I figured out how to update APPLE TV2 to 4.4.1

I, like most of you was having trouble updating my APPLE TV2. I used the update software option and it would show that I was already up to date with version 4.3 although I knew there was an update to 4.4.1. I removed the Apple TV2 from the location I have it placed and plugged it into the power cord and then into my computer via the USB cable.
At first it did not show up so I rebooted the system and it appeared in itunes. By the way I'm running 10.6.8 on an 27" iMac I7. I chose the restore software option and it began restoring the software until the point of the firmware update and then I would get an error that the update was not complete. It took a couple of try's and then it hit me. The Apple TV was attempting to reboot during the firmware update stage but due to it being plugged into the wall there was constant power going to the unit. I unplugged the Apple TV from the wall and realized that the USB connection was enough to power the Apple TV. I attempted the update again and it worked like a charm!
I plugged the unit back into it's original spot and turned on the TV and the Apple TV. When I checked the system it was updated to 4.4.1 with no problems.
NOTE: write down your settings and passwords to your wifi / apple store / youtube and so on because you will loose those with the restore.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
When you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

I just downloaded the latest itunes and i cant figure out how to update my iphone apps on my computer now. I go to the toolbar on the top and press search for updates and it tells me that the latest version of itunes is already downloaded or that there are no updates available at this time. Previously, i would be able to go to the apps page on itunes and then press search for updates and then download all. Then I would sync with my phone and both phone and computer would be updated. Now I can only update on the phone and I know Im going to encounter where it tells me the info for downloading is too large to do it on your phone, hence my first question.....where do I go to update my apps on my computer????

While you're in itunes, with the leftside window open, click on Apps. Then, look across the top middle of your itunes screen. You will see several choices: All, Iphone/iPad Touch, Ipad, Ipod Games, List, and Updates.
Clicking on each of these gives you a different view.
When you select ALL you will see all of your apps. When you select Updates you sill see only the apps that need to be updated. When you are in Updates you will see the Update button in the lower right corner.

Hi , a similar thing happened to me with another piece of software .. it was then that I realized I have two accounts .. I have no recollection of setting up two but it seems I did somewhere along the line.. I have jimkells and the second is [email protected] .. so when I logged in as the other acc there it was and I was able to update .. could it be FCPX was bought on another user account ??

HT1338 i want to update my mac, it is a osx 10.5.8 laptop and i cant figure out how to update

I know i can go to the apple sign in the top right and click software updates but when i do it says i am up to date even though os x 10.5.8 is not up to date. How can i update? Do i have to switch my settings or do i have to download something from the store? I want to get my computer as up to date as possible. Please help.

Backup first
It is always best to have a full bootable backup before you upgrade. If you fail to do this you will be unable to return to this OS if you decide you don't like the new OS. Also there is a slight chance that an install could lose everything on the Mac. The backup must be to an external hard disk. Preferably use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable backup of the whole disk.
Erase before the install
Once you have a bootable backup on an external disk it is best to erase the internal disk with the new installer DVD before you install.
During the install
Preferably do not import any data or preferences from earlier OSs during the install process as this can reintroduce bugs.

is there more than one _xmlData.pic.caption node in your xml?
if yes, the following should be tracing more than one caption:

if it does not, you probably have a malformatted xml.

I can't figure out how to update camera raw. Elements won't read my ARW. files.

Help? haha Elements won't read my ARW. files. It says to update camera raw but I don't know how.

What camera model do you have? What version of Elements are you using (Help / About Photoshop Elements) and what version of Camera Raw are you using in Elements, now (Help / About Plug-in / Camera Raw)?
These questions are relevant because each camera model must be supported individually and Adobe only adds support to currently available products.

When I tried to dbl-click/activate the Installer package, I only get an alertwith the message,
"An eligible Logic Express Version was not found in the Applications Folder.
This Update requires Logic Express version 9.0 or higher."
My Applications folder does contain the LOGIC EXPRESS ver 9.1.3

FOUND THIS....
Logic Express needs to be "Logic Express.app" and not "Logic Express 9.0.0" or similar, and also has to be in Applications folder.

I can't seem to figure out how to update BIOS...

I have a MSI K9VGM-V motherboard running BIOS v1.6 I upgraded my BIOS before with the flash utility but now I can't find one and the live update will not work on my system..
If someone could link me to the latest BIOS to my board with the utility I would be grateful! I found one but unfortuntely the .exe flash utility is not opening so it must not be a good source.

Do NOT update the bios if you experience any compatibility isues, bsod or crashes. In that case: troubleshoot!
Do NOT update the bios because there is a new one. New is not always better, it may even make things worse for you.
Do NOT update the bios using the .exe you are looking for.
Do NOT update the bios using LiveUpdate.
those are the DON'Ts. Let's go to the DOs:
Do update if you are planning to install a new cpu that needs a newer bios revision.
Do update if you experience a problem that can only be solved by a new bios revision.
