I figured out how to detach audio, but cannot figure out how to export JUST the audio to send as MP3. How specifically do I do it?
I have figure out how to detach my audio from my video clip, but I tried to just range select the audio and export just that, but the video keeps going with it. How can I JUST export the audio? I am a musician and need to make an MP3 out of it to send out.
Please be as specific as possible if you can in explaining and thank you so much for any help you might be able to offer.
You don't need to detach the audio. Export a master file and in settings you get the option to export audio only.

Have you already activated the iPad? That is what the screen is telling you to do - connect to the computer with the supplied cable and run iTunes while connected - and iTunes should guide you through the set up process. If you have already set up the iPad and you are still getting thos screen message - restore your iPad. You must be running iTunes 10.5 on your computer as well.

1-download yahoo messenger. save the .dmg file to your desktop or downloads, wherever your downloaded files go. Double click on it after it has downloaded and it should open up. (ah, I see-i checked out the youtube video on how to install it). then read the terms and conditions, click on agree, then drag the app (the smiley face) to the Applications folder (the square, as you call it), then it should copy it to the Applications folder. Then right or control click on the open yahoo messenger .dmg thing, and choose Eject, which should eject it into the trash. You are done installing Yahoo Messenger. click your hard drive icon on the right top of your screen and move to the Applications folder. Yahoo Messenger should be there. If you need quick access to it, or use it a lot, you can drag a copy to the dock....
Why are things so difficult? it's good to be curious, george. Might I suggest booking some time at the Apple store, or if you can afford to, pay for some one-to-one training
Using the Mac isn't difficult, but it does take some practise and getting used to

Hello. I have just built a website using iWeb but cannot upload it. I curently have the 25gb account. There doesn't appear to be any facility here for the net. Am I correct in thinking I need an upgrade, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks
iCloud does not provide website hosting. You will need to find another website hosting service - there are many to choose from - and upload your site there. How you do this depends on what version of iWeb you have.
In order to upload your existing site in iWeb '09 and above:
Click on the name of the site in the sidebar: the publishing settings pane will open. Set 'Publish to' to 'FTP'. Enter the name of the site and a contact address (if desired).
In the 'FTP Server Settings' section you will need to know the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. Your site will be published in a folder with its name at root level of the server, with an index.html file at root level (which will overwrite any index.html file which may be there already). The 'Directory/Path' field may need to include a path such as '/webspace/' or 'ht_docs/' - this is dependent on your hosting service and they should tell you this. If you want to publish within a folder you can add that to the path.
You can then click the 'Test connection' button so that iWeb can check that it can get access to your server space. You should enter the URL of the site in the 'URL' field so that rss feeds and internal links have the correct address.
To publish using an earlier version of iWeb:
From the File menu choose 'Publish to a folder'. You should create a folder somewhere convenient specifically for this and choose it when publishing to a folder: this folder should not contain anything else.
You now need an FTP program (FTP is the 'protocol' used for uploading) to upload the contents of the folder to your server.Cyberduck is free (donation requested): Transmit is $34 but I think better. You will need the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. You can drag the contents of your folder to your webspace, or create a folder there and drag the contents to that if you prefer.
Some facilities that iWeb provided when hosted on MobileMe will not work on other servers: comments on weblogs and photos, password-protecting your site (some hosts may provide this), searching in the weblog, and a hits counter (again, some hosts can provide code for this). Slideshows in iWeb will work on other hosts than MobileMe (they use different code when FTPing which doesn't depend on scripts hosted on MobileMe as the MobileMe version does); however there is an issue with the 'buttons' which control the slideshow which are images hosted on me.com - these depend on images which used to be hosted on MobileMe. I have just upgraded to the new OS X V. 10.10.3 but cannot access my iCloud Drive documents using the resident Pages and Numbers software on my MacBook Pro. Help is needed to access those documents using the resident software on my MacBook Pro rather than the Beta software on iCloud.com.
I have iCloud Drive set on the Finder sidebar and use that to open the Numbers Spreadsheet on iCloud.

Unfortunately, Starter Edition 3.2 has been discontinued for some time now; an alternative option (which is free) could be google Picasa; check that one out to see if it might work for you.
Photoshop Elements replaced Starter Edition, and comes with a sophisticated organizer that essentially does what Starter Edition did; download the tryout and use it for 30 days for free to see if it does what you want it to.

When i crop a video using FCE, how can i export just the selection?
When using the cropping tool with FCE 4, say i just crop out a single square from near the top of the video. if i were to export this video now, the new video would consist of the cropped out selection surrounded by black. is there anyway i can export the cropped out selection without the black? i'm not looking to rescale the image, just to remove the selection at it's original size without all the black around it.
FCE's a fixed-resolution editor and there's no way to export at the resolution of your cropped image unless it matches one of the sequence presets. In FCP you could set a custom resolution and export as that.

basically, i find the sharpening tool in aperture extreamly slow and would like to use lightroom, just for sharpening. I then would like to send the image back to aperture as just an adjustment on the original file and not a whole new replica file as the original. can any body give a easy solution? cheers
What you want to do can't be done. There is no low-friction way to combine image adjustments from Aperture and Lightroom. There is no way at all to combine them without creating new files.

Are you using the Edge Sharpening adjustment? In Aperture 3, it superceded the old Sharpening adjustment, which remains included for backwards compatibility. -

Any help is welcomeStill struggling to understand why copying the entire root dir to a disk image and then restoring from that image did not, as expected, yield an identical system, and why I even had to reinstall after doing this.
Because there is a lot more going on under the hood than merely copying files.
The only way to do what you want is to use cloning software like Carbon Copy Cloner.
My advice is to rescue your personal files to a regular non-TimeMachine external drive, Zero erase the ENTIRE drive and install OS X fresh and update, then your programs from original sources and files from backup.
Then, make a bootable clone and you can copy that as many times as you want and each one is bootable.
