Thank you

I did not have this problem with my ipod touch
    I upgraded iTunes to 8.2.1
My iTunes PC artwork is beyond reproach.
    I synced my ipod touch.
Only those songs synced since 8.2.1 have incorrect artwork.
All those songs synced before 8.2.1 have correct artwork.
It is not songs added to iTunes since 8.2.1 but a song in my library which was synced to my ipod SINCE 8.2.1
The same problem exists on my iPod Classic 160.
Therefore this is not a firmware or an iPod issue.
Seems we have the smoking gun. Apple? New fix of iTunes please? This is one of the most annoying bug introductions yet.

  • IPhoto Slideshow set to Music - Music Played Only on "Authorized Computers"

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X, v 10.5.8, iPhoto '08 v 7.1.5 (378). I made a slideshow picture presentation set to music and exported from iPhoto to a folder on my desktop in .mov format. iPhoto notified me that the three songs set to the picture slideshow would only be able to be played on "authorized computers."  This slideshow needs to be distro'd to my entire class, none of which are authorized users of my iTunes account. How do I bypass this so they will all have access to the music I set to the slideshow presentation?

Use music that doesn't have a DRM on it.
The problem arises because the these three tracks were purchased on the iTuns store and they are limited by the (then) licence on the store.

  • My ipod wont let music play only orange light flashing  charged it etc still no luck ??/

    please help

If you have opened up the iPod, there are many things, that can go wrong when you put it back. You should perhaps post your problem in the iPod Modifier web site, Google for iPod Mod. Here we just try to help you, with procedures and the 5Rs.
And I dont think Apple will replace you battery for any price, if you or 3rd party vendors have opened the casing.
    Have a nice day!

  • HT4913 If the music library on my iPhone will be deleted when I enable iTunes Match, does that mean that I will not be able to access that music library when I temporarily turn off iTunes Match on the iPhone, e.g., when on the subway & can't connect to Ma

I have subscribed to iTunes Match and have employed it to listen to music on my Macbook Air and iMac.  On these devices it seems to operate by streaming music to the device rather than deleting the device's current iTunes library and downloading songs as they are played from iTunes Match. Not so on the iPhone as far as I can tell. Consequently, to date I have not activated iTunes Match on my iPhone 4S.  I presently have 40-50GB's of music on my iPhone, sync'd from my iTunes music library on my Macbook Air.  I am concerned that if I enable iTunes Match on my iPhone I will lose the music library already on my iPhone, as Apple seems to be representing that once iTunes Match is enabled on the iPhone the current music library, carefully compiled, will be gone from the iPhone forever (unless I later re-sync it from the iTunes library on my laptop), that it will be deleted.  Although this would free up a lot of space on my iPhone, I bought the 64GB phone just so that I could keep a lot of music on it and accessible at all times.  I am concerned that in certain instances, say if I am in the subway and want to listen to music on my iPhone but  don't have internet access below ground, that I won't have much music to listen to, only those songs previously played and thus downloaded onto the phone from iMatch, presenting me witrh a rather limited choice of music to play instead of the 40-50GB's I now have to choose from. Apple seems to have presented me with the choice of the lesser of 2 evils: i) enable iTunes Match and lose the music library already on the iPhone in exchange for access to iTunes Match and a greater number of songs than I can fit onto the phone (my library exceeds the phone's capacity) when a Cloud connection is available or ii) don't enable iTunes match and limit myself to only those songs, a considerable portion of my library to be sure but not all of it, that I can fit in the phone's storage space, i.e., the 40-50 GB's I have on there now.  If I choose the latter course, each time I purchase an album I'll have to delete another album to make room for it on the phone.  Apple thus offers me a sort of Hobson's choice, bad all the way around.  Do I have this right? The Apple techs I've spoken to don't seem to have a handle on the "deletion" aspect of enabling iTunes Match on the iPhone.   Right now, I'm too scared of "losing" my iPhone music library to enable iTunes Match on the iPhone. [Possible work-around, albeit a pain in the ***: I suppose that I can enable iTunes Match on the iPhone and spend the next couple of weeks 24/7 downloading songs from my iTunes Match library back onto the phone to replace at least some of those deleted when Match was enabled, thereby rebuilding a proxy library on the phone itself to play when I'm stuck in a tunnel between Brooklyn and Manhattan while maintaining access to thee larger iTunes Match library, more music than my phone will hold, once we come back into the light and my Cloud connection is restored.] Comments, suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.

  • Music skips on original iPhone NOT a headphone issue

About 2 weeks ago my iPhone began "skipping" when playing music (like a cd skips if it's scratched) this happens to random tracks, at random times, with and without headphones. I've upgraded the firmware (a disaster!) and have the latest version of iTunes, have tried restarting iPhone and restoring iPhone all to no avail. Anybody have any idea if this a hardware issue or a software bug?

I just got my iPhone 3G two days ago, and I have noticed the exact problem.
Music tracks bought from the itunes store stops/pauses randomly, and sometimes it skips to another song.
Sometimes the pause lasts up to 10 seconds with no visible indication on the screen (the 'pause' button is on the screen as though the track continues playing, but I haven't been able to take note of the duration bar).
It happens very randomly, but I only notice it when riding a bus- I don't think it is due to shock, though.
I thought it was due to the changing Wi-Fi signals, but it still happens when I disable wireless.
I am using the 8gigabyte phone, original headphones, and I have about 3-4 downloaded applications.
I am desperate for a solution, I have 12 more days before my shop-replacement warranty expires. Thanks in advance
    EDIT:
I also use a silicon cover, could it mess with the proximity sensors around the phone? I double-checked to make sure it doesn't depress any of the hardware buttons, but even if they did, it wouldn't produce the same problem I am experiencing.
I also have nothing interfering with the mult-func button under the right earphone, and pressing it doesn't produce the same effect (pressing it pauses the music, but doesn't skip, and it makes a clear indication on the screen.)

  • Album title shows and Music plays, but photos will not play in slideshow

    iPhoto 8 latest version
    Macbook Pro
    10.6.8
i'm working on a clients computer and he is having issues when he selects images within an album anywhere between 3-10 photos. Clicking on Slideshow button to start it. It will come up with the full black screen with slideshow settings - hitting play will start the music and show the album name..after that its a blank screen; none of the photos are coming up.
I tried selecting other images in another album and same issue.
I closed iPhoto and removed com.apple.iphoto.plist to the desktop and restarted iphoto with no change.
The only other thing I can think of is rebuilding the library. but I do not see any issues with the images within the album.
My client said that he noticed this after his son-in-law attached his iPad to the machine. But nothing was changed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What do you see if you try to edit one of those photos?  Do you see this in the window?
As a first attempt at a fix make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
